Guest StuCotts Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 While the media and pundits work themselves into a lather over Eliot Spitzer's problems, admittedly grave, little attention is being paid to this story about what happens to anybody in any government position who tries to talk sense to Bush. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/12/washingt...amp;oref=slogin Quote
Members JKane Posted March 12, 2008 Members Posted March 12, 2008 Yep. I also became worried when I heard him credited as a main force keeping us out of Iran (so far)... And don't forget McCain's "joke" about the old Beach Boy's song "Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran". $5-6 a gallon gas anyone? Ok, I've given up on the flying car, but WHERE THE FUCK IS MY PLUG-IN HYBRID??? Quote
Members TampaYankee Posted March 12, 2008 Members Posted March 12, 2008 I strongly doubt Adm. Fallon was naive about the potential impact of the article on his career. Apparently his reticence has been ongoing for some time. I'm pleased that he had the honor to make his differences public and take the fallout rather than go-along-to-get-along that many other military leaders engaged in in the run up to the Iraq War and the unmitigated disaster it became after victory was declared. Hats off to Adm. Fallon, and Gen. Shinseki who were prepared to pay the price for daring to speak truth to power, as they saw it. Quote
