AdamSmith
Repeating my query originally posted in a different section here: How does one access one's Inbox with the new forum software? I see one way to send a private message to a member, namely by clicking on the Member menu item above, then clicking on the name of the member to get a drop-down menu that includes the option to send a message. But I don't see how to get to my own Inbox. Details: http://www.maleescortreview.com/forum/inde...?showtopic=1565

Aha! Doing the above, then selecting the option to send a message, exposes the full "Your Control Panel" options running down the left side of the screen. Is this the only way to access the Your Control Panel functions?

Not sure if this is any easier than the solution you found, but here’s one that worked for me: 1. Just after the main sign-in screen, I get the “Welcome to Male Escort Review.com†page. Just under the banner is a menu item called “My Membershipâ€. I click it, and go to the “My Membership†page. 2. On the “My Membership†page are icons for “View New Messages†and “View Saved Messagesâ€. Clicking one of those should do the trick. There are probably simpler ways, but they have eluded me so far. Now if I can only figure out what happened to my avatar . . . Members OneFinger
Now if I can only figure out what happened to my avatar . . . When you figure out how to add one (again) let the rest of us know. Mine is now missing, too. (I'm too old for changes.)

OneFinger, thanks, but I don't think the Message functions you describe are the same as the Forum message functions, or at any rate they have not been integrated with the Forum message function. When I do what you suggest, I get a screen telling me that I have no messages. However, when I log in and then click through the Member procedure that I described above, I can access my stored and sent messages. EDIT P.S. -- lookin, sorry for attributing your post as OneFinger's. P.P.S. Glad to see all these avatars reappearing!
AdamSmith
When you figure out how to add one (again) let the rest of us know. Mine is now missing, too. Avatars and many other things are operated from the elusive "Your Control Panel," which the online Help describes in detail, but does not say how to access. After much fumbling, I found one way to get there: 1. Log in. 2. In the gray-brown menu bar running across the top of the Forum, click "Members". 3. Locate your own Member profile. 4. Click on your name. 5. In the resulting drop-down menu, click "Send Message." 6. That opens a Send Message page. Down the left-hand side run of all the "Your control panel" functions. These include Messenger, Personal Profile (Edit Profile Information, Edit Personal Portal Information, Edit Signature, Edit Avatar Settings, Change Personal Photo), and other useful stuff. Maybe site management can tell us a more elegant way into the Control Panel.

It will then let you see the message more clear and easy to reach. My apologies for the inconvenience on this guys! No apologies necessary here! What you've done is create a place where minor snags are an opportunity for some creative workarounds, and for having a little fun. Not a bad place to be. Thanks for all your help! TotallyOz
Now we have the messages Inbox on the main banner at the top when you log in. So, once you log it, the site will tell you if you have messages and how many. Simply click that link and then you are taken to the message center. Second, I apologize for carping now: I don't see the new Inbox link. What other commands/links are in the "main banner", specifically which ones are adjacent to the Inbox link? Running Firefox 1.5.0.12, if that bears on anything...

AdamSmith
Well I don't see the Inbox link either and I am running IE 7. I just sent you a message. Let's see if that makes yours appear somewhere. Barry OK, great! The Message function now appears to be implemented and hooked into the UI better than before. (1) I clicked into the Forum without logging in, and saw Barry's post. I then went back to home page, logged in -- and that caused to appear in the main site menu bar a new link, "You have (1) new message". Main site menu bar is the one that starts "Home", "My Membership", "FAQ", etc. I clicked the link "You have (1) new message", and that took me to the Message screen showing Barry's message to me. I replied to it. (2) Second part of this fix -- the Message function is now integrated with, and accessible through, the "My Membership" button in the main site menu bar. This is what lookin speculated should have been the case week before last, but was not then the case. Good work!
TotallyOz
I think perhaps the messages only appear when a new message is sent to you after the implementation of the new system. It did not take the old messages to the box. The goal of this is to eventually to havre on integrated system. This new message is just one part of that.
