Guest FourAces
Who most of you are asking. Well Jamie Gold is the man who won the main event of the largest prize purse in the history of sports. In fact, the purse was so large the top 6 sport purses combined don't even equal the 2006 World Series of Poker event. Jamie netted 12 million dollars outlasting a filed of nearly 9000 players. Second place at the main event paid a mere 6 million. Jamie Gold is a former New Yorker who has been living in Southern California most of his adult life. He wasn't a professional poker player. Oh to add to his 12 million dollar win Jamie signed a sponsorship deal with Bodog.com for a little pocket change, 25 million dollars is the reported amount. Now you have a little information about Jamie Gold. However the reason for this post goes far beyond the above statistics. The post has been made because I wonder how many professional poker players are Gay. Poker is still considered a "man's sport" where tough men chewing tobacco make jokes about fags and blacks between hands. Its an acceptable type of locker room humor that also extends to which service provider has the biggest tits or nicest ass. Is a politically incorrect world on the green felt. I find it difficult to sit at a table without objecting. However, i just let it go s I know the repercussions could be extreme and endless. Personally my instinct tells me there are several well know professional players whom are Gay. I wouldn't take any bets that one will come out of the closet anytime soon. There is too much money at stake ... the poker world isn't ready for a Elton John or Freddie Mercury yet.
