Were any of the Vietnam waiters around?

Can't imagine Freshboys without them.

I did not notice them but I didn't stay as it was so bare. They did have more mamasans than boys. :)

Why not take him off and find out . . . ?  If nothing else, at least you would be rubbing more salt into vinapu's wounds.

I would have but I had another lad with me from Freshboys and I didn't want him thinking I had eyes for anyone but him. Plus, the two drinks cost nearly 1,000 baht. I think I have seen the guy on Grindr.

Some updates & observations:

- Was at Fresh Boys Sunday night. Had a few customers, and many boys (easily 20 or so). No Viet waiters. Mamasans very appreciative of the customers.

- Surawong continues to be in a depressing state. Some, but not all, massage shops open with staff waiting for customers outside as usual, but close to zero foot traffic at any time of the day or night.

- Increasing numbers of shops in Surawong and throughout the city are visibly out of business for good, evidenced by boarded up store fronts or bis "FOR RENT" signs. Red Planet Hotel looks like that too, the restaurant on the ground floor is completely gone (just an empty space now).

- One bright spot on the bankruptcy front: Hooters on Silom / corner of Thaniya is also closed for good, Hooters-signs removed and windows taped up with newspapers. Good riddance, though sad for the staff of course.

Wow, that is really gloomy update indeed. I guess silom has always been very niche area catering to specific businesses that are highly dependable on foreigb tourist. The local thai have other choices outside silom that they prefer to go (fake club for example).

gloomy picture from Suriwong repeats world over in all places depending on foreign tourists but also on drawing crowds ( stadiums, fairs , parades )

but what we can expect if even funeral home owner I happen to know is barely making ends , yes people are dying but elaborate funerals and wakes seem to be in sharp decline

At one point we had restrictions on the number of people allowed to attend funerals.    In such circumstances, there's little point in having a fancy funeral.

Also, even prior to Covid, one UK listed funeral provider was struggling.    For years they did well, as people don't like to shop around or haggle for funerals.  Price comparison sites changed all that.

Looking for positives, closures etc will lead to more pressure on the government to change policy.   There are new reports of protests in the Guardian, which might be of interest.   I'm not posting a link, as that would probably not comply with board rules.

I don't think that's an issue, links to news sites are frequently posted
