Guest BewareofNick Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Reading the movie recommendations thread reminded me of my trip to the IMAX theater to see 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'. I got to see the trailer for the new Star Trek film and wow...blown away here...... so . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Spoliers.... He's taken a few liberties with the series. The Enterprise looks like the Enterprise on the outside, but it's different on the inside. The uniforms look like the original series uniforms. Zachary Quinto favors Leonard Nimoy a LOT. Karl Urban channels Deforest Kelley extremely well. Chris Pine is fucking HOT!!! The sound effects are the sound effects from the original series. The computer is voiced by the late Majel Roddenberry (as it should be). Here's a few images for you : Kirk, McCoy, Spock and Sulu Chekov, Kirk, Scotty, Bones, Sulu and Uhura and of course, the revised trailer, with an old friend at the end.... Star Trek trailer Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Sylar (Spock) is one hot gay dude. I've been paying attention to him since he was on 24 years ago. Quote
Members biznesman Posted January 1, 2009 Members Posted January 1, 2009 mmmmm...... I can't wait to see young Capt. Kirk's big phaser! Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 If you go over to Fleshbot they have a link to the best Star Trek porn ever created. Quote
Members BigK Posted January 2, 2009 Members Posted January 2, 2009 I think the one playing Kirk is the hottest. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Give me Sylar/Spock any day of the week. Kirk is and always has been a jerk. Quote
Guest BewareofNick Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Give me Sylar/Spock any day of the week. Kirk is and always has been a jerk. "SPOCK!!!" "Ship...out of danger?" "Yes. You saved the ship. You saved us all." "I never..took...the Kobayashi Maru. What do you think ...of my solution?" "Spock...." "Do not...grieve...Admiral. It is not logical. The needs of the many....outweigh..the needs....of the few...." "Or the one." "You have been..and always shall be...a pompous jerk..." "What the hell?" "Well, he may be dyin' Admiral, but he dinna ever lie..." "Let's go, Scotty, I'm sure the ham here needs more time to emote..." "Klingon Bastards!! You killed my son!!" "That's the next movie, Jim." BiBottomBoy Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 "Jim, your spoken word rock albums are not logical." Quote
caeron Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 The movie poster I saw with kirk and spock was Waaaay homoerotic. Quote
Members BigK Posted January 2, 2009 Members Posted January 2, 2009 Not a very good picture of Spock. I'm willing to reconsider. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 The guy who plays spock is the dude who plays Sylar on Heroes. Quote

Members BigK Posted January 12, 2009 Members Posted January 12, 2009 I still want to see The Day the Earth Stood Still mentioned in the first post even though it hasn't received great reviews. Was going to go see it today...until I found out I needed a new car battery. Shopping for Car Batteries is a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon, but at least I didn't find out I needed a new battery before an important appointment or before going out for the evening. BiBottomBoy Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 The reviews I've read imply that buying car batteries is a better use of almost anyone's time than seeing that movie. Quote

I know...I've seen the reviews...but some irrational desire in me wants to see it. I'm going to try again this week. Quote

If you're this kind of person, you'll enjoy it. I did. But it is a pretty bad movie. I just have a weak spot for silly Sci Fi stuff. Quote

BiBottomBoy Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Yeah, sometimes movies with bad reviews are fun to watch. I'm personally a fan of all five Saw movies. Quote
Members RA1 Posted January 13, 2009 Members Posted January 13, 2009 I am still a fan of the original ST TV series. It is so old it is coming back either as campy or certainly as a prime example of how things were done then. Some of the behind the scenes feats were interesting. For instance, the sliding doors that opened whenever someone approached? The set people were never able to make that happen with technology. They actually had two people just standing there to open the doors at the proper time. I am sure opening the doors could be done at some price but they had a budget. Best regards, RA1 Quote
Members BigK Posted January 15, 2009 Members Posted January 15, 2009 Finally saw Star Trek previews today in a theater....hot actors, and a really funny dead-on Scotty. Quote
Members BigK Posted January 15, 2009 Members Posted January 15, 2009 Confession time...I did see The Day the Earth Stood Still, and as I was advised it was a mediocre movie. Keanu Reeves gave a pale wooden performance and the opening was straight out of Andromeda Strain. Quote
Guest BewareofNick Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Finally saw Star Trek previews today in a theater....hot actors, and a really funny dead-on Scotty. Simon Pegg promises to be a hoot as Scotty. I also think Karl Urban's McCoy will be very faithful To DeForest Kelley's. "That character that is written in the script is very faithful to the character that was created back in '68," (actually 1966, but...) said Urban, "and everything that the wonderful DeForest Kelley did to imbue his character with that great compassion for humanity and that sense of irascibility. I think that the long time fans will be very happy with this film. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Keanu hasn't given a good performance in years. Quote
