BKK Massage Newbie

Hello guys!

I'm a new member in this forum and for the past 2-3 weeks have been lurking on the various exchanges here and I must say I'm very happy with the level of support the community has for the newbies and their questions.

I have been to LOS back in 2015 but it was purely a touristy trip. I was with a group of friends and we had our days planned from dusk til dawn so I had no chance to try out any of the massage places. So fast forward to now and I will have a 5 day solo trip to Bangkok and I intend to try at least 3 of the places I've seen from the bkkmassages blog written by an esteemed member of this forum, as well as from travelgayasia website.

Of these 3 planned experiences I'd like the first one to be on my first day (A) , to "exorcize" the pre and post flight stress and to get me in vacation mode. The other one would be on the day before I leave (B) to relax me from all the walking, exploring, and various activities. The one in the middle of my trip © would not be too focused on the quality of the massage but on the man doing it as well as the various fun activities we could do.

After my "research" I've decided on the following, except for one:

(A) Dr. Bear (R3) - for their ObOon Massage plus the fantastic TGA reviews. I was wondering the opinion of the "experts" in this forum.

© Magic Touch Massage (near Sam Yan MRT) - due to the well reviewed quality of massage as well as (not necessarily handsome in the traditional sense) manly masseurs.

(B) *this one I can't decide and would need your guidance to help me arrive at a decision* I have 2 in mind: Arena in Silom for the muscular masseurs and Ninespa near Asok for the quality of masseurs.

Looking forward to your picks and/or suitable alternatives.

Also to give you context, I'm a different kind of farang in the sense that I'm of southeast asian descent and not a caucasian. On several instances I've even been thought of as either Thai or Vietnamese.

Thanks in advance!

Clarification: option © is the one I'm still undecided on. I'm pretty much decided on Dr. Bear and Magic Touch (unless of course your expert opinions could sway me) - - what I really need insight on would be to go for either Arena or Ninespa (or any other similar m2m place. Thank you again!

welcome to the forum.

Magic Touch is in soi Ngaham Duplee on way to Malaysia Hotel  so close to Lumpini station not Sam Yan which is handy for soi Twilight with Bangkok Massage there.

Go for Arena if you ask me.

Quality of massage and fun related depends more on masseur himself than venue he is working at. You may heavenly experience in shabby place and crappy in classy one.

If you picking up masseur, make sure you go for one which shows some interest in you -smile , eye contact etc.

Wow! Hi vinapu, thanks for your response. I must say I'm a bit starstruck (haha!)

Just a clarification I think the one in Ngam Duplee is Magic Hands... The one I'm referring to is Magic Touch (a new spa owned by the previous manager or Magic Hands)... Based on available info it's located near Sam Yan MRT station.

Your tip in choosing a masseur makes a lot of sense. I will surely remember that!

yes Magic TOUCH is new and in Soi Na Wat Hualampong, I have passed it several times in recent days and wondered what that was all about, kinda odd location for a massage shop. I had no idea it was m2m, so I didn't even bother to take a closer look lol.

Seems kinda pricey at 750 for a 1.5 hr oil, though. My go-to place for a quality massage (with no extras expected, though on occasion a HJ can happen) is The Prime in Silom Soi 6. Since they recently raised prices not much cheaper now at 650 for 15h oil, though.

I just went into Magic Touch (5pm). Beautiful place for sure but absolutely no-one seemed to be around. Reception deserted and I wandered freely upstairs. One door with a do not disturb sign so presumably just the one guy on at this time. May try later if I haven't found an alternative.

you are right but Magic Hands is worth trying as well , kind of unheralded but great place.

Thank you for introducing Magic Touch here, I don't think anybody ever mentioned the place, hope Nasherih gives them another chance

Note: both for R3 and Nine you'd better make advance reservations. Bear/R3 seems to be able to deliver about the same as the special msg from SpaBKK in Silom Plaza-also reviewed in the blog you mention. R3 SAUNA is closed after several police raids.

My own exp. at MH-in soi MalayHTL was so bad, I skipped it of my list forever. But that does not mean you cannot have a happy exp. there.

Such msg places open/close at the whim of the moment about anywhere in BKK and not that many seem to survive the usual 3-yr leaseterm for the rent. More and more of the ''treatment specialists''  come from Cambodia, VNam or Burma. Also more and more of their workers seem to drum up custom by small ads on gboysiam69.com.

Thanks for your insights everyone.

Pong - yes I intend to book ahead especially for Dr. Bear (btw I was referring to the R3 branch of Dr. Bear and not R3 Sauna)...

Vinapu - I think I will try Arena as I prefer muscular men.

Has anyone been there recently to comment on the quality of the guys?

Ok, in the interests of the forum, I returned to Magic Touch an hour later. This time there was a guy on the ground floor tidying a few things up. He seemed to be the only guy available so I'm not sure if picking from a lineup is usual or not.

But I was happy to go with him, very happy as it turned out. I'm impressed with the place and its facilities (Ensuite shower and toilet, good massage beds with face holes).

And a very sensual massage over the 90 minutes, the masseur wearing thin shorts that hid very little of his beautiful and considerable endowment. The shorts removed when indicated and no awkward discussion regarding tip. Happy to mention the name of the masseur, but pm me, as I prefer not to mention publicly.

Highly recommended!

Magic Touch is run by Chatree, who used to manage Magic Hands. He's brought a number of the guys across from there. Good quality massage, and the same policy about tips.

The location means no passing trade, but the quality of the massage is great. 15% discount with a coupon from Travelgayasia.

Highly recommended. Very chilled out environment.

not really relevant to this thread, but for completeness' sake:

R3 Sauna (now called Ratchada Sauna) is NOT closed. It did close after mentioned police raid, and from what I heard, reopened, closed again, but is now open at least since some time in September.

This is from their very own Line account (they had a similar one in October):

read that The Prime may have long wait, do your reckon it's worth the wait? usually i prefer sensual than sexual massages

Its generally great massage in prime but it depends on the masseur too. U dont have to wait if u book ahead. Either call or go there and book for a different time if u stay close

Just an update after the trip, went to The Prime after calling to book for the next day. Easy, no waiting time and masseur seemed a little stern but skill was great. felt totally relaxed though the walls did not go all the way up so I could hear the next door customer snoring half way through.

common shower on my floor. The next day I went back again and chose another masseur, different technique but similar greatness, this time with ensuite shower. Masseur seemed a little more relaxed than yesterday's one and smiled/chatted a little more.
