Members TampaYankee Posted January 17, 2006 Members Posted January 17, 2006 We have decided to forego a politics forum for a few reasons. First other 'politics sites' seem to provide a much richer environment for political discussion. Second, political forums on other escort sites seem to have a record of low participation. Third, politics and religion seem to foster short tempers, rancor, and personal attacks incongruous with the Site Mission and the lighter atmosphere associated with that mission. After all, we are about fun and pleasure. We recognize that current events can affect us in our daily lives and knowledge of those current events are of interest to members. Thus we allow that imformation about current events is properly posted in The Pub for all to see. With a little self discipline, current events and political discussion can be separated much like the front page and op-ed page of a newspaper. So, please post the news here and explore opinion differences on sites that are better attended for political discussion. Quote
TotallyOz Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 My favorite forum for politics is: http://www.democraticunderground.com/ Oz ---Life is here, life is now. Life is soooo short... and sex is just too delicious! Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne and Strawberries in one hand, Diet Coke and Godiva Chocolate in the other, a personal bottle of Eros, A BOX OF TROJAN MAGNUMS, and a good Cuban cigar in the your pockets (ALL partially used), a wallet ALMOST empty of currency but noticeably used from the rainbow colors of THE SEVERAL bills THAT REMAIN from a multitude of countries and cards charged to the max from the joys of life, body thoroughly used up, OLD AS TIME ITSELF, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!--- Quote
Members Lucky Posted January 5, 2012 Members Posted January 5, 2012 So we give bewareofnick his Politics forum, and he disappears on us. Maybe Nick finally caught up to him! Quote
Members OneFinger Posted January 5, 2012 Members Posted January 5, 2012 So we give bewareofnick his Politics forum, and he disappears on us. Maybe Nick finally caught up to him! OK, I'll ask the stupid question. WHY IN THE HELL RESURRECT A POST FROM 6 YEARS AGO???????? I'm sure you have your reasons. But, they are far from obvious unless you're trying to increase your posting count for the prize. Does this really add to the value of this site?? Do you think this kind of trickery is going to encourage further participation? IT ONLY PISSES PEOPLE OFF!!!! Quote
Members Lucky Posted January 5, 2012 Members Posted January 5, 2012 One Finger, I am sorry if Santa did not bring you what you wanted for Christmas. I don't know anywhere in the rules that says that certain posts are off limits. If I had started a thread wondering what happened to BewareofNick, would you have reacted so violently? It's much the same, in my opinion. Finally, as they say, if you don't like a thread, don't read it. did I force it on you? Same thing goes for the post on Barry. Is he here? Is he a moderator? If so, why do we never hear from him? See, MsGuy, I combined your protest with One Finger's in one post. My post count be damned! Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 For me it was just confusing because my first thought was "I'm pretty fucking sure there is a politics forum." So then I had to look. Then I had to come back to this thread to make sure I wasn't insane. Quote
Members Lucky Posted January 5, 2012 Members Posted January 5, 2012 If this is all it takes to make you sure you are not insane, well, think again! I am still wondering what brought out such bitterness from One Finger. I thought it was really mean. Quote
Guest FourAces Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 OK, I'll ask the stupid question. WHY IN THE HELL RESURRECT A POST FROM 6 YEARS AGO???????? Lucky loves to dig up old threads. He did so at the other place and now has gone wild here. I'm not a big fan of it but everybody has the right to contribute as they wish. And it would be interesting to have BoN return. Quote
Members Lucky Posted January 5, 2012 Members Posted January 5, 2012 Gone wild? What, with some 3 old posts? Each having some current relevance. I think One Finger went wild with his nasty attack on me. I miss Beware of Nick. If he posted here, we might have some more interesting conversations in the Politics forum. And ncm 2169 would also have been a big contributor. And who knows,if we had met that Bastian guy we might all be getting laid regularly. Anyway, the rules say nothing about old posts. I sure thought they were fair game, and I tried to find interesting ones, too. Quote
Members OneFinger Posted January 6, 2012 Members Posted January 6, 2012 Gone wild? What, with some 3 old posts? Each having some current relevance. I think One Finger went wild with his nasty attack on me... I've mentioned numerous times that I have limited free time to participate on sites like this. Then, when I see something from BewareofNick that I think might be interesting, I read it only to find it is 6 YEARS OLD!!!! It's stupid tricks like that that make me want to give up coming to this site. If it ain't recent, then I don't have time to deal with it. And I certainly don't appreciate you clogging the current messages with crap like this that I have to sort through. If you find that offensive then put me on your ignore list. I'm about to do that with you. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I'm with one finger on this one. Digging up ancient threads just to get your post number count up is complete and total bullshit. Winners never cheat. Cheaters never win. Quote
Members MsGuy Posted January 6, 2012 Members Posted January 6, 2012 Winners never cheat. Cheaters never win. What about cycling? Quote
Members lookin Posted January 6, 2012 Members Posted January 6, 2012 Three old posts, three old posts, When are they from, when are they from? They nearly engendered a furious fight, And sparked a debate over wrong versus right. Did you ever see such a thing on the site, As three old posts? Quote
Members MsGuy Posted January 6, 2012 Members Posted January 6, 2012 Lookin, as usual you put our foibles in fine perspective. Your wit is much appreciated. You are our very own Samuel Johnson. Quote
Members lookin Posted January 6, 2012 Members Posted January 6, 2012 Much obliged, MsGuy, though I'm happier being just one of the Pepys. Quote
Guest hitoallusa Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Wow what a witty response! Thanks! Quote
