Bregovic has written movie soundtrack music and worked with Iggy Pop. Despite that, he has no reputation that I know of on this side of the Atlantic. His fame seems to be confined to Europe. I love his stuff, particularly his writing for brass. The link below is to a video of an excerpt from an opera of his called Karmen With A Happy End. It's not the excerpt I would have chosen to show off his talent, but it's what there is.
