rand32 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 It is already discussed"http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/11734-craigslist-removed-personal-ads-from-their-sites/"]CL personal ads closing, this thread on old domain[/URL], I was curious to ask you (those who used) after almost 1 year of closing, what are your alternatives (if you find anything close to CL for finding partners.) I will start, combined I am using : 1) Various hookup sites 2) Pure and Tinder apps and 3) few forums like for example Kik Sexting forum. So I would like to hear what you tried after closing CL personals and what gives you some results? Also, you can share sites/services/forums/whatever that are just wasting a time. alexjohnson90 1 Quote
bucknaway Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 It's still on CL, you just have to put more effort into your search https://bangkok.craigslist.org/crs/d/gay-in-bkk-and-massage-boy/6815895951.html splinter1949 1 Quote

bucknaway Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 It's an evolution. We lost gay.com chat and gained grind, jacked and others. Tech is moving at a fast pace and few are looking back. I miss dreaded neds, thailandout.com, dragoncastle.com and I miss the forum that Babylon use to have on its website but I love today's options that cell phone technology brings. Even now, someone is thinking up the next great way for us to find sex. So raise a glass in celebration of yesteryear's hookup sources. Toast again for today and tomorrows. I can't wait to see what the horny bastards come up with next. DivineMadman and t0oL1 2 Quote
colmx Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Don't forget Fridae.com! If there was was ever a study on how to destroy a niche website, then it would surely be the best candidate for a thesis. From the best site for GAM & GWM hookups to nothing in the space of a year! bucknaway 1 Quote
spoon Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Gboysiam69 is still working i supposed. In Malaysia, locanto is rising fast to replace craigslist, and now have 3 sections dedicated to personal with the most recently added category, escorts. I checked locanto thai, and they didnt have escort category yet, but they do have men seeking men (similar to CL) and men looking for men in casual encounter category. However the usage isnt as widely spread for thai compared to malaysia. bucknaway 1 Quote
ChristianPFC Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 I had a look at craigslist personals when it was running, but nothing caught my interested. I'm happy with gay online dating (blued, hornet, gayromeo), and gay groups on facebook (in Thai language) and the occasional check on gboysiam (in Thai language). Quote
rand32 Posted February 27, 2019 Author Posted February 27, 2019 ChristianPFS, what is best for you from those 3 blued, hornet, gayromeo? alexjohnson90 1 Quote
ChristianPFC Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Gayromeo has lost considerable and is only worth considering in Bangkok and Pattaya (I haven't been to Phuket or Chiang Mai for a while, so I don't know how active it's there). When I go to the provinces, I first open hornet. But that's only because with a free account I can see a limited number of profiles, whereas with blued you can go around the world if you have time. The video advertising on hornet is really annoying. If I had to choose one of the three, it would be blued. A friend reports good results with grindr, some day I will open an account. vinapu 1 Quote
Guest Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Planet Romeo has the best app and by far the best functionality in the free version. Unfortunately, as Christian says it's only really any use in Bangkok (and perhaps Pattaya), but most of the boys are on Grindr & Hornet. Hornet has dreadful & annoying advertising. I timed it and there is an irritating video ad every 2 minutes. This is completely pointless, since what they advertise is of zero interest to me, for example some video game that looks good for 5 year olds & Facebook. The free version has an age filter only. It is the app to use in Isan. Grindr - Advertising not quite as bad as Hornet, but the only filter on the free version is an age filter. Considering Grindr and Hornet are going in the direction of fees and excess advertising, a world where these were the only 2 apps would not be a good place. For that reason, I think it makes sense to at least use Planet Romeo when there are boys. Both Grindr and Hornet have "travel features". However, on the Grindr one, if you select, for example, Phnom Penh, then it lists all the boys on line near Phnom Penh. Loads of cute looking lads. However, don't rush out and book your flights based on this, since lads near Phnom Penh can include those in Saigon. If you try Sattahip, there are loads of boys "near Sattahip". Mostly in Pattaya. Blued. Loads of boys, loads of free features. However, despite that, I get hardly any offs via this. On my recent trip, the apps that generated the offs were (in order) : 1 Grindr 2 Hornet 3 Planet Romeo (although I think the proportion of lads on here who are available to farang is much higher) 4 Blued. I might have met one lad in Cambodia via this, but that's about it. Despite loads of boys. Not quite sure where it goes wrong. I also have JackD installed. I used to use this a few years ago when it worked well. Then it went through a phase of not working properly & by the time they fixed that, much of the customer base had gone. Still has a range of free filters. If I had my way, everyone would migrate to Planet Romeo and JackD. Incidentally, Blued and Hornet are Chinese owned. Whilst there is no evidence of government interference, the Chinese government is not exactly the most gay friendly in the world. Quote
rand32 Posted March 4, 2019 Author Posted March 4, 2019 "z909" thanks for detailed answer and thanks for sharing your experiences, it is useful alexjohnson90 1 Quote
ChristianPFC Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Talking of filters, I don't use any. Some people do not have stats (age, weight, height would be important for me), or obviously wrong stats, and anyway it's entertaining to see who is around, even if not my specs. The video apps on hornet are indeed stupid. They advertise for facebook! I think mankind is split in: those who are already on facebook, those who do not want to be on facebook. vinapu 1 Quote
ggobkk Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Blued appears (to me) to have a Chinese bias...I get many hits on Blued during my twice yearly visits to China (Beijing, Shanghai, etc). Very few, if any hits, when not in China. Quote
alexjohnson90 Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Hey, just read your post about the absence of Craigslist personals for a year now. It's definitely had an impact on the online dating scene, especially for those who relied on it to connect with others. I can imagine it's been a big change for many people. Have you found any good alternatives or new ways to meet people since then? Quote

Members scott456 Posted December 22, 2023 Members Posted December 22, 2023 I am not interested in walking around on busy noisy crowded hot humid polluted air, dirty streets in Thailand anyway. I usually stay at upscale, self-contained, full service hotels with gym, pool, restaurant on site in both Thailand and Brazil, hence no need to go outside for anything. In this regard, Thailand is about half the price of Brazil, and about 1/3 of the price of Europe and U.S. floridarob 1 Quote

CL was my main resource for sex during my college years in the late 2000s. it was CL and Adam4Adam. Even with the advent of apps CL remained the best and easier place to look for or set up any 3+/groups action. Most apps, especially Grindr make it almost impossible to have a multi-people conversation. They even took out their Group Chat capability lately. Luckily, at least in the US, sniffies.com has come to be very useful for that kind of activity. I tried using CL on my first trip to Southeast Asia in 2009. I guess I didn't do my homework to find out which were actually the best options online for that region. The place I got any lucky with it was Singapore. Still remember meeting this cute Malay Singaporean I contacted on CL. Had to take both mrt and bus to get to his place. Quite the endeavor at a time when I didn't have Google Maps on my phone. Sex was good but he kinda freaked out when offering me poppers. I didn't know their legal status in Singapore and just had heard how strict are they about drugs. His answer to the question if poppers are legal in Singapore: Who cares?!\ The only other place in Asia I got a considerable activity through CL was Seoul the year after my trip SEA. Remember there pretty much no posts on CL in Taipei in the same period. Phoenixblue and vinapu 1 1 Quote
