My regular masseur at Dongtan Beach in Pattaya who hails from Isaan,  is a fervent supporter of the Thaksin faction. He reckons that the Democrats have too much power and influence and wealth.

Isaan, and the north generally, including Chiang Mai, is Thaksin's power-base. I've yet to meet a guy on the Pattaya scene whos isn't a Thaksin man. Nor a Bangkok taxi driver.
