AlexThompson Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 I got back from a two-week trip to Thailand and have felt a deep postpartum ever since. I miss the food, the street life, the boys, the sense of adventure, the shows, the massages -- all of it. In an attempt to soothe myself... I have re-read everyone's sexual escapades on the forum. I have watched every Thai porn vid on Pornhub. I've tried to recreate Thai food on my own. I've cruised the boys in Thai Town in Los Angeles. I've gone to the cruisy Korean spas, in an attempt to replicate Babylon. However, I am still missing Thailand dearly. Are there other websites, video sites, places you go, things you do in order to hold onto that special feeling? Boy69 1 Quote
Guest Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 To answer your question, one of my solutions is to waste a ridiculous amount of time on chat forums like this. I also rent out spare rooms in the house to cute Asian students, although obviously the limit of this is chatting and looking. Ultimately, life goes on. Plan your next trip, even if it's 12 months later. Try & figure out how to configure your finances and life so you can spend time wherever you like -generally involving saving a shed load of money, or having some kind of business that can be operated from anywhere in the world (I think there's at least one prominent individual here in the latter category). Nikom Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 z909 has it right! Plan your next trip, even if it's 12 months later. Plan how to make it better next time. New Thai places to visit, new restaurant! AlexThompson 1 Quote
spoon Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 It is one of the main reason i visited this forum many times daily lol. U have done most of the thing i do to cope except for one, bring your thai boy to you lol. I guess for US, itll be not so easy, since its quite far, and visa etc will be complicated. Lucky for me, thai doesnt need visa to go to my country, which happened to be just 2 hour flight away. 18past19 and AlexThompson 2 Quote
AlexThompson Posted August 16, 2019 Author Posted August 16, 2019 You, @spoon, are a very lucky man! Two hours? I can't imagine what my wallet would look like if Bangkok was just two hours away! I would go every week! 18past19 1 Quote
spoon Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Haha, i cant afford to go there everyweek, wallet wise and time wise and energy wise hahaha. But there are also options in my place with much smaller varieties of indo, thai, myanmar, vietnamese, nepalese and filipino boys working as masseur here too to keep me busy lol maybe it is one of the reason that i kept delaying my return to LOS. ggobkk Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 My solution, at least up to now, has been to write a trip report and post it. I learn from the replies and comments. Then I take all of that I start to plan my next trip and to look at the calendar and see when that can happen and maybe a trip after that. I keep in touch with forum members who post comments but dont' detail much of what they see. And sometimes, international crises intervene favorably. Example...I've been planning a late November trip, I was also going to be in Hong Kong for the US Labor Day Holiday. The State Department sent me a warning about that...so, instead of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, I'll change plans in the airport and have a five day visit to Bangkok. I'll check things out for November and savor the extra visit. AlexThompson, 18past19, paulsf and 1 other 4 Quote
vinapu Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Daily I visit this forum and read Gaybutton and Sawatdenetwork as well. Daily check ChristianPFC blog if there are new entries and every so often ShamelessMack's one as well . About twice a year a read again all my trip reports here. Yes , also watch Thai porn from time to time and pretty regularly watch again one of GHtaimove movies as well as Bangkok G Story- a lot of aerial vistas of Bangkok in those . Pass by two Thai restaurants daily and sometimes eat there. Have friend who visits Thailand regularly on business , usually in different times than me so he brings fresh news, unfortunately not from boys front as he is heavy on soi Cowboy and Nana. All that keeps me buzzed up about things Thai. Can't say I spent time planning next trip but think about it plenty and then there's spark and bookings are done. Uneven nature of work duties makes some months out of bounds , on another hand there other where getting time off is no issue even on very short notice , but of course money is. I did not notice any withdrawal syndrome because I know that at one point of year I will go, hell or high water. Long flights are no problem but jet lags are with 2 and 3 rd after arrival the worst. Before trip I don't make any plans to see particular boys because I learned over years that almost always they are not available/ interested any more / don't look attractive as before etc. so better not to be too disappointed faranglaw and AlexThompson 1 1 Quote
Londoner Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 When I'm in Thailand, I send a daily email report to a gay friend who collates and binds them for me in attractive covers. I re-read them before each trip, reliving happy memories and anticipating adventures to come. Photographs are included. The first is dated 2003 and the there are sixty or so. They also chart the development of my relationship with P. whom my friend has met in Pattaya. AlexThompson 1 Quote
Boy69 Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 I can understand the OP once I come back from Thailand it takes weeks for me to recover I miss the boys, food, culture and the adventures there but it really depends how was my trip sometimes it's wonderful with great boys and many adventures and then it's really hard for me get back to my life but sometimes my trip is so so and then it's not so hard . Travellerdave Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 I like to re-live the experiences I had with a gay friend, whenever we meet up. We first travelled together to Thailand 18 years ago and enjoyed 2 weeks of intensive Boys and sex, and followed that with three more trips. When we reminiss it almost seems like that was only yesterday so vivid was the impression it made on us. He is in a steady relationship now and won’t be playing the sex tourist anymore but is always eager to hear about my adventures. In addition I keep an eye on the gay forums including this one and even post occasionally. I always enjoy a wank looking at Asian gay porn including the incomparable PBM. AlexThompson 1 Quote

Thats probably the reaction of all who live far from Thailand and whose trips inevitably are limited to once or twice a year. But having lived in the country for more years than i care to remember, the availabilty of cute and handsome young men does begin to reduce the appetite. Besides, constant bar hopping and constant massages remain expensive and most living here still have to pay for some form of accommodation. Londoner Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 I can see that. When I decided not to relocate back in 2004, it was one of the many considerations that guided my decision. The anticipation and thrill of the journey- departure and arrival, if not the night on the plane- as well as the contrast with my life at home, help to make each of the days I'm there memorable. Wherever we live in the world, we have to pay for accommodation in one way or another. Since Thailand has a range of accommodation to suit every pocket, I would take that as neutral. As for the appetite, well I have noticed that on a short trip of <1 month, it's tempting to see as many guys as possible. Particularly at the start & end of the trip. When my trip length increased to several months, I no longer needed to be chasing them every day. That actually has a couple of benefits. Firstly, when travelling around the quieter parts of the region, perhaps a suitable lad might only pop up every few days, so it's just as well I can do without. Secondly, this helps the budget. After a long trip, coming home is easier to cope with, particularly if I have missed the worst of the winter. Then eventually, the reality of a very limited selection of boys dawns. Incidentally, many years ago, I started focussing on getting to a "financially independent" status as early as possible. I figured a sum of X would be sufficient. Then I visited Thailand & discovered other new expenses, in particular boys, long holidays, air fares and a potential need to cover medical expenses if abroad at an older age. Hence, when I finally kicked my job into touch, the savings amounted to over 2X. I would still suggest anyone who is smitten by Thailand at an early age could consider the opportunities to improve their mobility, such as working abroad (only if the money is good), saving and investing like hell to achieve financial freedom or starting a business that could be run from anywhere. AlexThompson Posted August 27, 2019 Author Posted August 27, 2019 I finally discovered a way to keep the spirit of Thailand alive while home in the states. A few of the guys at boytoy.com referenced GPS spoofing -- apps that allow you to make it look like you're anywhere in the world while using Grindr or other hookup apps. In the last week, I have "traveled" to Bangkok, Phuket, Brazil, Colombia and had an amazing time. (Guys on boytoy say that when traveling to Brazil, their Grindr "lights up like a Christmas tree". No joke. It's true. It's one thing to read about the boys of Brazil, it's another to see them in the flesh and discover for yourself what kind of fun they are up for. Here is an article that explains the process. It's a little trickier with an iPhone -- you need to start with your phone connected to a computer. (There is a 24-hour trial and then you must pay $35 for the desktop program. I did it and it has been well worth it.) https://www.lifewire.com/fake-gps-location-4165524 Quote
