In defense of principle

I never had the least interest in the Benjamin Nicholas-based slanging match, and still haven't. I do have a firm impression that it was much ado about nothing.

Be that as it may, my objective here is to applaud TY for using that uproar as the basis for his principled stand on the uses he is unwilling to let this forum be put to. Well done!

All I can say is I agree completely.

Well done TY and well done StuCotts for highlighting it.

Enough is more than enough!

Stu I cannot agree more with you.

I just want to add that the way TY, OZ and Barry run this place is far superior to their competitors mindset. I've been visiting the past year and haven't seen any major problems on this board which is an indication of the vastly different management styles.

As for the thread that was pulled I read it before TY zapped it and he def did the correct thing. It was nothing more than queer bashing in my opinion. Just a guess but I don't think we'll see the author of that thread around here again ... well at least till he registers a new screen name.

In fact in case he is reading this maybe I can suggest a few screen names:

chicago_escort_stalker or how about windy_city_mouth?

The tide has definitely turned.

Thanks. We appreciate that very much. I will say that TY and Barry are the ones that keep the Message Board together. TY is the webmaster here and works overtime. Both are men of great integrity. It has been wonderful to work with them both.

I would hardly call plagiarism nothing.

I agree that there was no reason to reopen the discussion, save for some change in the case, such as Barry or Borowitz filing suit in court. At least TY does it with some class, unlike a certain other admin at a certain other site. But Stu, you have something on your nose.....

Plagiarism in a blog that matters only to the guy who writes it and the few who, for reasons that remain unclear, choose to make it their obsession. The people who should be most involved in this matter are the allegedly plagiarized writers. Have they expressed any interest?

If you are intent on making your own mountain out of that molehill, have at it, and spend no time wondering why some think you might better put your efforts into getting a life.

But

>Stu, you have something on your nose.....

I take it you think I'm brown-nosing TY. I have nothing to gain by it. Actually, I'm just acknowledging merit and adherence to principle where I see it. Why does that make you uncomfortable?

In the same playful spirit of your remark, I submit that what you see on my nose I see seeping out of your ears as it overflows the place where your brain should be.

Thanks to all for the words of support. Now, please let's don't start a mini-skirmish among those that share that supportive view. Let's keep tits and tats referring to body parts and arts. :P

I know you would like to think that you are taking the high road, but you've engaged in at least two childish personal attacks on me for no particular reason. That in and of itself shows that you are not. I'd like to think that we can engage in disagreements here without resorting to childish behavior, but I guess that's too much to expect.

For childish, read effective, and no more personal than yours. I meant the tone of my reply to be as playful as yours. Looks like yours wasn't, huh?

In any case, my intent, until I read your latest contribution, was to reply as follows to TY's post:

"I abhor acrimony as dehumanizing. Nonetheless, my instinctive reaction, honed long ago in inhospitable bars among malevolent people, is never to shrink from it if it is brought to me. Water under the bridge. I am amenable to a Pax TYana if everybody else is. Cheers."

You agree to abide by that? Fine. You don't agree to abide by that? Also fine. It's not life and death.

Much ado about nothing?

For those of us who've had less interest in Benjamin Nicholas than the "Benjamin Nicholas slanging match", I thought the whole thing was not very unexpected, and somewhat entertaining from the outside. Ben, seems to me, loves a controversy if it keeps "his name in the news" - to me, he often initiated them, and, unfortunately for him, this time, he lost the battle before he could fire a shot.

Don't be shocked he'll have to deal with hostility he's generated towards him over the years, especially when he handed everything to them this time (ie, his more 'obsessive' critics) on a silver platter. It hasn't been forgotten, wasn't "much ado about nothing" and I wouldn't be commenting but him as the poor victimized Benjamin? Give. Me. A. Break.

And don't put me in either pro- or anti- camp. Well, maybe you've figured out which camp I'd be parked closer to though.

Obviously you're obsessed, or why the post?

Congratulate yourself, as congrats are defininitely in order, for being just another troll, who has succeeded in ruining a perfectly gentlemanly thread.

Instead of obsessing about something as insignificant as a blog that plagiarizes, your time could be better spent looking at that ugly troll in your bathroom mirror and figuring out just what you need to do to turn him into Prince Charming?

Oh, please, can't you challenge us with something just a little more difficult? Something along the lines of "does a black cat have an asshole"?

Well, can't state for certain about the black cat, but it seems MER has just aquired one.

"Instead of obsessing about something as insignificant as a blog that plagiarizes..."

A blog that plagiarizes? Ben's blog?!? He has absolute moral authority in this escort kingdom! Oh say it isn't so!

If a "troll" found the whole thing damn entertaining and didn't lose any sleep over it, then color me blue, give me a staff, and put me under the bridge.

LOL, I just skimmed his blog and he has a picture of his dead "friend" Anna Nicole's fridge contents and his fridge contents (a slew of facial beauty products, to keep him forever "21", I suppose) Uhm, I'd go back to Dave Barry material. Not that I ever read it then to begin with - either in the newspaper or on Barry's official blog or the one I'm "obsessed" about (the insignificant one)

"Instead of obsessing about something as insignificant as a blog that plagiarizes, your time could be better spent looking at that ugly troll in your bathroom mirror and figuring out just what you need to do to turn him into Prince Charming?"

I think I need to rob Ben's place!

Time to close this thread before it becomes one of those 'open season' threads that prompted my actions and the generation of this thread. Thanks to all for the supportive comments.
