Members Casteran Posted January 25, 2006 Members Posted January 25, 2006 Has anyone seen it? Opened last week in San Francisco, unable to find some meaty reviews. Opens in NYC in April. Quote
Guest ScottAdler Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 According to my boss who will remain nameless -- lets just say he's qualified to critique ... We saw it this weekend and he had this to say. It was horrid. The book was awful and the lyrics were sub par. The only redeeming song was sung by the little girl (if you know the story you'll get it). He said the actors were phenomenal ad truly spectacular singers. Not a standing seat in the house at ovation and that actors themselves told him backstage that they dont expect to be employed much longer Personally I tend to be backed into a corner with his opinions but I would tend to agree. As a gay youth it doesn't take much in a musical to excite me ... I was kinda bored. HOPEFULLY they do SOMETHING with it before they bring it to New York ... but it's gonna take a LOT of work. Warner Brothers made a mistake waiting all this time to finance a show and then choose this one. Quote
Members Casteran Posted January 25, 2006 Author Members Posted January 25, 2006 Thanks Scott. I did find some reviews from SF Chronicle, etc and they stated the same thing - horrid, except the song by the little girl. Seems feedback is consistent - guess I will pass for now, perhaps they will re-vamp (no pun intended) before it hits BWay Quote
