Guest BKKvisitor
Stumbled across this link and would be interested in hearing opinions from posters who have been there. http://www.gaybkk.vitlock.com/?m=200610 In particular, does anyone have knowledge of venues in this area described in link: Where is all these gay-places located? Well they are on the same side as the BTS Kamphaeng Phet station, if you exit on EXIT number 1. You will exit onto a lovely Thai wooden house, walk in the opposite direction of the weekend market and 200 meters down the road you will find Mogue bar. Fantastic gay-bar. The word being slang for blow job in Thai. They have got lovely drag performance every night, good standard on the performance. The bar-man has got no clue on how to mix a cocktail, so just tell him to keep on adding and adding and create your own drink.

However, upon reading what is on the site, whoever authored it seems to know what he's talking about. It all seems to be worth a try. It doesn't appear that much (if anything) has been added to this site since the link was established in Oct 2006. But it does appear, as you say, that the author has some intimate knowledge of venues outside the traditional "international" locations in Bangkok that we find ourselves constantly rehashing. Hopefully others can shed some new light on this places.
Guest pete1969
My first BF took me to this strip of bars on a BKK visit. I was the only farang. The bar we went to was packed, and they had a fun drag show at midnight. The doormen did check my ID (as the blog author warns). I've also been to the Chakran (as I'm sure many on this board have) which is in this area. The Friday night I went there were only three farang there (including me) and a huge number of very beautiful Thai men and Chinese men. The sauna itself is beautiful as well. I prefer it to Babylon (although I'm not really a sauna person, so maybe not the best judge). Pete

Khampaeng Phet is a MRTA station . Thats all Rene
Guest BKKvisitor
Thanks for the info, guys. I'm at the point in my BKK excursions that the old venues (Soi 4, etc.) re getting pretty boring. Although Bangkok is a huge town, I have to acknowledge that it's surprising small if you limit yourself the offerings around Silom. And as I mentioned in another posting, I recognize Thais who frequent babs from my first trip seven years ago. Please keep the comments coming. Many out there must have a sense of adventure like Pete and ventured beyond the beyonds.

I went a few times some years ago after it opened and loved the place. As you say, it is very beautiful and many of those visiting were stunning looking Thais. But I heard it is now exclusively Thais for Thais. Did u get that impression?

I've been going to Chakran for about the last 3 years. I go to Thailand twice a year and Chakran is always on my agenda. I go roughly once a week orwhen I've gotten bored with Babylon. I can tell you that their Christmas eve events are always a lot of fun. Plenty of boys and not all of them are looking for other Asians. I find it very enjoyable. Great gym very good food, and they have the best massage guy in all of Thailand (in my opinion). Speaks no English but he know the human body very well. Oh by the way, it's strictly massage. The place is a "must visit" for anyone who hasn't gone.

Thank you for that post, Manjai. I have a feeling you just dramatically increased their customer base. Can you tell us the best way to get there? Guest pete1969
Actually, I went with my BF. We went to eat some dinner there before going out to the bars in Saphan Kwai. After dinner, we did wander around the sauna, but I wasn't cruising for sex partners that night. I'd seen this sauna on the Internet and really wanted to see it in person. I did get lots of long glances when I was waiting outside the locker area for my BF. I got the impression I could have picked up a number of cute guys. As noted by another poster, the food is very good. The jacuzzi is huge, and one of the best I've seen. The jacuzzi and the pool are flanked by an outdoor bar and oversize sofa-style seating that really reminds me of something from 1001 Arabian Nights. The steam room was very dark, so I did not try it out as it was very crowded. The gym was nice as were some of the chill areas. I did not check out the video rooms or hook-up rooms. It really is a beautiful place. Just check out their website, and one can see what an upscale place it is. Pete
Guest gilo
Chakran is omned by those who have V Club (very close to Chakran) and some of those delectable boys at Chakran may also be found at V Club - which is my favouite "spa" in Bangkok
Guest BKKvisitor
The more I read these comments, the more likely I am to visit Chakran and the Saphan Kwai venues on my next trip. I hope this thread will continue to elicit information from guys who've been to these places and have recommendations and guidance. Thanks again. Guest Manjai1
I should probably also note how Chakran differs from Babylon (and I'm wondeing if the other poster will perhaps agree). I feel that Chakran has a much quieter quallity then Babylon. It's almost meditative. Now granted we all know that we're there for sex but nonetheless this place has a peaceful quality to it. Enjoy
Guest fountainhall
Can you tell us the best way to get there? It's easy. Take the Skytrain to Ari station - 2 up from Vctory Monument. Exit the station on the same side you exit the train (if coming from Siam Centre). Just in front, on the left you will see Soi Ari. Turn into Ari and walk about 250 metres. Chakran is in the fourth soi on the left - about 100 metres into the soi on the right side. There used to be a Chakran sign at the entrance to that fourth soi. Guest gilo
I should additionally make clear that while you may get free jollies at Chakran, V Club is definitely not for "cheap charlies"- some years ago it was involved in a scandal over a Thai boxing gold medal winner who had a photo shoot taken there ( along with other things!). This was widely reported on the Thai media and boomed the business of V Club no end with a greater number of boxers working there and a consequent increase in punters seeking them out
Guest BKKvisitor
This is encouraging news overall. I've always admired the cleanliness and overall service level provided at babs, but the ratio of farang-to-Thai in high season caused me to visit much less this past season (as did the rising "commercial" factor).
