Phoenix Hoo-MER Pride Weekend

I am organizing a little get together here in Phoenix to coincide with our Pride weekend. The dates of Pride are Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19.. There is a parade Saturday morning, and an all day festival both days. Friday night we can make a group trip to Dick's Cabaret, our totally nude strip club. Then we can meet Saturday for the parade and festival, then a group dinner that evening. Sunday is more festival and if desired, a return to Dicks for their 2-4-1 night (2-4-1 on cover and lap dances). Everyone (except the mean girls) are invited. If you are interested, drop me a line. The website for Pride is www.phoenixpride.org there you can find some info about hotels that are offering special rates (click on celebration then hotel)..For those who like to "priceline it", select either the downtown area to be closer to the pride festivities, or the airport area to be closer to Dicks cabaret.

Last year we had 3 fellow posters attend. Several more have expressed interest this year. I hope to get a good turn out to rival the Palm Springs event...I will do my best to try and convince some of our local working boys to attend the dinner.

The bf and I are glad to attend the event again this year, and can attest to Lurker Speak's abilities as a host. The parade is shorter that the ones in the bigger cities, which is a bit of a plus after a seeing a five hour SF parade. And Dick's is loads of fun.

I hope to attend LurkerSpeaks shindig-looking forward to it.

On a rather grim note.Phoenix was named the USA's top spot for kidnapping today! And that is only going by the reported instances(propbably less than half)accourding to a new report in todays LA Times.

Thank you most kindly for the invite. If I am in the USA then, I will attend. I still don't know where I"ll be the week after Carnival but if perchance the USA is the destination, I have always wanted to visit Phoenix.

It's Great to see interest in another get together... You can come alone.. You can come with a partner.. You can come with your .....um.. date....Just make it a point to come...Average weather for

April is usually hot, sunny, in the 90's.. but it is a dry heat.... Lots of excuses for the boys to wear as little as possible.

I cannot belive how cheap the prices are for REALLLLLLLY nice hotels in Phoenix are for these dates!

The economy has really KO'd the resort business it would seem.

And the airfares are pretty cheap also-only problem is most of the non-stops are on a carrier I choose not to fly  But I plan on getting there one way or another.

Lurker Speaks-are there any areas that are more "fun"than others? Are there any we should avoid?

If you want to be close to the Pride festivities and the closest thing we have to a gay part of town, chose the "uptown" area... that would be just north of downtown...Phoenix is on a grid system, with Central Avenue being the center north/south street. As you travel west of Phoenix, you are on the avenues, and as you travel east, you are on the streets.. The pride festival will be located at Indian Steele Park, which is near the intersection of 3rd Street and Indian School. The "gay-borhood" would best be described as between 7th ave to 7th street, and somewhere around Indian School road and Camelback Road. (Indian School and Camelback run parallel east/west and are a mile apart). My choice of hotels personally would be The Clarendon.. It is a hip, trendy boutique hotel==Gay owned but not advertised as a "gay hotel".. They do however host many gay events and it is about a 6 block or so walking distance to the pride festivities. There are several other hotels in the area, mostly in the midlevel.. The "nice resorts' are more east in Scottsdale, which would be a 20-30 minute drive to pride...

Dicks cabaret is in a more industrial area south of the airport and downtown. While not a long drive from the above mentioned area, it isnt really an area I would recommend staying in unless Dicks was your only reason for the visit.

It is looking like I'll be in USA for this time frame and I'll try to fly down. Should I bring someone with me or any recommendations on local talent?

If you want some reliable "company" I would recommend bringing your own. Not saying there arent some good guys here, but most of the ones I know of are on the flakey side... And since it is Gay Pride, they will more than likely be having fun on their own and now really wanting to work that weekend. The one guy here in town who has always gotten very high marks is Ryan.. aka www.escortboi.com

Good news, gentlemen. I have been in contact with Studcody, and he says he will more than likely be dancing at Dicks on Friday night. He has also agreed to meet us for our Saturday dinner. So hopefully his attendance will be even more incentive for anyone else considering to join us in Phoenix..If you plan on joining us, please let me know if you will be alone or with someone for the dinner, so I can make arrangements for the appropriate number of guests.

Hey guys, I forgot to mention to lurkerspeaks that I'll probably also be at Dick's that Thursday as well unless something comes up. I'm getting excited for that weekend, it should be a blast!

I might be staying at the W in Scottsdale.Looks like a very cool property-but they only do valet and charge $26 a day for that.

The Sheraton near the convention center is brand new also--and much cheaper(and closer to the venues being discussed)with the plus of having free street parking closeby.

Stillllll-that W looks realllllly nice

Rates are a little high right now($150 for the Sheraton,$260 for the W),but I think they will come down closer to the date.

PS-welcome to the newcomer Baily.Very nice body you've got there young man.

Do us all a favor a post a link to your ad/profile.

Townsend, that W hotel may look nice, but when you are at Dick's cabaret you may be wishing that money was in your pocket. I tried Priceline and got a 4* hotel for $40 a night- with free parking. No, I am not getting any points, but I may score some at Dick's when I have cash to flash.

The W Hotel is veeery nice, with an amazing pool area. There is PLENTY of *free* parking around the hotel, so don't even bother with valet.

However, I highly, highly recommend the Clarendon Hotel. You'll be much closer to Pride and Dick's, and the rooms and pool area are almost on par with the W. It's gay owned and managed (I can get you Ben's number if you'd like), plus you won't have to deal with the snoody Snottsdale bitches (you'll want to gouge your eyes out after an hour around most of them).

Bailey is sitting right next to me so I'll show him how to set up a link in his signature ^_^

Ok...if any of the out of town attendees want to save waiting in line for tickets, you can purchase them now at www.phoenixpride.org .. There is the option of single day or two day admission tickets for the festival. If you plan on attending our "get together" dinner on Saturday evening, please drop me a line and let me know how many will be attending (you alone, with a guest, etc) so I can make appropriate arrangements..Thanks to all who have expressed interest. Also.. if you let me know where you will be staying, i will try to work on travel directions, carpools, etc to get everyone to the "fun" places..

Just added--another HooMer Pride event... Now we will meet at Dicks on Friday nite..Saturday we meet for the Pride parade and festival, followed by a dinner (with a couple of Dicks cabaret dancers/escorts attending). Then the newest addition to the weekend, we will meet for brunch Sunday before taking in more of the pride festival, and then one final nite at Dicks if anyone is still interested. Of course each attendee can mix and match any of the planned events according to his own tastes/plans... It should be fun filled weekend of eyecandy, good company, and good conversations.

Hey guys, the festivities are only about a month away! I hope its ok for me to post this here as it is relevant to many of you attending Pride, but I just wanted to mention that I have a 2009 Dick's VIP Membership card for sale. It gets you free cover for the entire year and I think discounted or free wristbands for the private dances (I'll double check if anyone expresses interest). I'm asking $60 for the card, so it pays for itself if you plan on going to Dick's 3 or more times this year! Call me or send an email if interested!

On another note, I really hope you guys have checked out The Clarendon Hotel if you are still searching for accommodation! It will be one big party there, and Bailey & I will probably be lounging at the pool there when we are not at the Pride park. Can't wait to meet all of you!
