Porto Alegre Sauna Boy Pics

As I have mentioned previously, I really like going to Porto Alegre on a weekend when I am in Brazil. It's a 1 Million + population city in far South Brazil, closer to Buenos Aires than it is to Rio. It's much more European with a significant % of their population desecended from German/Italian/Polish immigrants. It has two suanas, one old but very comfortable and one new. It has three rentboy bars, which has a mix of suana guys and guys who have come out to make some extra money on the weekend. Porto Alegre is not a week long destination, better for a long weekend. The rentboy bars are open Thurs. - Sunday. One of the differences between the Rio and Sao Paulo saunas and P.A.'s is there are few body builder types in P.A., a few but less than 10% of the guys. Most are natural/swimmer/twink types. Here are some pics of a few of my favorites! The guy in the 5th pic is from Porto Alegre but works at Corujinhas in Rio. The 13th pic is one of Mezzininu sauna.

I avoid Porto Alegre from June to Aug, their winter..it can be nice but it also can be Cold with temps down to freezing. Similarily in their Summer, mid Dec to early March it can get to 100 during the day. The climate reminds me of Bakersfield Ca, but with better scenery! both in and outdoors! :-)

How do you get there and if flying, how much is a lst minute ticket from Rio, generally?

From Rio both TAM and GOL(www.voegol.com.br)airlines fly there. It's a 2 hour flight. I prefer GOL because it's affliliated with American Ailines so I get the mileage credit plus FF lanes for checkin. There flight times are good and TAM usually has really long checkin lines for some reason at Rio's GIG airport. GOL is like Brazil's version of SouthWest airlines except you can select seats online.

My tickets for going to P.A. from Rio mid march were $49.00 each way, but if you wait until the week of the trip to make a reservation expect to pay $400.+ r/t Another thing I like about GOL is they will let you cancel flight w/o penalty. There have been several times when I had a reservation for a weekend trip there from Rio and canceled because I saw the weather for that weekend in P.A. was going to be really crappy or... I "found" someone I just didn't want to leave Rio for and canceled the day before the flight departed and was credited the whole airfare back!

btw, on GOL's site go to the bottom of the "Select Countries" list and click on Other, that will give you the English version when you start.
