A liittle explanation:

in IT there are pockets of a lot of Chinese (doing small shops.bisnis etc-so this explains the infection source) and It is among the countries in Eu with highest % of elderly people.

The main source of infection in SoKo was a religious group, which had not many elder people, but younger, and in their gatherings they had very close contact. Due to some reason SoKo has many, many a bit weird religious groups of all kind of directions.

I wondered about why Iran was such a source, but then read they also mainly deal with China since the US-boycott, understandable. Plus they were likely completely unprepared and did not have the proper tests etc to start with.

From what I know from other sources, many of the infected people in Germany+Netherlands are also of Chinese descent.

Alltogether this kind of confirms the picture that its mostly the elder and already sick/weak health who have a far higher chance of ´this being the final drip in the bucket´ to pass away.

 As for BKK;

when entering a Centran dept.store last week, instead of the gate with the luggagecheck there was now a pretty lady doing electr. temp.check, I was declared OK

In the BMTA citybus they now have a brandnew clip on those screens that show how thoroughly their buses are cleaned with disinfectant

OTOH in no msg shop or gay place whatsoever I´ve been into, there were any masks. Lets keep it this way.

The last issue of ThaiPeuan free mag did show a guy with masks and SM-type of clothing, I guess sponsored by Tawan, but that simply looked completely ridiculous.

Bangkok, 09 March, 2020 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to inform tourists, international and local, of the measures issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) on “Practical Guidelines for the Air Operators Relating to the Services to be Provided in the Territories outside Thailand Defined as Disease Infected Zones of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak.”

On 5 March, 2020, the Royal Thai Government Gazette announced the territories outside the Kingdom of Thailand: South Korea, Italy, Iran and China (including Hong Kong and Macau) as Disease Infected Zones for COVID-19. This announcement can be changed depending on the current situation.

The CAAT has issued the following guidelines for all air operators in order to provide practical guidance for the air operators performing flights between those Disease Infected Zones and to support the surveillance measures taken by the Ministry of Public Health.

1. Where the Ministry of Public Health defines any territory outside Thailand as a Disease Infected Zone of the COVID-19, passengers from such Disease Infected Zone shall be subject to quarantine and any other measures for the prevention and control of communicable diseases as imposed by the Government of Thailand.

2. Air operators providing services from the airport of embarkation in the Disease Infected Zones are required to perform the screening of the passengers at the time of check in. The passengers need to present a Health Certificate certifying that they have no risk of COVID-19. If any passenger is unable to present such certificate, boarding shall be denied and the boarding pass shall not be issued.

3. Air operators may apply the measure as specified in Item 2 for the screening of passengers from the airport of departure in the countries affected by COVID-19 from the report of the Ministry of Public Health or World Health Organisation.

4. After being satisfied with the Health Certificate and the boarding passes are issued to the passengers, the air operators shall furnish the passengers with Form T8 issued under Thailand’s Communicable Diseases Act 2015 and require the passengers to fill out the forms and submit them to the Communicable Disease Control officials at the control post at the airport of disembarkation.

5. The Communicable Disease Control officials at the control post at the airport of disembarkation have the power to issue an order under Thailand’s Communicable Diseases Act 2015 as follows:

(1) Prevent anyone from entering into or leaving from the aircraft coming into Thailand without undergoing a medical examination. 

(2) Prevent any vehicle from approaching the aircraft.

(3) Take or make an order to the air operators to take the following action:

(a) Disinfect the disease in order to prevent and control the spread of the disease.

(b) Detain the aircraft at a specified place until the Communicable Disease Control officials at the control post permit to depart.

(c) Require the persons on board the aircraft to undergo a medical examination and may also isolate, quarantine, confine them for observation, or order to receive immunisation at a place and period to be specified.

 

6. Air operators shall be responsible for the expenses incurred relating to the isolation, quarantine, confinement for observation, and immunisation of the persons on board, including the expenses for the care, hospitalisation and prevention and control of international communicable diseases.

7. Air operators will strictly comply with the measures for the surveillance, prevention and control of dangerous communicable diseases issued by the Ministry of Public Health under Thailand’s Communicable Diseases Act 2015.

8. Air operators shall notify their staff at the airport of embarkation and the crew members of the above guidelines and have them comply with full cooperation. The cabin crew shall also make an on board public announcement to the passengers.

BANGKOK: Travellers from China, including Macau and Hong Kong, Iran, Italy and South Korea are now required to present a medical certificate proving they are not infected with COVID-19 before boarding their flight to Thailand, according to the Thai Civil Aviation Authority (CAAT).

“If any passenger is unable to present such certificate, boarding shall be denied and the boarding pass shall not be issued,” CAAT said in its announcement on Sunday (Mar 8).

The Medical Certificate for General Passenger is available on the Department of Disease Control's website. In the form, a certified medical doctor has to declare the passenger free from COVID-19 over the period of 14 days before departure and supply evidence of negative testing for the disease within 48 hours before the flight.

I believe the following countries have more ACTIVE cases per head of population than China.    There may be more countries, but these are just examples.     According to official figures, over 75% of the infected people in China have now recovered or died, hence the active number is falling        

The daily increase in TOTAL case numbers in China is now a fraction of that in some European countries.

Therefore, the list of countries with Thai restrictions already seems to be well out of date.        Mind you, there are also numerous western countries behind the curve with their responses and with horrific growth rates.

Placing countries on a restriction list has both public health and political considerations. We’ve seen this play out where a few countries were initially included in the Thai list only to be abruptly removed the same day. 

Trade, security and diplomatic history need to be weighed. It’s not a perfect, objective world.

Saw this in the latest news that visitors need to download apps to complete the required information. Imagine for those without data package, how are they going to download the apps to complete the information if they are unaware of this new requirements?

The requirement also applies to Thai returnees from high risk countries.

The measure was agreed at a meeting of the Digital Economy and Society Ministry, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, the Immigration Bureau, the Department of Disease Control, Airports of Thailand and five telecom operators.

Once the app is downloaded, they will have to fill in the required information - name, surname, passport ID , mobile phone number, e-mail address and present them to the immigration officials on duty . The information will be stored for 14 days after arrival.

In the case of a virus-infected person, the information given will enable related state agencies to follow protocols. The state agencies will also be able to trace and inform passengers on the same flight as the infected individual.

Digital Economy Minister Puttipong Punnakanta said the measure was meant to reassure both Thais and foreign travellers of Thailand's readiness in tackling the Covid-19 outbreak.

The coronavirus pandemic that has infected more than 125,000 people around the world is concentrated in a “corridor” across the northern hemisphere, researchers said, as more studies focused on how temperature and humidity could be used to predict the spread of the contagion.

Despite worries that Southeast Asia may become a coronavirus hotspot after central China (where the Covid-19 outbreak started) because of their proximity and travel connections to the infection’s epicentre, more countries and regions like South Korea, Japan, Iran, northern Italy and the northwestern United States may have to bear the heaviest burden.

“The establishment of community transmission has occurred in a consistent east-and-west pattern. The new [regional] epicentres of the virus were all roughly along the 30-50 degree [lines of latitude] north zone,” according to a team of US and Iranian researchers.

Their work, made public this week on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) and pending review by peer experts, said that common temperature and humidity factors in these locations may allow epidemiologists to anticipate where virus cases may become focused.

The US-Iranian researchers, led by Mohammad Sajadi of University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, said there was a “striking similarity” between conditions in locations inside the current outbreak corridor, with average temperatures in the five-to-11 degree Celsius range and relative humidity of between 47 and 79 per cent

“These locations also exhibit a commonality in that the timing of the outbreak coincides with a nadir in the yearly temperature cycle, ” the study said. “[This is] perhaps pointing to increased risk of outbreaks with prolonged conditions in this [temperature] range.”

Making reference to temperature data from last March and April, the study predicted that new community spread in the coming weeks could emerge in areas just north of the current corridor. This spread could include northeastern and Midwest US, British Columbia, the British Isles and northeastern China.

i arrived Bangkok yesterday and airport was quiet. Didn’t visit bars in end (sorry @paulsf I know I told you I would drop by and drink with you) because I arranged to meet a boy and we went out for dinner and spent night together.

i think if the bars are really closed, we can still meet boys using apps and messages.
