TotallyOz Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 In Pattaya, they are really cracking down on bars and Farangs. You are required by law to carry your passport everywhere in Thailand. It has not been enforced for years. Last week several foreigners were taken to police department as they did not have a copy with them. Many bars have been raided for underage and illegal workers. They also do drug testing on many of the boys. It seems that the recent crackdowns have a bit to do with a new police chief and a bit to do with 2 Russian ladies being killed on Jomptien Beach. While I welcome the legal crackdown, I do hate to have to take my passport everywhere I go. I always took a copy of it and most will say this is OK. It all depends on which officer you talk to. I know of no one who was taken who had a copy of both passport and visa with them. Quote
