Guest FourAces Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Hey it's no secret that I play poker from time to time hence the user name I rarely comment on my playing but aside from one major downward turn I've been pretty solid overall. This past week I entered a $2,500. + 250.buy in no limit tournament. I normally don't play many tournaments, I prefer cash games ... but I have placed in the money in past tournaments. What makes this tournament so special is I won, numero uno baby A whopping $79,000. was my prize I promised I would donate some of the money to my favorite escort I mean charity if I won and will do so ... that being a project for street kids in San Diego. I've supported this project to the best of my ability for many years and so no reason to stop doing so now. But the rest, well FUN TIMES AT ACES THIS WEEKEND Quote
Members BenjaminNicholas Posted February 16, 2006 Members Posted February 16, 2006 Very cool 4A. Congrats! Are they going to present you with one of those oversized cardboard checks, ala the Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol? You might want to start working on your 'getting flowers, shedding a tear and gnashing teeth for the cameras' routine. *wink* But seriously, i'm happy you're also doing something worthwhile with it. I'm not sure how much will be taken by the IRS, but it's always good to hear about people coming into money and spreading it around a little. The charities out there that actually HELP (and not just sponge from donors) are always in need of support, financially or otherwise. ~BN Quote

Members KYTOP Posted February 17, 2006 Members Posted February 17, 2006 WOW, not a gambler even living in a state known for its race horses, but looks like you did good. Congrats and enjoy. Quote
Members TampaYankee Posted February 17, 2006 Members Posted February 17, 2006 I'll add my congrats to the list. Nice going. I second a modest celebratory road trip if you have the time. }( Quote
TotallyOz Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Gambling is a sin. It is not something that should be allowed in a civilized country. I think you should be ashamed. I'll tell you what, I am heading to Vegas for a "business" triip. Why don't you send me that money and I'll make sure it is redistributed to the right places. JK Wow! Congrats. Being a mild gambler myself (maximum 100US a day when I am on land and 200US when I am at sea), I have always wondered what it would be like to actually win big. I am glad you now know! I hope you have a hell of a time. Just remember my moto in life, ---Life is here, life is now. Life is soooo short... and sex is just too delicious! Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne and Strawberries in one hand, Diet Coke and Godiva Chocolate in the other, a personal bottle of Eros, A BOX OF TROJAN MAGNUMS, and a good Cuban cigar in the your pockets (ALL partially used), a wallet ALMOST empty of currency but noticeably used from the rainbow colors of THE SEVERAL bills THAT REMAIN from a multitude of countries and cards charged to the max from the joys of life, body thoroughly used up, OLD AS TIME ITSELF, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!--- Oz Quote

Guest FourAces Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Thanks for the good wishes. I know I was very lucky especially being up against several players who play professionally. The last few tournaments I entered I placed in the money on the very low end but it gave me the confidence that I could reach the larger money at some point. Anyway, aside from some celebrating Texas style this very cold weekend, I'm going to be taking my first trip to Montreal in late March early April. When I have the dates solid I'll post them. It will be nice to meet some of the regulars who hang up there if they happen to be in town at the same time. Quote

Since when did the States become civilized One day I'm gonna try to redistribute some poker winnings in Thailand, it is still a bit of a dream at the moment but hopefully sooner than later I'll be there :9 Quote
