Members KYTOP Posted August 13, 2010 Members Posted August 13, 2010 I was surprised the only place I had heard of this incident was on a Fox News Sports Link commentary: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/gay-umpires-ordeal-shows-sad-state-of-sports-081310 Here's another link to the story I found by googling: http://www.queerty.com/calling-gay-umpire-fing-faggot-wont-get-him-to-side-with-edmonton-capitals-manager-brent-bowers-20100807/ Quote
Members Lucky Posted August 13, 2010 Members Posted August 13, 2010 Interesting article. KY Top. We all like to bash the umpires at times-"Kill the ump!!!-but this incident was quite different. Hopefully it leads to greater education and acceptance. Quote

I think it hits the nail on the head pretty good: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/jeff_pearlman/08/13/brent.bowers/ Quote
Guest FourAces Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Great find KY. Its a pretty blatant reminder if anybody needed one on how much further gay people need to come in our society. I too cannot understand why this was not picked up by the so called more liberal media like MSNBC or CNN. In fact I find it disturbing that they did not even mention the incident. Quote
Guest restless Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Is it me, or does this feel like the year of the gay? There's something about this year that's given me more hope than ever. Quote
