I appreciated the ability to edit posts. However, I think there should be a time limit. Being able to delete one's posts days later sort of destroys the continuity of the thread. IMO

Hey I deleted the post as they were only causing too much waste of time. While we agree to disagree at this point it is managements opinion and it is there web site. I have tried long enough to change and it is not going to happen. While I like a lot of this site in lots of regards I will likely never agree on some thing. I therefore have decided to just not write or waste my time on the reviews here as so few and kimited and trust factor that they are sensationalized for the type of escort I wish to see

PJ, Forums are for discussion and taking in views of others. They are not a way to get others to abdicate to your wishes. This site is run by a group of guys that love it and that really believe in its purpose and have the utmost respect for all the members. We listen and we make changes accordingly. Many suggestions that have been made are in the plan for the new rebuild. But, just because your wishes are not granted automatically does not mean they are not appreciated. Your choice is to leave or stay. But, to base it on a the thread that I read is simply not something I understand. But, I do respect your decision.

That being said, to delete all those posts was childish. It made a very engaging thread useless. I had personally spent over 10 hours with the programmers this week on trying to find a good way to implement many of the ideas from that thread. Your deletions really just wasted my time.

I apologize to you and all other members for this. As Oz mentioned, we thought the 60 minute window under dcforums had been established for IPB when it replaced dcforums. Obviously it was not and we are responsible for that. Thus the apology.

This action guts the conversational value of that thread and it interferes with the free flow and exchange of ideas of the participants and greatly diminishes the value to the readers.

IMO it is also a measure of disrespect to the other participants in the thread and violates the spirit of the message board community, not to mention an immature act.

We thought there was a time limit and it was when the site started.

I have changed the edit to 20 minutes which I think is enough to make any needed changes.

Is that 20 minutes from the minute the post is completed, or 20 minutes from the moment of logoff? If the latter, all the poster has to do is not formally log off, and he can come back in to post, edit, etc., even days after the original post, even if the poster has been away from the site the whole time. Or so it used to be. I know because it happened to me. So, what must also be limited is the length of time a logon remains valid if unused.

It is now 60 minutes. But, that is 60 minutes after the post is made and not 60 minutes after log out.

Exactly. Being able to read a poster's entire history of committing his thoughts to public view, unadulterated as it were, is one of the few controls, other than basic self-respect, that pushes posters toward authenticity and responsible behavior in discussion boards such as these.

Also related to the principle -- written explicitly in some message forums' rules, implicit always -- that Thou Shalt Not Post Under Multiple Identities.
