Guest Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Just so we are clear I have no intention of banning the word Boy. I have better things to do with my time then scan posts looking for the word Boy. Even I was willing to do that , it would likely take years before the word was eradicated from members who post here. Anyone who agrees can stop using the word Boy and those who have been using it for years, if they so choose can change it to guys etc. . As always even a hint of it pertaining to under age sex with a member and that member will need to find a New Forum! stijntje, santosh108 and Terry4 3
vinapu Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 . I wouldn't go to a bar where the pole dancers are older men. Where is the fun? watching older men trying to climb the greased pole ?
Guest Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 It is a very safe bet that the latest board troll will be banned long before the word "boy", which everyone knows means an adult in the context used here. Same as when people refer to the "girls" at a night club, they mean the young ladies.
vinapu Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 We can or can't agree with Terry4 but it needs to be admitted that recently he initiated two very interesting discussions on this forum. Dear Vinapu, that's the problem. It's the pattern, not the topic. As I've said I prefer to use "guy" and usually do. So, it is not the topic I question it is the manner. One can voice an opinion or be a provocateur. Everyone can draw their own conclusions as to my position on this. I don't see any problem. Topics were initiated and quite a vivid discussion followed , free of mud throwing which is what what I like. It means that even if we are provoked , we still managed to stay civil and impressively on the subject . kokopelli, santosh108 and faranglaw 3
Popular Post Vessey Posted September 29, 2018 Popular Post Posted September 29, 2018 Presumably by the same 'logic' straight guys should also be banned from using the word 'girl' to describe female sex workers? In language context is, of course, everything. For heavens sake even groups of male pensioners in your local pub can be heard describing themselves collectively as boys or 'the old boy' sitting in the corner! Our P.C, world gets ever more intolerant, some people seemingly delight in taking offence at anything these days no matter how innocently used. Presumably if the OP has his way we shall have to insist on the renaming of all the bars of Pattaya: Toy Men, X-Men, Kwai Men, Power Men, Nice Men, Good Men, MenMenMen, etc etc, and, of course 'Men Town'. So until I 'die-off' (thanks for that sentiment!), I shall continue to describe my Thai companions as 'boys'! JimmyJoe, JackR, witty and 3 others 6

CurtisD Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 I think Terry4 makes a good point, although it could have been made just as effectively without the reference to generations dying off. I went back through my posts and although I thought I used 'guys' more frequently I see I actually mix it up with 'boys'. So guys it is from now on. kokopelli 1
Terry4 Posted September 29, 2018 Author Posted September 29, 2018 at least in Bangkok we have Hot Male alreadyNo, I didnt say that ,once again my post has been taken out of context, I said when the word “boy” is described in sexual exploits, I actually keep repeating that but I guess some want to take it out if context to belittle me and try to argue, nothing to do with bar names, boyfriends ,old boys clubs etc Again I said my concern was when I see posters write what they do with “boys” ,and to others reading this forum it can be construed in a different way . And I gave a example, please dont try to exaggerate what I am saying,im sure you know what I am talking about. Personally I have no problem in bar names with the word “boy”,although my favourite was Top Man when Michael ran it in Sunee Plaza many years ago BUT I can see Political correctness eventually changing that too in Thailand, whether ones agrees with that is not the point im making here. But just a point,Boystown is not spelt that way it’s Boyztown with a Z ,it was changed a few years ago because I believe once again that the public had misconceptions This will be the last post on write on this topic, but I prefer to be safe and write “guys” rather than “boys” ,Its up to you however, wont say anymore but im shore the majority of you get my drift. kokopelli 1
vinapu Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Terry4, my comment was in response to Vessey's frivolous suggestion, has nothing to do with what you suggesting. Actually I happen to agree with you that word' boy' is perhaps overused and may be taken by some out of context. On another hand I don't see it being issue worth splitting hair in four , discussion was nice , everybody had his say and I guess very few will mind their ways because of what they read here. As long as bar boys / guys / men will use it , so will us I guess. kokopelli 1
hanan Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 although my favourite was Top Man when Michael ran it in Sunee Plaza many years ago May I suggest you stop referring to "Sunee plaza many years ago"? THAT if something would get the christian groups to be suspicious about you. But just a point,Boystown is not spelt that way it’s Boyztown with a Z ,it was changed a few years ago because I believe once again that the public had misconceptions Then maybe we should start use boyz here too and problem solved? paborn, vinapu, bobsaigon and 1 other 4

Very good point about Sunee, dare I say those Sunee-nostalgic types arose question marks not only in do-gooder circles. Great idea with "boyz" ! I guess worth a try
