Guest FourAces Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 The past 10 months has been an amazing journey one that I hope will not end. Yikes, can someone please call the paramedics TY has just fainted at the site of me posting again Poker keeps me traveling and I have discovered I needed a notebook so I finally purchased one. I also have found that I'm not a very good tournament player but a brilliant cash game player. The game has kept me very comfortable the past 10 months ... and I look forward to that continuing as I now have chosen to play poker as my career. Anybody that would like to talk/ chat poker let me know your messenger or aim name and I can try to give you a few tips ... or you can help me keep in mind for cash games not tournaments. Best way to contact me is through my inbox here at the message center not email. I hope all is well with everyone. -------------------------------- All my life people have underestimated me. I find that amusing but accept the advantage. Quote
Guest StuCotts Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 You may want to adopt a theme song. It could help unnerve your opponents. My suggestion is: Who Played Poker* With Pocahontas When John Smith Went Away. It dates back to WWI days and, I think, can be googled. *A NY accent would probably work best here. (And when doesn't it?) It's more alliterative if you pronounce it "pokah". I say all the above in envy. If I tried to earn my living as you do I'd starve within days. Break a leg! Quote
TotallyOz Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Welcome back. I have yet to master the Texas Hold Em game on my computer. I have played about 2,000 times and never won a tournament. I hope your 10 months were enjoyable and fun and you have lots of cash to throw around for a few months. Quote
Members marcanthony Posted April 2, 2007 Members Posted April 2, 2007 Sadly, there is no texas hold-em in the Montreal casino. The only poker there is 3 card, Carribean, Pai Gow, and let it ride. lol Welcome back! Quote
TotallyOz Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 >The only poker there is 3 card, Carribean, Pai Gow, and let it >ride. lol I just bet that the Let it Ride is right up your alley? LOL Quote
Members TampaYankee Posted April 2, 2007 Members Posted April 2, 2007 >I just bet that the Let it Ride is right up your alley? >LOL Whose alley? Naw, not his game. He prefers to roll the dice in the hay, sheets, carpet,... Well, just like Cher sang: the beat list goes on. Quote
Guest FourAces Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Hey Oz give up on the tournaments. There are maybe a dozen players that can claim they are ahead of the tournament game. It's an illusion that tournament players are actually winners. I've done my homework on this and you know what ... there are no statistics kept on tournament players so we really don't know if they're ahead or behind. Sure we see the big wins but how many tournaments did that player enter and at what cost, what is his hourly rate? Cash games are really the way to go. Seriously I have witnessed people winning more money in one long session than most people earn in a year at the higher stakes. Even at the mid-level stakes (where I now play) I see thousands of dollars being won by savvy players. If you understand the dynamics of a cash game your hourly rate can easily run $100./hr. You gave me a suggestion on a business question I had for you a while back. I recently am slowly very slowly rolling that suggestion out. Anyway, If I can help in return with your poker game just contact me. btw try to play live not on the computer. I know you travel a lot and that might be hard to do but if you find yourself in a city where there are card rooms or casinos that would be your best bet. Quote
Guest FourAces Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 > >I say all the above in envy. If I tried to earn my living as >you do I'd starve within days. Break a leg! Hey Stu, you obviously don't know me but I assure you it will be years before i will "starve," even with the weight I have lost To be honest it cost me a lot of money to learn the game well. And regardless of how well anyone understands the game there is still a percentage of luck that no one can factor in. If you decide to give it another try or just want to chat about the games dynamics get in touch. I'm always looking to pay it forward as they say ... I had a very good teacher and willing to share. Guest FourAces Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Thanks for the WB Marc. I'm shocked that their is no Holdem in Montreal. I'm shocked you are now living (?) in Montreal ... well considering most would have moved the other direction But I do understand why you're there and somewhat jealous. I love to play pai gow. It is so stress free I can sit down with $500. and hours later leave with $500. It's a fun game and the trick is if you are certain how to play the house will set the cards for you in most casinos. It's a fun game not one to really make any money at unless one wants to truly gamble but I do enjoy playing it for entertainment. Quote
Guest BewareofNick Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Welcome back my friend. I have actually started watching poker on TV because of you. Quote
