reader Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Somehow his rationale for canceling doesn’t ring true. This has been a very well attended event in recent years. From Coconuts Bangkok Today marks the end of an era with tragic news for those thirsty for seasonal, open-air beer drinking: There will be no more lan beer, or beer garden, at CentralWorld. The popular al fresco event, which usually takes place at the end of the year in the mall’s outdoor plaza by Ratchaprasong intersection will come to an end after decades it first took place. A great hangout to sip beer, enjoy live music and cool weather, the event is reliably packed with patrons. The reason given for canceling it was “changing consumer lifestyles,” according to Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, executive vice president of marketing for mall owner Central Pattana. “Most people don’t drink at the beer garden anymore. The world has been changing fast,” Nattakit said. “We cannot do the same thing anymore, but we need to adapt ourselves to the new way consumers live so they choose to come to our event.” https://coconuts.co/bangkok/lifestyle/bye-bye-beer-garden-centralworld-cancels-popular-sud-soaked-tradition/ Quote
pong Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 You can still do it, drink beer (hopefully for you not to muth) in the open air and even in that Centran (was WTC) bulding-but then up on one of its towers. But Thai beer simply is not good. When they came to TH when the beermarket finally opened TIGER also had parts of it, but I think its also now part of one of worlds beergiants. pong Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 And as I dont come there that often: a fairly big beer ´garden´ in concrete is running at the corner of Satorn and Narathiwat, close by King Power Mahanakorn Seeing glass and the BRT and BTS stops, but its Federbrau, the probably least known among Thai beers. Ground level in front of old WTC is now a giant foodpark, mostly aiming Chinese and asean foodbloggers. Also remarkable how once empty dead sidesois like Satorn 10 with the short time Niagara HTL (was there more as a few times long ago) now blossomed to life and are now full of hypertrendy places-that are thus also destined to die pretty soon once that hype is over. They call that bustling in tipical touristy brochures. vinapu 1 Quote
