Members BigK
Pretty big boy for 16 years old. "Mr. Katehis’s MySpace page, which was taken down Wednesday, said he enjoyed “drinking, bike riding, hanging out, roof hopping, hanging off trains,†and “extreme violence (chaos, anarchy, etc ...) video games, violent movies and listening to my iPod.†“I am an extremist, an anarchist and a sadomasochist. As long as you show respect for me, I will show respect for you.†But it warned that if he were not shown respect, he would “break your neck.†Be careful who you decide to meet up with! Plus adding cocaine and vodka to teenage testosterone. Even Harry Potter could have a rough time with that combo.

caeron
Maybe I'm missing something, but I see nothing in the article about soliciting rough sex, or that he knew the kid was a minor. He may well have done both, but I'm not reading it. I think this kind of thing is just the reality of attempting to be intimate with a stranger. Some of them are crazy and fucked up and will kill you. There's nothing unique to craigslist about that. It's part of the human condition. There's nothing unique to craigslist about that. It's part of the human condition. You're right. The Times piece doesn't mention solicitation of rough sex. That detail came out in the News coverage, to which it was my original intent to provide a link, but I couldn't get that link to work. I should have noticed the Times's omission. Agreed that there's nothing unique to Craigslist about that. But I've seen enough negatives about Craigslist to turn me off on it. My caution may be exaggerated by some definitions, but I'm willing to live with that shortcoming.
caeron
Ah. Well I tend to agree that soliciting rough sex from a total stranger isn't something I'd do. Maybe from an escort I'd seen before. Craigslist doesn't particularly scare me, but I've had rotten luck with it finding anything other than flakes.
