Guest tomcal Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 A little History first! It was early 2001 and I was looking for a gay friendly place to go on vacation with my BF at the time. we had gotten into taking each other on trips for our birthdays and Xmas and had done Hawaii, Mexico, London, etc, and so I googled Gay Brazil. One of the links that came up was Trilingual's original sauna review post on Hooboy's site about Brazil. At that point I had never even known there were escort sites or review sites and sure as hell didn't know about rentboy saunas! We got to Rio and couple of hours later stumbled on Roger's sauna, no mapquest back than...and being a fast learner...the rest is history! lol I started posting late 2001 on my experiences there as I thought the Rio Saunas was so great and wanted to share it as well as promote them so they would continue to operate(no worries there). What I never realized or expected was the friendships that came out of being a memeber of the forums and meeting many of the posters! I would guess I have met well over 50+ guys who have posted on this or Hooboy's site. The first 5 or 6 "hooboy dinners" at Numbers in L.A. introduced many of us together. There have been a 1/2 dozen or so guys I have met thru these boards that have become really close friends and another 5 or 6 that have become more than just casual acquaintences. One of the guys I met 6 years ago in Rio who is from NYC, has become one of my closest friends and we travel to Brazil and Europe together when ever we go. This has been especially good as it's always more fun to go with someone but as I think everyone knows, you can be good friends with someone but that doesn't mean you can travel well together! We have a third friend from Boston who usually joins us in Rio. What a great side benefit to get from becoming active on a review site! I have been fortunate to meet everyone from Oz to Lucky to Cooper to Townsend and many more and it sure was a unexpected benefit of posting! I thought I would mention this as there has been many comments made about the other site as well as the occassional dustups between memebers. I had reasons for going from a frequent poster on the other site to deleting my account there in 2005, but both sites have been invaluable for making friends! Like any group of people, whether family or neighbors or workplace associates, your not going to like everyone or become close friends with everyone you meet here, but if you give it the chance you will definitely enlarge your circle of friends! Have a great week everyone! Quote

Tomcal, I heartily second your sentiments. Early in my experiences I had some fun trips to New York and Montreal. I spent some great time with escorts and in strip clubs. However, after I met some posters on some of those trips, who soon became good friends, the experience rose to a whole new unbelieveably fun level. After that, we always scheduled trips to coincide whenever possible, which was often. It may be difficult for some to appreciate but it's like the fun went from a pleasurable two dimensional experience to a three dimensional blow out. I had some of the very best times of my adult life. Fun is so much more enjoyable when you share it with good friends that have the same interests. Quote
TotallyOz Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Thank you for bringing this up. I have met so many people that I love to talk to, travel with and spend time with that are on the forums. I first met Hooboy years ago and he was my travel buddy for a while until his death. I have not met someone that can keep up with me or vice versa since, but I keep looking. What I loved about Hoo was that he would venture to Thailand, Brazil, Canada, Amsterdam or anywhere fun led him. I have tried to emulate this over the past few years and I meet up with great guys who love the above mentioned places but very few who like them all as I do. My motto in life has always been: ---Life is here, life is now. Life is soooo short... and sex is just to delicious! Life should NOT be a journey to the grave wit the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne and Strawberries in one hand, Diet Coke and Godiva Chocolate in the other, a personal bottle of Eros, A BOX OF TROJAN MAGNUMS, and a good Cuban cigar in the your pockets (ALL partially used), a wallet ALMOST empty of currency but noticeably used from the rainbow colors of THE SEVERAL bills THAT REMAIN from a multitude of countries and cards charged to the max from the joys of life, body thoroughly used up, OLD AS TIME ITSELF, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!--- I'll be in LA for a few months and hope to meet up with many of you out there. Then off to Brazil and then to Thailand again. Quote
