Members TownsendPLocke Posted August 4, 2010 Members Posted August 4, 2010 Attended an evening of Grand-Guignol theatre at the Taper tonight with thier presentation of The Lieutenant of Inishmore http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/culturemonster/2010/07/theater-review-the-lieutenant-of-inishmore-at-the-mark-taper-forum.html It was some sort of"Gay Hollywood"night as there were an awful lot of "those types" in the crowd Chris Pine did a great job BTW Quote
Members Lucky Posted August 6, 2010 Members Posted August 6, 2010 I saw Chris Pine perform there in another show. (Actually, I think it was at the Geffen.) He is getting some serious theater creds to let people know that he is more than Captain Kirk. But, when I saw Inishmore in New York, I didn't like it that much. Quote
Members Lucky Posted August 8, 2010 Members Posted August 8, 2010 Summer is always a slow time for theater, unless "summer theater" in an old barn is your idea of fun. I saw an amateur production of Love, Valour, and Compassion that made me cringe at times, but the cast tried hard. Later this month I will see Robin and the Seven Hoods at the Old Globe in San Diego. It's supposed to be Broadway bound. And, incidentally, the Old Globe is doing Broadway Bound and Brighton Beach Memoirs in repertoire this fall, and I have tickets for that as I really liked these shows years ago. The Palm Canyon Theatre in Palm Springs starts their fall season next month with (sigh) Cats. I did discover a website that looks pretty good, listing southern California theater events: www.performingartslive.com Quote
