Guest Stephan Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I am in the Big Apple. I have some clients I’ll see but I also have a lot of free time to enjoy the city. Although I have been to the city many times over the years, I have yet to find the best that New York City has to offer. What are some of those hidden gems that you have in the city that are not in the tourist books? Some places I should try? Something I should do to get a more salient taste of the apple? I have been to the major museums but perhaps there are new exhibitions that I should see or a new restaurant I should entertain. Any assistance would be appreciated! Stephan Quote
TotallyOz Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Well, I know you love gadgets. Be sure to to go B & H Photo on 34th Street and 9th Avenue. I can play in there for days. Also, across the street is a place called Soul Fixin's. It is Southern comfort food. Wonderful and amazing. Quote
Members Lucky Posted November 28, 2007 Members Posted November 28, 2007 Many think to go to Central Park, but the Cloisters far up in Manhattan are quite a spectacle when the fall colors are showing. It has a very interesting museum as well. Quote
Guest Conway Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 As your fellow native southerner, Oz, I have to say that I never had any soul food better than that served at Miss Mamie's Spoonbread Too (366 West 110th Street)in Upper Manhattan. While you're there, be sure to take in the splendor of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. It's truly an architectural wonder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathedral_of_...ivine,_New_York http://www.yelp.com/biz/miss-mamies-spoonbread-too-new-york Hopefully your hotel will have a treadmill to work it off Quote
