Escortspeak:RIP?

Perhaps you missed Tampa's post earlier in this thread. Let me summarize...... knock it off.

Enjoy the weekend.

I did actually miss that post Barry, thanks for pointing it out.

I was just trying to make the point to Conway and anyone else that most of the members of Escortspeak have been here from the start without any incident. There is no need for him to worry about an "infestation" now that ES is shut down. "His" board is safe, I believe we have shown we can follow the rules of this board, so maybe Conway can stop looking for trouble were there is none.

You have a good weekend too!

I have to back mbarz up on this one. We've all been here for a while and no one has been misbehavin. We all like this board because of all the familiar faces, plus the added bonus of NO DEEJ!! (You'll remember deej as the architect of The Great Meltdown [TM and Copyright deej] over at the Neverland Ranch, which in turn lead to the formation of escortspeak, due in great part to deej's out of control behavior and banishment of so many posters for no apparent reason.

I wasn't sure if I was going to chime in on this thread, mainly because I wasn't sure if I had anything constructive to add. But, I think as someone who doesn't have any emotional attachment one way or the other to the whole issue, maybe my general thoughts on the subject might be interesting to some.

First, I didn't participate much on escortspeak, and not at all toward the end. I actually am a firm believer in open dialogue and freedom of expression, so I thought the idea was a good one... so initially I did post there. Eventually, it just wasn't my cup of tea, and so just as freedom of expression is important to me, so is freedom of choice...and I chose to move on.

I am also a firm believer in appropriate action/behavior in appropriate settings. I would even expect my twink skater date to dress nicely, put a napkin in his lap, and address the waiters with thank you and please if we happen to go to a 5 star restaurant. ^_^ what a fucking analogy!!! (but hey, it's an escort board). So when rules of behavior are established in a community, it's appropriate for all who choose to populate that community to try to comply.

That being said... I am both a social person and a philosophically inclusive one, so it's always my hope that as many people as possible can feel welcome in a community, but also abide by the basic rules established for that community.

After that incredibly verbose preamble... I guess what I am basically trying to say is that I didn't really like escortspeak as it had evolved, so I didn't go there. But I am also sad that it closed, because some people did have a home there, and found its parameters acceptable for their own uses. (my opinion on this would change if the allegation that there was illegal activity on that board is a true one, but to date, no one has presented any evidence that this is the case)

I am also glad that some members from there have posted here in the past completely within the rules of this board, and have now returned with a pledge to continue to do more of the same.

That's really how I feel... and I'll know I have the correct opinion if I have managed to piss off every single person who reads it.

If you want to waste your sweet dreams on someone you've never known nor never will know, then so be it.

The site had such potential. Did ChgoBoy finally go over the edge and take the site with her? I never liked her.

hey marc interesting view. obviously i am somewhat emotionally involved but in a positive way.

first i love the analogy. as a fellow twink lover it is perfect ^_^

my absolute biggest mistake was not establishing any rules. my post away unedited line should have said post away with civility unedited. when i tried to inject civility my late to the table partner disagreed with me as did others on the board. therefore, there never were rules for anyone to follow :(

as the person who finally put the final nail on escortspeak the illegal activity is really a stretch. i don't want to go into details other to say that it probably should have read violation of ezboard tos. the only thing close to illegal activity was some 2257 compliance issues but they are so vague no one really knows.

-------------

to jackhammer: on the other site you mentioned maybe i would open another message center ... not a chance. long ago i moved on to other more interesting ventures and have been very busy building my career as a professional poker player. i would post the reply to you on the other board but i'm saving my last 3 screen names ... for now }(

Perhaps not, but that didn't stop you from accepting the $2,200.00 he raised for you through his Katrina fund at escortspeak did it? Character goes a long way sometimes and sometimes not.

Thanks for clearing that up, aces. So given there appears to be have been no "real" illegal activity... my above post pretty much stands as I wrote it.

And honestly, I wouldn't have too many regrets if I were you, aces. Like I said above... it wasn't for me, and obviously wasn't for you... but it was for some, and it had its place, and its day in the sun. It's a big world, and there needs to be homes for all of us.

Good luck in whichever tournament you're in. If you win, I think the twinks in that town will be pretty damn happy (and maybe even the 5 star restaurants! lol)

I haven't had the opportunity to hire them yet, but I am told that Mr. McAlister has a huge, er, following. ;)
