A slander against NYC's drivers

A Yankee refugee to my Southern home town told me he spent his first year here puzzling over over the number of complete strangers that waved at him from their vehicles. Seems that our quaint custom of stopping a little early at red lights to allow folks blocked by traffic to enter the road was unknown in North Jersey. ^_^

Try to drive to and through the Lincoln Tunnel any day of the week between 3 pm and 8 pm and you would agree.

Ditto for the charming approach maze to the George Washington Bridge.

And why, on the Bruckner northbound, does everyone suddenly speed up just as it gets ridiculously narrow? Some kind of Venturi effect?

You're all supposed to be on my side, not the side of that scurrilous report. I rise up and wrap myself in righteous wrath ( not to mention some pretty good alliteration, if I say so myself ). I set my face against you. Tremble!*

*This command is valid only until 2PM EDT. By then I'll be grilling burgers. It's tough to keep a decent wrath going when doing something I enjoy.

Just back from watching our local fireworks show out by the river. B) StuCotts, AdamSmith and Conway, I hope you all three had a safe and enjoyable 4th.
