Name Change

We were finally able to successfully test our merge of the two forums. It took a long time as the merge converter from Invision had some flaws and still does. But, we worked through it. Based on this, we found that the merge will merge email accounts and often ignore Usernames. This can be easily changed after the merge. For me, I have been using the name TotallyOz on the other site since 2006. My current screen name (Michael) will change over to that name when the merge happens.

The major change for the other site is that XXX images are not allowed. All those images are being removed or move to participating members only areas. This will take time but it is a work in progress.

The forums and all posts converted over easily. There will be a bit of a newer structure and if you notice on the board today, a few separate forums areas now exist. We found it easier to complete the merge if these were broken down. Other than that, we are working to ensure this happens smoothly and efficiently.

Thank you for your patience as this was announced a while back and no movement since.

Out of curiosity, what is the meaning of hooboy? From what I can read in various on line dictionaries, it relates to negative emotions or dismay!!

Also, most of the BoyToy forums don't seem to appear here.  For example, the European forum. That's on the mobile version of the site, accessed via Android.  Are the other forums due to be copied accross later ?

Hooboy is the name of a friend of mine who started male escort reviews online. He died many years ago in Thailand at the Four Seasons. I traveled with him to several continents. After he died, I started boytoy and named the forum for him.

One question I have is what will be the requirements for the members only area? Will it be based on approval after X number of posts or is there some other criteria?

By a quick count, I've seen about 29 gay bars in Pattaya and Bangkok in the last month.   That's all gay bars, including bars with a single customer sat outside.

On the Gogo scene, the choice is limited. Pattaya has Winner Boys and Nice Boys open, although, with a reduced number of boys at Winner Boys.   Cupidol was making some pointless effort with a handful of fully dressed lads and X-Boys had some old men in jeans, with loud music, catering to a local market.    So I'll call that 2 Gogo bars.

Bangkok has Fresh Boys and Hot Male open.  Fresh Boys has about 8 boys, much less than December.  I passed on Hot Male, due to overly pushy touts and promises of a show "now". Might come back before the show.  Screw Boys was open in December, but is currently closed.  There's something going on at "New Nature Boys Golden Cock" (the bar with 2 signs outside).  However, the music was too loud.   So, giving Hot Male the benefit of the doubt, 2 Gogo bars in Bangkok.

I wonder if Tawan is closed or you simply just disregard it existence  as guys there are not  ones you would your think about ?  ( honest question , not trying to be sarcastic )

My understanding is that they will all open back up tomorrow. I know at least Jupiter has confirmed it will reopen (if it has the boys).

Tawan appeared to be closed, but the outside lights were on.

Other bars I didn't mention that were definitely dark and closed were Super A, Dream Boys, Lucky Boys & Jupiter.   Banana were serving customers out on the terrace.

I believe Michael is correct in saying the official opening in Bangkok is on Monday.  That hasn't stopped places like Balcony or Telephone operating.  Plus the Gogo bars I mentioned.

As time goes by, the Bangkok Gogo bars get a smaller percentage of my business.  To get a boy off the premises costs well over 1000.  Then he's typically leaving the hotel room within under 40 minutes and is likely to squeal if he gets anything less than 2000.

Meanwhile, most of the lads on the apps in Bangkok will take 1500, sometimes less and in return are prepared to spend more time with the customer, so the experience feels less rushed.   So at 1500, the total outlay on the apps is less than half, with better results in return.

One advantage of Gogo bars is what you see is what you get.  However, I've got better at spotting the use of Photoshop or old photos on phone apps and now manage to avoid unpleasant surprises.    Then, when I go into Fresh Boys and no one in their small selection is attractive as the boys I've met on the apps, well Fresh Boys don't stand a chance.  To be fair, they did have a bigger and more attractive selection back in December.

Is anyone else considering a Bangkok Gogo boy asking for 2000 for about 30 minutes of his time to be poor value ?   I wouldn't mind 2000 if they were doing better than the lads on the apps, but the lads on the apps are better.  I've always considered asking for 2000 to be a negotiating ploy, particularly when any gogo boys who lure me to their bar with Grindr are very keen to take 1500.   However, I also don't want to be paying below expectations.

Meanwhile, down the road in Pattaya, Winner Gogo boys are perfectly happy with something around 1200-1300 short time or 2000 long time.   For all I know, they might take less, but I've not tried.

That includes "fun" like going to Fresh Boys, then having the mamasan watch my eyes constantly to try and figure out which boy I'm watching.  I then start random eye movements to discourage that.

My idea of fun in a Gogo bar would be the kind of fun and games often seen in Vasa, when it was open.  For instance, trying to steal another lad's towel on the towel nights.

In a Gogo bar like Fresh Boys, they are static and the main advantage is the ease of of selecting a fit and attractive boy, assuming they have some in that category. Admittedly the thin white underwear is rather easy on the eye. 

However, the boys off the apps have more time for the customer than the typical Gogo boy.   So that can be a rewarding eexperience.

As better results are usually obtained with lads from the apps, I'm more frequently visiting gogo bars for a look, then leaving alone.  Five years ago, I would be visiting more to look for offs.   

Obviously if others do the same, we get fewer gogo bars. Arguably as a direct result of the gogo bar offer becoming less competitive ?

What do board members consider to be a fair deal ? Am I doing something wrong ?   I can take high prices and good service, but not high prices and minimal service.  Laying out almost 3500 baht for a Bangkok bar boy who might be in your room for 30 minutes ? 

Down in Pattaya, paying lads on the apps just over a third of that leads to smiles, zero requests for a higher tip, great service and requests for repeat business in every single case.
