Members TownsendPLocke Posted August 12, 2007 Members Posted August 12, 2007 Watcha doin' wednsday night? If you are in West Hollywood how about joining us for dinner at Numbers(yes-I know it has a ridiculous new name-but je refuse!)around 8 The new(straight-but friendly)owners have continued the tradition of what I like to call "cheap bastards night"with a reduced price menu. The Fabulous Brandon Baker is throwing a rentboy.com party at Micky's that night-so I will be heading that way after dinner. Hope to see lots of MERmen and Hoovillians there. Please private me if you plan on attending so I can set a reservation. Quote
TotallyOz Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Hope to see lots of MERmen and Hoovillians there. Thanks. I guess we differ in terms as I have always seen members of this site as Hoovillians. The town split but the residents are still the same. Quote

Went by last night to make a reservation for Wednsday and a sign on the door says something about they are working out their licesing and other issues. I then happned to spy the interim owner outside by the coffee shop and overheard some very troubling news. So no Numbers for this week! Quote

As a former prolific poster on the HooBoy site, who has left there of my own choice,I think y'all need to see yourself as an entinty into itself rather than a spin off. Brands are spun off for a variety of reasons. But dissent amongst principles is never a reason that is looked upon favorably, especcially when the originating brand had some problems. So I suggest that we stop refering to MER as a splitoff and start growing the site as its own invention. At the other site I refered to its readers as Hoovillians. This sites readers/posters I refer to as MERmen. Some might be the same, but hopefully some will be organic to this site. Quote

Both this site and Daddy's site have started growing on its own invention. Since that is the case, why do you refer to it as Hooville? I guess my difference is that with Hoo's death the other site did not carry his torch. You refer to it as doing so. It was simply not the case. As you see it has no reviews before the death of Hooboy. There is a reason for that. The name is different. There is a reason for that. If you want, you can say MERmen and I'll call the other group DaddysBoys. That would make the equation equal in my eye. I just finished sucking off a hot Morman lad and I may have a little cum left in my eye or on my face but I still have pretty good vision. Quote

Members marcanthony Posted August 12, 2007 Members Posted August 12, 2007 Interesting discussion.... And I think the bottom line is that you both make valid points and you are both right. For me... it boils down to a few simple things: 1) Hooboy did us all a great service with his concept and his website. His untimely and way too premature demise was heartbreak for all us. 2) Personally, I didn't like the way management took over the operation of that site, and so I told them so and left. Life is too short and there is way too much to do to hang around a place where you are unhappy and you are not wanted. 3) Fortunately, this site was born, and for me and others, it filled a tremendous void, and I contribute, enjoy, and participate in it as much as I can. 4) Members participate in one site or the other in varying degrees and exclusivity, and for varying reasons. Some post only here, some only there, and others in between. For some the reason is personal and for others it's content driven. It's their call. In my interactions (both in real life and in the virtual world) with these members, I have found there are good guys, bad guys, and ugly guys on both boards and in both worlds. Given all of that... here's my hope for the rest of 2007. 1) I hope traffic increases on this site, because I think the tenor of discussion and the amount of actual information being disseminated is outstanding, and it can only be boosted by like minded people adding themselves to the mix. So MERmen, Hoovillians, whatever you want to call them... go out and recruit more participants for this site! 2) I hope to meet new friends, or more importantly, reconnect with old ones on the road during my remaining travels. As I have mentioned in a previous thread, I think the most long lasting and personally valuable benefit I have had from either board have been the significant friendships and acquaintances I have made with many people from all 3 boards (the old, the new, and the really new). So here's hoping that participation on this site leads to it's intended purpose (and the original Hooboy's intended purpose).... information exchange, fun, pleasure, and entertainment. And since poetry seems to be the preferred communication tool here these days.... A rose by any other name..... Quote

That site is gone. 2 factions of it exist. One is here and one is at Daddy's but both have similar rights to be called the Hoovillians. The family of Hooboy decided it wanted to close the site. It did not take the highest offer to sell the name. It did not want to continue the site. They chose to stop the site and the name from being used. Thus, we now have 2 different groups that were once part of the bigger group. Neither are heir to the throne. The estate made this clear in their decisions. Quote

I could not agree with you more. I have been so busy in the last year with other things (personal and business) that I have not given the time and attention that is needed to bring more traffic into this site. Sept 1st that will change and I'll rededicate myself to bringing this site more traffic and more reviews. Even if I have to review 5 a week myself. Quote
