Guest epigonos Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 For honesty sake let me start by starting that I have already posted this same question on man4man. It seems that on that site only about four or five reviews are appearing each day where in the mast it was many more. On this site it is usually only one. What is hapening? Are guys hiring less? Are guys just NOT writing reviews? Man4man has been my major source for locating outstanding escorts and I had hoped that this site would also become vaulable but that doesn't seem to be happening. The old source seems to be drying up and this one doesn't seem to be taking off. So whast is the story????? Quote
Members TownsendPLocke Posted October 26, 2006 Members Posted October 26, 2006 Well I for one-and there are quite a few others-have grown so disgusted by the the Bill and Deej show that we no longer participate"overthere"I posted my first review here recently and will continue to submit them to this site rather than the feifdom of the othersite. Hooboys site started as a very small internet chat group and grew to a nice size(love it when things that look small grow to a nice size)and I hope this site does the same. Quote
Guest epigonos Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Hi TownsendPLocke, I frist started participating on the Hooboy site in the fall of 2002. Thus my first forum posts and reviews went up well prior to HooBoy death. You state that you and other have become disgusted with "the Bill and Deej show". I sincerely don't understand what you mean by that. Would you mind explaining? Please understand that I'm NOT being sarcastic nor am I trying to be a provocatueur. I am simply and sincerely seeking information. Thanks Quote
Members marcanthony Posted October 27, 2006 Members Posted October 27, 2006 I can only speak for myself. I used to hire a LOT... and I wrote a tremendous amount of reviews on the Hooboy site. I don't know the exact number... but it was large. Basically, if I hired, I reviewed. And I hired a lot. I think I would still review if I hired, but I hire WAY WAY less now. It's not that I have lost interest in boys... the opposite actually. If anything, they occupy morre of my time. I just look for different types of relationships now... and I look for them in different places. Basically I have befriended tons of cute wonderful boys at clubs and online (most of whom are in Montreal). Some of those relationships lead to sex, and some do not. I cherish both types. And that's what I do mainly now. I do occasionally hire, and when I do, I review. When I review, I review here at MER. I will never contribute another piece of information on the former hooboy site. It's my own issue, and I needn't rehash it over and over as I have spoken my piece on several occasions. But I won't participate in a place where respect and loyalty are not given to those who helped it grow. It's my issue, and so I just stopped participating there.. it's really that simple. It's all good. Quote

What??? You DON'T hire anymore??? I guess that could happen when the jetsetter has to pay out of his own pocket rather than the company pocket, huh??? Guest epigonos Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Hey everybody can't we please stick to my original questions without going into attack mode. Personally I thought marcanthony did a excellent job addressing my first questions and politely declined to answer the second. That is certainly his right and I, for one, have no problem with his post. Quote
Members Buddy2 Posted October 27, 2006 Members Posted October 27, 2006 I was in an accident 18 months ago that stopped me from hiring and writing reviews. It also gave me much time to think about all the money I was spending on escorts. Now I hire fewer guys and have fallen out of the habit of writing reviews. Perhaps I am not the only person who just decided to do other things with his money, yet still participates in this forum. Quote
Members TampaYankee Posted October 27, 2006 Members Posted October 27, 2006 A couple of observations: We cannot post what isn't submitted. Our acceptance rate runs roughly 75% to 80% of what is submitted. Overall trend for us is up. It seems reviews run in tides or groups. Early on we averaged less than one per day. Now we average 1.5 per day or so over the last couple of months (I didnt do the math just gut calculation) We only place new reviews and responses to reviews in the Latest Reviews list. No photos or phone updates. Maybe the overall climate is being influenced the by the increase in rates over the last year. Asking $300 has become relatively widespread beyond the biggest Cities even. Even $250 on the broad horizon was considered high a year ago. Eventually a saturation point will be reached. Maybe it has been? Maybe contributors have become frustrated with the review environment. It has always been easier to read and reap the reviews than to contribute, for any number of reasons. It is clear from reading the sites that some have become weary or wary or discouraged or discontent with the review publication process. Questions of delay, complaints of rejection or worse, reviews disappearing into limbo, not only disccouage those contributors but other potential contributors too. Maybe not. Ultimately competition is good. Those dissatisified with one sight have alternatives. I know we have picked up a few reviews originally destined for other sites and I know that other sites have picked up reviews originally destined for us. It all comes back to the basic premise for whatever reason: we cannot post what isn't submitted. Quote
Guest VoxPennae Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 For the most part I find many of the "reviews" to be less than helpful of late. Many of them don't provide enough detail for me to make a hiring decision. That's true on Daddy's site and this one in my personal opinion. Further, like the housing market, escort rates are getting to the point of absurdity. It won't be long before we see the $350 level for some guys on a regular basis. And I am talking about guys who are not pornstars. This may be only in the major markets like NY and LA but there's many a guy in much smaller markets who think they can command the same rate. I have begun to pass on more and more guys who I feel the rates they ask are no where near what I am willing to pay. (Hmmmm, kind of resembles what's happening in the housing market these days.) Before some escort takes offense and starts in on me, let me state that the escort has every right to ask the rate he feels he's worth. Fine, it's up to the market to confirm that. But many guys are just not worth taking the chance on a new hire, with few, no, suspect, or unhelpful reviews, to spend that kind of money. Will rates decline? Nope, not expecting that to happen at all. Will there be greater willingness to negotiate time and rates (Scott Adler excepted)? Perhaps, the smarter guys will make adjustments based on market conditions. As for me, I am hiring less and it will likely be that way for a while. Quote
Guest StuCotts Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 My understanding is that if daddysreviews is losing reviewers it is because of the increasingly widespread impression that they are completely inscrutable, arbitrary and unapologetic in their choice of which reviews to post, and that they are highly tolerant of phony self-reviews submitted by escorts. Who wants to lend his time and effort to a site whose discredit expands daily? Other contributors to this thread have suggested a burnout factor for reviewers as a reason for generally fewer reviews. I can understand that. Those who point to increased escort rates to explain both less reviewing and less hiring have all my attention. I am a relatively recent arrival to this business, but it's clear even to me that the going rate is moving fast from the 200-250 to the 250-300 range. Escorts are within their rights to charge anything the market will bear, but I have trouble figuring out what a $300 escort can do for or to me that I haven't already experienced for $200 or so. Members Lucky Posted October 27, 2006 Members Posted October 27, 2006 Remember when the directive came down from on high that the other web site wasn't going to be discussed here? That we were all moving on? "What' Happening" with that? Quote
Members KYTOP Posted October 27, 2006 Members Posted October 27, 2006 I continue to post reviews on both sites but review more guys here. If I met the guy threw the other site then I'll usually also review them there or if I think it is info that could be helpful or even help the guys business. I think part of the problem with the other site is the fact that it takes so long for your review to be posted, up to 6 weeks some times. In the escort business 6 weeks can change alot of things. It takes alot of effort for me to submit a review, time writing it, proofing it, etc... then to see it just lag there is a problem for me. From my experience my reviews get up faster here and I also get information or explanation from TY if there seems to be a question or problem with any info I also agree with Mark's comments that I may summarize as the other site is not customer friendly and that has driven some people that made great contributions to Hooboy's efforts leave. I have also slowed abit in my hiring, instead saving my $ for trips to Brazil and Thailand. I think that the rate issue may have an effect but I wonder maybe more so on embarrassment to admit that one paid $300 -$350 for 1 hour with a guy. Might also be a reason that some reviews seem to skip or not be specific with the rate question. As long as guys are horny there will always be customers. Quote
Members TampaYankee Posted October 27, 2006 Members Posted October 27, 2006 >Remember when the directive came down from on high that the >other web site wasn't going to be discussed here? That we were >all moving on? Umm... no I don't. I must have missed it, but then a lot more gets past me these days than in the past. I'm not soliciting discussion of daddys here. I am not aware that it was forbidden. I do recall some complaints and some individuals swearing off. Personally, I'm all for moving on with regard to issues such as legitimacy, pedigree, personalities etc., and I might have posted such but... Epignos posed a question about the quantity of reviews posted at both sites. I don't see how a comprehensive response can ignore the sites without ignoring the question. And that is ok too. Quote

caeron Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I hire when I travel. With the increase in prices, some of the places I go (NYC for example), I don't bother. Hiring is for fun, but there are various ways to have fun with my money. When it gets more expensive than I think it's worth, I move on to those other things. I make enough, but I'm enough of a yankee to do a double take at some of the prices asked these days. I review when I hire, and haven't traveled much lately, and hired less. In the past I posted to Hooboy. I think now I'll post here. I like the climate better. Quote
Members TampaYankee Posted October 28, 2006 Members Posted October 28, 2006 > >I hire when I travel. With the increase in prices, some of >the places I go (NYC for example), I don't bother. My view of, and experience with, NYC is just the opposite. While there are many to who ask top dollar I have never had a problem finding hot guys, ready willing and able, asking reasonable rates. My secret (no secret at all) is doing the research and not getting fixated on any specific individual. The plus to NYC is there are many service providers thus is provides a spectrum of looks, services, and pricing. Quote

We're 65 (just bumped into a countdown clock yesterday) days away from New Years. The weeks leading into (and just after) the holidays are traditionally slower than normal because people are busy Christmas shopping, traveling to spend time with family, etc., instead of out having fun. Instead of saying "Yeah it has been a little slow"or"ya know-you're right-we are kinda slow and lazy around here-that's why we take ALL holidays and the weekends off-and whenever else we feel like it"neither this fella nor his Boss will ever apologize"nor admit a mistake-and he has to have the last word-always. Guest VoxPennae Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Why not take that issue up on Deej's site then? If you have issue with what he's stated then it would seem to me it would be more appropriate to challenge him in the forum in which it originated. Interestingly in the thread on that site Deej's explanation has not even warranted a response. His theory is as valid as the next. Why one could even say the low number of reviews on both sites has to do with the phases of the moon. (I am being facetious for those who don’t pick up on that.) Looks like the discussion has moved along rather well and a variety of thoughts have been shared. Not a single mention of what's been addressed in this thread has been mentioned. In this thread we've had attacks on another site, had a bird of prey poster return with his usual hawkish attacks, and a challenge to the management for statements it may or may not have made vis-à -vis another site. In other words it’s almost business as usual from my perspective. In regard to the subject at hand I also think it's interesting that not a single escort has chimed in on either thread that I can tell. Maybe a few would rather just collect three hundred an hour for doing almost nothing and not have it reviewed. Quote

Well, Towny, your version is certainly more salacious and colorful but mine is accurate and honest without advancing a personal vendetta. Over the last five years, there has always been a major traffic dip on labor day weekend followed by a brief recovery and gradual slide through the holidays. That trend is somewhat mitigated this year with a new site coming online, etc., but here's a graphic that clearly shows the Labor Day plunge and a gradual slide. I'm sure the same graphic a month from now will continue to show the gradual slide towards the holidays. http://www.dfapam.com/trafficslide.gif Note that this is not a fair comparison graphic. The daddysreviews.com stats do not include the message center which is on another domain entirely while MER's stats do include this forum, as well as any traffic related to escorts creating and updating their profiles. So it's not a fair comparison, but it does clearly show the dips and slides I've described. Quote
