Phuket - Bangkok - Chiang Mai Trip

Finally something to report after three days in Phuket. My trip consists of Phuket (Dec 22-25) > Bangkok (Dec 26 - 31) > Chiang Mai (Jan 1-3) > Bangkok (Jan 4).

Day 1 - Roamed around Patong and got a legit Thai massage at a random shop. Chose one with more elderly masseuses to ensure no hanky panky. Will try the highly recommended Prime when in Bangkok! Walked by the gay district, Paradise Complex, in the early afternoon but it was dead (as expected). Laid on the beach and tanned for a bit before succumbing to jetlag and passing out in he early evening.

Day 2 - Hired a driver for 2000 baht to visit Big Buddha, Chalong Rum Distillery, Old Phuket Town and surrounding temples. Did not realize that the rum distillery tours and workshops are all in the afternoon - got a drink and left. Watched a muay thai match where I was more interested in the hot bod of the Brazilian fighter than the actual fight itself kekeke. Succumbed to jetlag again shortly after.

Day 3 - woke up in the early morning from food poisoning (or perhaps fruit shake poisoning) and had to forgo a James Bond island trip. Slept all day at the hotel to recover, which had the added benefit of fixing the jetlag. Recovered more or less and caught the Simon Cabaret show. The performances were entertaining and had no regrets. Ladyboys aren't my thing so my eyes wandered to two of the cute male dancers whenever they appeared. Was hoping they moonlighted as gogo boys but did not see them.

FINALLY, got back to Paradise Complex for the nightlife at 10:30. Tangmo Club had two gogo boys parading on stage but I didn't go in as the place was dead (may check it out tonight). Most of the other bars were small and not worth noting. Most people were at Zag Club where they had seating and a stage set up outside. Three boys were on stage shirtless with black wings attached to their backs and black jeans. All three were fit with delicious abs. It seemed a bit odd as they just stood there the whole time. One had a really cute face with a decent amount of muscle that was so yummy - had no shame in staring at him the whole time. The other two were more twinks.The show finally started at 10:45 with 15 minutes of dancing by 10 shirtless twinks wearing harnesses. The rest of the performances were drag shows, which continued on inside the venue from 11:30 onward. The gogo boys all changed into black shirts and pants and acted more or less as waiters. Most had disappeared - I assume left with customers(?) Only the really cute one that I couldn't keep my eyes off of was with customers most of the night. First with a farang, then with a Chinese guy. The club was 60% full with mostly farang and some straight couples. Wasn't looking for any fun anyway as I was still recovering.

Will check out the scene again tonight - Determined to buy myself a present!

Thanks for your report, I had the same experience 2 years ago Paradise complex is a ghost town , the beaches are mediocre and everything is very expensive .will not return again.

Whelp, got coal for Christmas. Guess I deserved it as I HAVE been a bit naughty this year. Though, judging from the reports, not as naughty as some of you.

Day 4 - took an excursion out to Coral and Raya Islands where one can snorkel or just lie on the beach. The sand was super soft and clean while the water was crystal clear. At Raya, one can snorkel but the water is filled with rocks. Made wading around in the water like an idiot impossible for me, who can't swim. So Coral was much better in that aspect. Agree with @Boy69, there are better beaches. But any beach is better than the dirty grainy polluted ones in Toronto. 

While taking a nap, I sensed two muscular hunks in the vicinity and immediately sprung up. Scanning the surroundings, spotted what appeared to be a gay Caucasian couple with underwear model physique and light body hair. Vying for a closer look, I grabbed my camera to zoom in. Alas, they were walking away from the water in a direction that made following them with a camera a bit too conspicuous.

Back at the hotel, I awaited my Christmas present, a massage I booked off of Jackd. Based on the pictures, I was under the impression that the masseur was a Viet twink. Boy I was wrong... The pictures were real but definitely deceiving. Still got the massage, which turned out decent, and paid the agreed fee but declined any services under the notion of being tired.

Showered and grabbed a bite at a night market before going back to Paradise Complex at 10 pm for another look. Got a drink at Tangmo to check out the selection as I said I would. Five gogo boys stood on stage in leather underwear, all had twink bods but were on the older side. Left after downing my drink as I felt awkward being one of three customers in the bar, staring prolongly at the boys but not wanting to off any of them.

The bar next to Tangmo (can't remember the name) had two dancers around a pole but was deserted. I ran away.

With nothing to do, ended back at Zag to watch another show. Pretty much the same acts as the prior night but with different costumes. Their sexy boy show of dancing to YMCA was fully clad and so unenthusiastic that I just played with my phone.

All in all, was glad that I went to Phuket as I've never been... but would not go back.

Stayed at Baan Boa during this segment, which is located on the southern edge of Patong beach. Great location for peace and quiet along the beach while only being a 20 min walk to the "party" scene. Only gripe is the impossible to control water temperature.

On my way to Bangkok now!

I would have met you but I was having an awesome boyfriend experience the afternoon - shopping at Centralworld, dinner at Mango Tree and foot massage at Prime. We passed by Lucky Boys at 10pm to pick up a boy and a waiter and also took another waiter from Freshboys then had a drinking party in hotel room with beer and whisky until midnight. 5 of us made such a ruckus during drinking games that I was surprised that none of the other hotel guests complained.

You didn't check out Boat Bar at the end of the Paradise complex? (to the far right when facing the big hotel at end of the street). It usually gets going quite late (and will stay open 1-2 hours longer than the other bars/clubs in the soi).

Passed by but it was dead both times.

Very sad Boat Bar is dead at the high season ... It used to be one of the best dance club in Thailand and certainly the best in Phuket with lots of great shows and music , many customers including young and attractive foreigners and many Thai boys arriving after midnight seeking for partner.another legendary venue faded away.

I'm intrigued by the longevity of the Paradise Complex. It's not like Pattaya's Boyztown which has seen a massive decline in numbers of visitors over the past decades; in fact,  my first visit was in 1997 and it was deserted then. I was new to Thailand and was disappointed to compare it with the liveliness of Pattaya. I've visited Phuket on about seven or eight occasions since then and it has remained exactly the same. How does it survive?

By the way, the tourist clientele of Patong seemed  younger than that of Pattaya- and  less Asian- on my last visit in 2017.  And there seemed to be more couples. I wonder if the straight scene is thriving.

Phuket faced huge tourist numbers decline and it's no longer major tourist destination as it used to be so not only the gay scene faded away the straight scene is in decline as well . My last visit in 2017 Paradise complex was a ghost town and most of the straight go go bars had been closed.

It seemed that the scene was mostly older farang couples. There were some straight families/couples watching the show at Zag or just passing by for a look. Most people just sat at tables set up along the street and watched the performance, then migrated inside to stand around and chat while watching the drag show. Nothing like DJ station happening.

The six days in BKK all kind of blended together in my memory. Guess that is to be expected when you spend 25+ hours of it clubbing with the same group of people.

Hotel: Le Meridien. This is now my favourite Marriott hotel with the superior location coupled with modern rooms. Similar to other hotels in its class, it had speakers in the bathroom to hear the tv, separate bath tub and shower, etc. The bathroom wall is a sliding panel that you can open to watch tv while taking a bath (or to ogle your boy while he does a bath/shower scene for you). Upon check in, the receptionist convinced me to take the free breakfast with sparkling wine as the welcome gift for Platinum members. She even added that it is for 2 people so that if I have a friend come stay later, I can bring them. At first I just chuckled inside, thinking "what friend? I'm staying here alone". A few hours later, it finally dawned on me what she meant...The only gripe is that the hotel is a death trap. Crossing the road to Silom is like playing Leap Frog. 

The Bars: A thank you to everyone for all the info on the bars to allow for prioritization. Checked out Jupiter and yes, there were manly muscle guys. However, not a big fan of tattoos. Plus, one mamasan kept pestering me to select a boy. Moonlight had some boys that were more my type - #65 and #27. Alas, wanted to catch the show and see the famous Babe, and the ones I liked were offed by the show's end. The most enjoyable part of Moonlight's stools is that one has to work their core to sit straight. Ended the night by watching a show at LuckyBoys as mentioned in the LuckyBoys thread. Need to go back to Moonlight on my return and try to get #65! @DivineMadman you're taking me to the other bars when I'm back right?? kekekeke

The naughtier stuff: 1) Determined to get myself a proper X-Mas gift after the mishap in Phuket, I promptly opened Grindr and Jack'D after checking in at the hotel. Found a Vietnamese muscle hunk that @spoon would approve of and promptly scheduled an appointment. Yes, he looked like his pictures (YAY!) and the service satisfied my needs. X-Mas came late, but nevertheless came. He did rush me out afterwards - so if one cares about spending the full hour together, he is not the one for you. 2) Next (different day), met with a tall Thai boy with a swimmer build. Perfect height as he was only 1 inch shorter than me, and had the body type that I strive for. He claimed to be shy though and despite claiming to do "everything", did not want to bottom. Oh well, still got to feel him up for an hour. 3) Had another mishap where I agreed to hook up with a guy on Grindr and he turned out to be different from his pictures...

Sauna: Checked out Chakran on a Friday between 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm. Silly me for going during office hours on a holiday week. There were 5 other guys there, all Asians who were on the older side. Determined to not waste my entry fee, relaxed in the sauna and onsen for an hour. Plus, got a lot of cardio in by walking up and down the floors, searching in vain for other people. Side note, that place is a death trap with the amount of steps in dimly lit space. Tread with caution! The facilities were clean (had to be with the # of patrons) and the pictures on their site (of the facilities) were accurate.

Massage: Popped over to VCK after the sauna without knowing that they were raided earlier that day. Only 3 masseurs were available, all of the muscle hunk type. Decided to try my hand at Ganymede Spa. All the boys were on the shorter side with muscles on a twink body (if that makes sense). After Chakran and VCK, I wasn't going to leave empty handed again and selected a top. Rooms on multiple floors with communal showers. The massage was on an actual massage table. Received a mediocre massage for 5 minutes before proceeding straight to the extra stuff. Since we pretty much skipped the massage, we finished before the time was up so he tried to give me a massage with the remaining time. Thought he was pretty sweet for all the effort so gave extra tip. He mentioned that business has been slow, with only 1 or 2 customers a day, if even.

Touristy stuff:  Blitzed through BKK's tourist scene in half a day with @spoon as my tour guide :-). Grand Palace, Wat Pho, IconSiam, the river ferry rides, etc. I was more interested in Spoon's stories than the sights. More or less done with BKK's tourist spots unless someone has other recommends.

White Party: Spent more time doing this than anything else (including sleep). Basically it is room full of muscle jock young Asians - nonstop eye candy for me! @anddy hope you enjoyed it too!

I wonder what's going on there, first somebody reported guys are smiling , now mamasan pestering. It used to be other way around, sober looking guys but I was alone by mamasans

Massages:

Classic House 600 baht for 1 hour oil massage and 1000 baht minimum tip. Had muscle hunks where some were probably a bit older but still very good looking. Was there at 10 pm and they only had one bottom. My masseur, a straight top with a big chest and flat stomach, mentioned that he has been doing it for 20 years, not sure if it was lost in translation. The facilities felt well maintained and clean compared to Common Spa. Communal showers with a mattress on the floor in the room. The one hour included shower time. With my limited massage experience, the definite plus was that he gave an actual good massage. Plus, at one point he oiled up and rubbed his entire body on me hehehe. The extra was wonderful as well - all in all was very happy and gave extra tip.

Common Spa the website mentioned 700 baht for 1 hour oil massage. Howeve, when I arrived, the mamasan gave me an all inclusive price list for which 1 hour was listed at 1700 baht. It has multiple floors with a communal shower on each. The facilities were a little rundown with the towel rack almost falling off. The boys there were younger, boy next door and jock types. The room sported a massage table and was dimly lit. The boy I chose had a swimmer build and was a top. Upon arrival, he set a timer at 45 minutes and then left for five minutes to shower. When the massage finally started, he lightly pressed my legs for a few minutes before proceeding to lie on top of me. Was confused as to what he was doing until he signaled that I can touch. Safe to say, the massage was nonexistent and we proceeded to other activities. This consisted of him lying down like a dead fish to be touched. I ended up topping, which is fine, as he could not get it up and looked away most of the time. Would not recommend going here. The all inclusive pricing gives them little incentive to try. Would have tipped him extra if the service was better but it was the worst of the three experiences.

Bars Adam Apple was closed both nights I stopped by. Circle Pub had five patrons and a diva show. Not worth going unless you were bored and in the area.

Other naughty bit never have any luck on hook up apps. The picture of my hook up was a cute younger bottom who was on the slimmer side. He showed up at my hotel and realized that the pictures were old and beauty mode was on. I was horny so we did the deed anyway. Future reference, ask for a shirtless selfie on the spot.

Hotel ISTY Hotel is a hipster hotel in he northwest side of the city by Common Spa and the gogo bars. It is a ten minute walk to the old city and thirty minutes to Classic House, which is on the east side of the city. Chiang Mai is small enough that you can really stay anywhere and just walk. 

Tourist stuff the city itself is food heaven and full of temples. Would suggest three days there, elephant sanctuary for one, roam the city for the next, and visit a tribal village on the last. 

The highlight was definitely Classic House. Would have gone back if I had more time!

while your experience was dispiriting I always advocate against writing off both,  places and guys  after only one trial.

Comes from personal experience, my worst ever and one of best boys ever came from the same bar(Dreamboys) on the same trip only few days apart.

Guy who humiliated me most,  dumping mid-bar for another one after off fee was paid and one who provided me 2 years later  with probably best night-with-boyfriend experience in all my 20 trips was exactly the same  Tawan boy.

I'm pretty sure other experienced similar roller-coasters

Yup to my surprise I did enjoy the two WP party nights I happened to be dragged to by a friend. The opening night on Friday and the actual White Party on the 30th. It wasn't like I remembered from about 3 years ago, when there seemed to be way too many swaying Chinese "bear trains", making normal dancing impossible. Also, the music seemed better this time around. And you are right about the eye candy guys, those guys...! Sooooo many sooooo attractive and sexy guys!
