Guest FourAces Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 According to the Hooville Village News http://hoovillenews.blogspot.com one of my favorite escorts, Benjamin Nicholas has been nominated for a few Rentboy Awards. If you want to vote for him you can do so at this link, http://www.rentboy.com/awards Quote
Members marcanthony Posted August 25, 2006 Members Posted August 25, 2006 Hey Aces: Thanks for pointing out the contest... I wasn't aware there was one. Lots of hot guys... but one thing that I did notice was the obvious dearth of twinks. Now I know that rentboy has never been that popular with the younger set, but I have just generally noticed a decline in the number of twink escorts.... unless I am missing them somewhere. Guess I should just count my blessings that I have found Montreal, where it appears that lots of very gorgeous twinks seem geniunely fond of older guys (and by older guys, I don't just mean dead Presidents... or prime ministers as the case may be up there)! lol Quote
Guest FourAces Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Mark I agree about the lack of fresh twink escorts. I think there might be a few reasons for this. Many of the twink escorts are in college and with school out they tend to travel and just chill. I think with school starting up again we'll hopefully see a wave of fresh talent. Plus maybe a return of a few old favorites. The past year I have been doing a fair amount of travelling within the states. Ive had some great experiences with Craigslist. While it takes quite a bit more time than typical to filter through the BS I generally find a hot unknown twink in almost every city I end up in. And I've been in some not so likely places. But getting back to the awards I too am a little surprised at the lack of twinks, in fact, they should have had a category best twink escort. After all they have best top, best bottom, best muscle and so on. I do hope that Ben wins his two nominations. Quote
Members marcanthony Posted August 25, 2006 Members Posted August 25, 2006 > >The past year I have been doing a fair amount of travelling >within the states. Ive had some great experiences with >Craigslist. Actually I have found some pretty decent success here as well. In fact, when I went to Vegas recently, I was pretty certain that I wasn't going to hire anyone because I really didn't see any quality twink escorts in the city. Then one night, I looked through CL and found a very cute 19 yo twink bottom visiting from Idaho, looking to make a few extra bucks. It was a HIGH quality time with a really cute young guy, and it probably saved me big bucks by keeping me off the tables! Quote
Guest jessedane Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I think the lack of twinks on Rentboy boils down to the fact that the site tends to just be pretty much downright unfriendly towards twinks. I had an ad on the site for 2 months in the past and got a total of 2 responses from it. Why would twinks want to advertise on a site that doesn't bring in clientel who wants them? Rentboy has always been and seems to keep being a site that mostly caters towards muscular escorts. As far as these awards, I find them to be very ridiculous. If they had titled them the rentboy.com awards then maybe they would have a tiny little minute amount of some credibility. But calling them the "first international escort awards" is completely ludacris when the only escorts even eligable for nomination are people who pay them $50+ a month. I mean there are people nominated on this list (i'm not naming names) who have garnered some fairly bad reputations and I personally know clients who have had horrific experiences with some of them. If this is the "best of the industry" then it's just plain sad. Quote

It's always good to hear what personal experiences escorts can share. Like I said in my post, I know that twink escorts have never been really overflowing on rentboy... but my observation was also that they are getting more scarce everywhere. I can only say to that... I hope I am wrong, and if I am not wrong, I hope it's temporary! Quote
Guest mbarz Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Thanks Four Aces...I just put my vote in for him! Quote
Members Buddy2 Posted August 25, 2006 Members Posted August 25, 2006 I have received three e-mails in the last 48 hours asking me to vote for one of the finalists in Sexiest Escort category. Since I believe he is a legitimate finalist in that catgory, I did gladly vote for him. Ben is a finalist in the correct categories: Best Escort, Best Website. He does shine in those areas. He doesn't belong as a finalist in the Sexiest Escort category. Hope my guy wins, although the "get out the vote" tactics make all this meaningless. Quote
Guest Johnnybrk25 Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 They are getting scarce. I think the American diet has quite a few guys twunked out. I've noticed there are many places I can't purchase clothes from they are all too large. Even the stores that cater to the teen set are emphasizing the larger sizes in their selection. For the Chicago winter I had to buy little boys thermals because I couldn't find any in mens that would fit. Obesity is becoming more and more of a problem. People are sedentary and eat all the wrong foods to maintain their health. I doubt twinks are going to become more plentiful soon. Quote
Guest TNTTed Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Call me cynical, but ..... does anyone really believe that the "best of ... " voting at Rentboy has any sort of credibility?? As a thinking client, I will consider the results to be meaningless. They will in no way influence any choices I make. The only advantage will be for the escorts who "win". They'll get more publicity. So why not dispense with the BS "voting" and put the honors out for bid. Quote
Guest straycat Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I don't believe anyone will take them too seriously. After all it has been correctly pointed out that all of the nominated escorts are reantboy.com advertisers. Needless to say the nomination process is slightly tainted. However, the awards are meant to be fun. So why not have fun voting and just relax and enjoy? Really, is anyone being hurt or cheated by this rentboy.com sponsored event? Quote

Members flguy Posted August 25, 2006 Members Posted August 25, 2006 I also got an email from an escort yesterday asking me to vote for him, strange that I have never hired this guy before but he has my email address. Hummmmmmmm Quote
Guest SouthernMan Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Well, since there isn't any control over casting mulitple votes, I voted for BN twice already, and think I will vote another 20 or more times!, because I like BN! A big hearty thanks goes out from me to Rico, for bringing this to my attention! Rico Rocks!!! And what is with the complaints that Rentboy is limiting the voting to escorts that pay to advertise on their site?? Now, who would have thought that escorting and agencies and rent boy sites were about business, and not a Miss Universe pageant? Just scandalous Miss Scarlett, just scandalous!! As far as twink escorts, yawn!!, as most of them, in my experiences have just been totally tweaked out bottoms, and the very few that are tops?, well calling them boring would be an accolade. Can't find them on Rentboy, then have you tried the NAMBLA site (I hear that there is a brand new review site for their members)? Where are they?? I don't know, maybe their priests told them to say 100 Hail Marys and go back to their 9th grade algebra class?? What? they're out of high school??, Okay, I guess some people just like that junior high school boy look in men??? Whatever rocks the old boat. :7 Quote

What? they're out of high school??, Okay, I guess some >people just like that junior high school boy look in men??? >Whatever rocks the old boat. :7 I've always been intrigued that so many gay people feel the need to disparage the tastes and preferences of other gay people. It's fascinating. I assume that if you truly are a "Southern Man" and grew up in the South, that it wasn't/isn't easy being gay. Just curious... are you totally out to your community, family, friends? If not, why not? If so, have you always been, or was it a struggle to decide to do so? I can understand gay people might resent other gay people who bring negative attention to the group as a class due to their actions (e.g. pedophiles), but so gleefully criticizing the legal tastes and preferences of other gays seems contrary to best interest. As a group, gays are still legally and socially second class simply because a majority considers their taste and preference offensive. Maybe it's all part of the same syndrome that abused children abuse their own children. Or that hazed pledges haze the next generation. For me, I am still hoping that in my lifetime, I will see a generation grow up where a child really has no legal or social stigma growing up just because his/her sexual preference is different than the loudest voice. I just worry that this will be difficult if we are too busy deriding each other. Quote
Members seaboy4hire Posted August 26, 2006 Members Posted August 26, 2006 MA I know that your post was directed at SM but well thought I'd throw my half cent worth into the pot. From what I get from his post about twinks well at least part of it is why would a grown adult man would have such an attraction to someone who looks like they might still be in the 9th grade? It does seem kind of odd even to myself on these types of attractions. To me imo it is almost like playing with fire, like they are maybe trying to live out some fantasy of being with someone who looks like they are still in 9th grade but still (hopefully) of legal age. I realize there are many differnt types of attractions but there is something that just doesn't fit when someone in the upper age bracket is chasing after barely legal boys. Hugs, Greg Quote
Members marcanthony Posted August 26, 2006 Members Posted August 26, 2006 >MA I know that your post was directed at SM but well thought >I'd throw my half cent worth into the pot. From what I get >from his post about twinks well at least part of it is why >would a grown adult man would have such an attraction to >someone who looks like they might still be in the 9th grade? Fair question, Greg. But my definition of twink is not "someone who looks like he is in the 9th grade." I just want to make it clear that no one is talking about pedophilia here. We are talking about attractions to college age guys. Twink: smooth, slim, youthful. Twink escorts that attract me currently: Andre from Raleigh (Adam Smith's future husband) , Justin Masters LA, Jonathan (Fort Lauderdale), and Trey Thurston (NC). None of them look anything like a 9th grader. When I go to Montreal, many of the college boys there that I meet in dance clubs don't even think twice about hanging out with me (a guy 20 years their senior). Many of them are genuinely attracted (I know this for a fact because no money ever changes hands). I know I am attracted to them. Is that wrong? I know it doesn't happen much in the US, but maybe their culture has it right. I know I like it better. So just as you may ask a question ... why would a grown adult man have such an attraction to someone significantly younger than they are ... 150 million Americans ask the question why would a grown man have an attraction to another man. And hence "our" (gay) problem. I am just saying... deliver what you expect. If you want your differences tolerated, tolerate the differences in others. Quote
Guest BostonGuy Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 >I am just saying... deliver what you expect. If you want your >differences tolerated, tolerate the differences in others. > It doesn't get too much clearer than that, does it, Marc? BG Quote
Guest TNTTed Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Thanks for straightening me out, Straycat! You're absolutely right. I don't know why I looked at that with any sort of seriousness. I've chilled. Hell, I may even vote. Quote
Members Buddy2 Posted August 26, 2006 Members Posted August 26, 2006 Exactly, BG. I do not particularly like Benjamin Nicholas, yet I voted for him (once, not twenty times) in the two categories in which he was nominated. I would have voted for Rico if his blog had been nominated, even though I like him even less than BN. There's a good feeling on this site, a trying to trying to uit oneself in the other person's shoes. Let's try to keep that. It's sad that Marc has to even defend himself. Quote

Why would you vote for someone of whom you do not like? That's like going to a movie, not liking it, but then voting for it when given an opportunity to do so. Why not just simply not vote at all? Having tolerance for others, in my mind, does equate to compromising your own point of view, simply to excerise an opportunity to participate in a vote. Imho. :-) Quote

Members Buddy2 Posted August 26, 2006 Members Posted August 26, 2006 Via e-mail Tristan Waters asked me to vote for him as Sexiest Male escort. I did not know about the contest until receiving his e-mail earlier thus week. When I got to the two categories which Benjamin is in (neither of which involve Tristan), I did have to stop and think. My conclusion was that BN is a part of our community. He makes an effort to post on a fairly regular basis on Daddy's site. He puts considerable effort into his blog. That is worth something. Quote
Members BenjaminNicholas Posted August 26, 2006 Members Posted August 26, 2006 Guys, Regardless of how you feel about me personally, i really appreciate your vote and thank you for taking the time to do so. Like anyone out there, i've made my fair share of mistakes, but overall i still think i've given quite a bit of myself to this industry. Through my experiences with the people i've seen and met in passing, i've grown not only as a person, but as a writer and entertainer as well. It's been an incredible 4 years... In any event, thanks for keeping this cordial and i do hope to post more often here at MER. Looks like a nice place Warmest, Benjamin Nicholas Quote
