Found some time off from work so came back to bangkok for holiday, 6 days 5 nights. Only booked tickets and hotel last week ao couldn't get my favourite hotel, The Raya Surawong. 2nd choice of Siam Heritage was also fully booked so ended up at Tarntawan Hotel. Old hotel but charming in its own way. Arrived from Singapore at 4pm but 30-minute queue at immigration and a 45-minute taxi ride in peak hour traffic jam stretched my patience. Unpacked luggage and relaxed in hotel room until 8pm. Went to Foodland Patpong for dinner then walked around the stalls at Patpong Night market.

 

At 9pm, crossed Surawong Road to go to Soi Twilight. Hot Male promoter was there at the entrance as usual. Had arranged for long time with my regular boy at X-Boys but I was early and decided to have a look at Hot Male. Have not been there since last September. There were a group of ladies, a couple and a farang when I went in at 10pm. 350 baht for drinks. About 15 boys in white briefs on rotation on stage. Unfortunately not to my liking. Stayed for the show. 4 boys dancing disco. Quite fun. Then a diva lip synching performancr. 3rd act made me shift my seat to have a better look. Shower show with 2 boys in red Speedos. Halfway into the song, one boy pulled down his Speedos and the other boy sucked it energetically. Wow. I signalled waiter to pass 100 baht tip to each boy in shower show. I left. Time for 2nd bar for night.

 

Tokyo Boys is really cramped. There was an Asian couple in 40s drinking drinks from a bottle with some boys. I arrived at time when they had just finished with last drop from the bottle. The woman went to the loo. The husband, i presume, waited and smoked. The boys went up on stage for me to look at. Wife came out of the loo and couple exited bar, leaving me as sole customer.

 

Doesn't seem like a gogo bar. Looks more like a host bar. Only 6 boys, all fully clothed wearing shirt and shorts. All are Thai. Most have Above average looks, I must say. Drinks at 350 baht. Drinks for boy is 300 baht. placement of furniture is odd. Must turn head 90 degrees while seated to have a good look at boys. Mamasan spoke to me for quite a while. He proudly declared that they had just opened for 6 days. 12 boys in the bar but many went off with customers by the time I entered at 10:30pm. Found it hard to believe but oh well.

Screwboys was absolutely crammed full of boys (30-40) when I visited there several times between the 25 May & 4th June also...all bar one night when a load of Viets were making a visa run...its quite a sight when at certain points in the night they're all on stage as its not a huge stage really...pulsating mass of hot bodies (about 50-60% of them Viet which suits me).

The 4 performances ended by 11:50pm then the gogo boys came up to showcase themselves. Half the audience left. Stayed there to look at the boys. But really not much to see because none in underwear. For those of you who know Baan Tew well (yes, talking about you, Divine Madman!), it used to take up the whole 4 storeys of their housing unit. I think it's a good sign that these bars on the Patpong side of Surawong are tweaking their signature offerings. They appear to be positioning themselves ideally for high season. They know that they have to steer a careful course to attract the China and SE Asia trade, the locals and the farang (probably in that order) and now is the time to navigate.

 

Moonlight certainly is cornering the top-end "show" market while the others continue to adjust. Even flagship muscle bar Tawan has added a few twinks to the mix.

 

Earlier this year, gloom and doom predictions were coming fast and furious.  Now we're hearing promising accounts from members on the ground.
