Travellerdave Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 Travelerdave, what is his profile number on Romeo ? Don't find big ones very often ..Lol Sorry halfhansum I can’t remember his profile number. I do remember his cock however with its extreme girth and the pain when he attempted to penetrate me. Several off the boys I had during my July trip were big but nothing like that one. halfhansum 1 Quote
t0oL1 Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 A thread that just cries out for updates (especially as I am now only a few days away from being able to check these out for myself), Finnseventy's report from Nice Boys and Power Boys was, shall we say, 'inspiring', as I have yet to visit either bar, and I am discovering that almost half my 'bucket list' seems to currently be working across these two bars. ...... And yes I will report back myself later LOL and they didn't even mention "Winners" Bar., which I want to visit and re-name "Wieners". Quote
vinapu Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 no, " Wieners" sounds more fit for deli or butcher shop Quote
sglad Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 Who determines what’s outrageously expensive? It's all relative to individual spending power, tastes, type of venue and location. All too often people compare oranges and apples in these forums, making dismissive statements about a particular venue which to me sounds like a hatchet job. For example, they go to Dreamboys or Jupiter 2018, which sits on some of the most expensive real estate in Thailand, and compare it unfavourably with a Sunee Plaza bar or one of those bars in that soi where the Tawan is. Very different types of venue in terms of staff, atmosphere, the services they offer, the kind of clientele they attract and of course, pricing. I've also read some rather unkind remarks about Vietnamese boys here who, interestingly, are very popular with Asian and female customers. Thankfully, the reviews in Chinese and Thai forums seem to balance things out a bit. So yeah, it all depends on who's doing the reviewing, what they're looking for, what they can afford, what they're willing to spend and the type of bar. Everything has to be viewed in context. Quote
Guest Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 It's so outrageously expensive that I can have 2 drinks and an off for as little as 700 baht, which is about £14. Then I need to pay the guy a minimum of 1000 baht, which is £23.50 for short time. [Admittedly I pay about 12~1300 for good performance] Short time in the UK with a cute looking guy is absolute minimum £80 & many want £100, 120, 150. On average, these guys are going to give more trouble & less service than the lads in Thailand. Thailand remains good value. Bangkok bars and certain Boystown bars are getting a little expensive, but there are simple choices involving either working a little harder to make some money or going to the slightly cheaper Thai bars & or the phone apps. There is value to be had. Also, someone employed in an average job in the west should not be expecting to travel around the world having extremely low cost sex due to differences in living standards from country to country. Things are leveling out. Also, the world does not owe any of us a living, myself included. Quote
Londoner Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 The problem is the drop in the value of our money, not prices in Thailand. it wasn't long ago that we were getting 73 bht to the pound. If you look at hotel prices, drinks, travel and company and use the exchange rates we had five, ten, fifteen years ago, you'll see this. Two months ago, I paid 80 bht for a Coke in Winners. It was the same as I paid in 1996 in Moonlight and Cockpit. BBB, by the way, charged 100. DivineMadman 1 Quote
abidismaili Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 Also, the world does not owe any of us a living, myself included. Now I go write something provocative. I don't really mean it but it is not easy to give counter arguments. Is this a valid way of reasoning? If you are very good looking, sexy, you are in the top 0.5% in looks, the most sexy twink ever, is it then not selfish to let only your boyfriend enjoy your body? Do you then not own to the world being an escort? If I have skills to cure people from cancer but only apply these skills to my boyfriend, I am called selfish. If I have a billion dollar in my bank account and with a small amount which I don't miss at all I can help a community overcome some disaster, I will be called selfish if I say 'no'. Is it then not equally selfish that when so many people desire your body, you not give it away for a reasonable price? That is why I am of the opinion that very hot boys own us sex. Not for free, but for a reasonable price. Else they are very selfish. Quote

I wonder what did you smoke before that post ? . as recent discussion on at least 2 threads about Moonlight models shows it's almost impossible to establish what ' hot boy ' is and futile attempts to find what is ' reasonable price" is one of reasons all those gay forums are active. It was the same as I paid in 1996 in Moonlight and Cockpit. BBB, by the way, charged 100. Spot on Londoner !. When I first discovered Thailand in 2001 the exchange rate was around 70 baht for each pound. I rejoiced in the fantastic value of everything hotels, boys, food and drink. Previously I spent my holidays in Playa del Ingles, a well known destination for gays, where commercial sex was much more expensive. This rate resulted mainly from the Asian financial crisis which has corrected itself over the years. A lot of the complaints about costs in Thailand are made by those like myself who remember the “golden days”. Maybe my memory is faulty but I think the quality and quantity of boys was greater in those days, with many to be found in the bars and gogo’s Of PBM standard who were eager to please. During recent trips I found twinks available in the Jomtien Complex to a greater extent than in BT and Sunee. DivineMadman 1 Quote
Londoner Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Correct. The guys were certainly more plentiful- at least twinks were- and my impression is that there were more good-looking ones than now. But perhaps that's my memory playing tricks. No pun intended. In terms of numbers, were the ones from Laos, Cambodia and so on to stay at home, there'd be an obvious shortage. And I don't recall many non-Thais fifteen or twenty years ago. The Thaksin government initiated a lot of reforms and economic improvements in Isaan, resulting in less deprivation. It was then that my boyfriend's village was provided with electricity. He had watched TV by battery previously and done his homework by candle-light.. Secondly, birth-control became easily-available and popular resulting in families which had supported six or seven children in the 80s and 90s were now providing for two or three. This affected the numbers migrating south for work. I'd hazard a guess that this also may be why today's guys are less eager to please; they are not so desperate as their forebears. Returning home without much falang money may not be so devastating as it may have been twenty years ago....and the "home" they return too may be rather better, too. faranglaw, reader and abidismaili 3 Quote

Boy69 Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 I agree with Travellerdave and Londoner,I discovered Thailand first time in 1998 shortly after the collapse of the Baht and Thai economy I don't want to look like a grumpy old man but yes unfortunately it's true back then much more attractive boys eager to please you, much more gay bars with plenty of clients and everything was ridiculously cheap.Thailand still has its charm but some of the magic was lost once Thailand economy is improving constantly and the Thai people became more western.Nevertheless I still love Thailand and there is no other country in the world with such charming , polite and kind as the Thai people. traveller123, denny59, paborn and 1 other 4 Quote
Londoner Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 Yes, there have been losses but the gains are that our commercial transactions are more relaxed and more equal. I feel more comfortable. By the way, returning to the money issue, prices for such encounters have barely risen, at least the ones via the apps. paborn 1 Quote
Uranus Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 I’ve been a regular visitor to the land of smiles since 1988. If things were better in the old days? One thing for sure, I was thirty years younger and with much more stamina. I still remember my very first visit to Bangkok. After having studied the Spartacus guide I told the taxi driver to take me to where all the action is. As soon as I got out of the taxi I was approached by a youngster who wanted to take me to a bar called The Toilet. Not being familiar with Thai lingo it took me a while to realise what he actually was saying. And now I hear, the whole toilet is going down the drain. Quote
spoon Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 What does going to the bar called the toilet means? Quote
faranglaw Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 There's a new generation of young Thai gay men since I first visited LOS in 1990. Their values are different. They are not as obsessed with mimicking the West; their cultural self esteem has improved and this means they are attracted to each other more now, and attracted less to us. You can see this on line, where there are far more Asian models for a young Thai boy to emulate. Good for them. This is a very positive development for gay Thais. Can legal marriage, it is to be hoped including immigration rights for same sex couples, be far behind? But take heart! It only takes one at a time to make us happy (or 2-4 if you are numazu). ChristianPFC Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Who determines what’s outrageously expensive? If I have to pay 350 (?) THB to look at fully dressed boys in BoyzBoyzBoyz, whereas for less money I can have drink for myself 79 THB and a drink for a boy 130 THB and have the boy sit with me for some gropes for tip 100 THB = 309 THB, then I call those 350 THB expensive. And I vote with my feet, in the last years I have been to Winner about 20 times and to BBB zero times. paborn, t0oL1, hanan and 1 other 4 Quote

Operating a gogo bar on some of the most expensive real estate in Thailand (according to sglad, I have no knowledge in this area) is a waste of money. But not my money, I hasten to add, as I don't go to these places. I go a few hundred meter further (Silom Soi 6), or even 100 km further (Pattaya), where gogo bars do not operate on some of the most expensive real estate in Thailand. hanan 1 Quote

a447a Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 I've written extensively about Golden Cock in my reports. Nature Boy is on its last legs, from what I hear. Even though it's open every night, often there are no guys working. Some of the guys who used to work there now work at GC. And the owner sometimes parties at GC, rather than NB, with some of his boys. One of the mamasans - the tall one - at Super A is often found drinking at GC these days, as is the little tout who stands out in the soi. Quote

Of course, I know that and it is still one of the first areas I go to I'm looking forward to trying Golden Cock again, in the 80's and early 90's it was my go to, stay for hours, place. Quote
