The trial would no longer be blind if they do antibody tests and share results. However, it's a good way to go if you want a holiday in Brazil. Also AFAIK, there is no evidence that vaccines eliminate transmission of covid. In the absence of such evidence, why would Thailand relax entry rules ? Trial is not blind anymore ( %91.5 protection rate in our trial ) I agree no evidence yet that vaccines can eliminate transmission of covid as it is early for such a data . Even if the transmission is possible there will probably be less transmission by a vaccinated person than an unvaccinated person who carries the virus . But what we know for sure vaccines will protect you for a certain period from getting sick if your body develops enough antibodies vinapu and reader 2 Quote
spoon Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Thailand to warmly welcome inoculated travellers Foreigners who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 will be welcomed with open arms by Thailand through a new campaign set to launch in 3Q2021. Titled Welcome Back to Thailand Again, the campaign is the country’s bid to reclaim lost international arrivals throughout the pandemic. According to Chamnan Srisawat, president of Tourism Council of Thailand, Thai travel operators have started talks with agencies in potential markets, such as China, to restart destination marketing and prepare for future trips. More than one billion people across the world are expected to be vaccinated by the end of June 2021, which could bring about a return in travel demand. If the campaign proves successful, it could save up to 400,000 hotel jobs and 400,000 in related businesses across Thailand. In 2020, 6.9 million foreigners travelled to Thailand, down from 40 million in 2019. It is predicted that Thailand will only see 10 million footfalls this year. Source vinapu 1 Quote
anddy Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 another idea or hope being floated, but to the best of my knowledge this hasn't even been considered, let alone approved, by the cabinet. So it's basically just hot air (again, as so many "plans" they had). WIthout evidence of vaccinations preventing or limiting transmission I don't see this coming anytime soon, unfortunately. I'd be one of the first to benefit from it, but I don't bank on it at all. vinapu 1 Quote
spoon Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 On the other hand, New Zealand says they wont open border until majority of their citizen is vaccinated, which i believed the more realistic way to view it. Quote
Guest Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Agreed: 1 Lots of daft ideas being floated by TAT, with little connection to policy. It's travel restrictions at both ends currently limiting visitors. 2 Curecently, I see no data showing vaccines 100% prevent people from transmitting covid to others. So allowing in vaccinated tourists is presenting a small covid risk. So countries will want to vaccinate their own populations before allowing travel without quarantine. Quote

Guest Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 It's about time the UK joined the 21st century and started giving consumers more choice with healthcare, as we see working rather well in Germany or Singapore. The NHS is OK for people who get good care. However, if your local GP surgery or hospital is one of the rotten ones, the socialist structure means you're stuck with crap care, rather having the option of taking your business elsewhere. Quote

Of course not, but the question is not relevant to my comments. I recommend we look into the German or Singapore models and I'd be quite happy with their costs and results. There are many countries with healthcare systems. Selecting the one developed country that has a worse system than the UK is not a credible defence for the communist healthcare model. This probably ought to be split off to a separate topic. Quote
