Popular Post paulfort Posted March 25, 2018 Popular Post Posted March 25, 2018 Hi.....I have learnt so much from this forum, thought only right to post my thoughts following my recent visit! I am from the UK and as per my more recent holidays flew out with EVA, normally use their Elite (Premium Economy) service but this time with my accrued miles upgraded in to Royal Laurel (their business class) they are a great airline and whilst Elite is comfortable I think I need to save up as fancy Royal Laurel again for my next trip! I stayed as normal as in all my most recent holidays at Baan Souy - whilst I accept it is not in the middle of Boys town or Jomtian I find it a brilliant location, the walk to the beach via Pattaya Park is a pleasant stroll and the nearby motorbike taxi guys are always on hand, I just give them a wave as I leave Baan Souy and they are with you for an evening run into wherever! I am in the hotel trade and mega critical with anywhere I stay but extremely hard to fault Baan Souy, the rooms are an excellent standard, the service impeccable, completely "gay welcoming" with an excellent and friendly team and to relax by their fabulous pool in a tropical oasis is simply a joy! So far as the bars are concerned, Toy Boys had a decent selection of up to about 20 guys, A-Bomb some that appealed to me but as always very slow turnaround, Dream Boys had a fair selection, maybe 20 or so but I am into the more muscular so nothing that really appealed to me and X Boys was pretty limited but I guess about 15 guys and some that might appeal to others! Disappointing to see that the new 360 boys had closed, however as normal Boyz Boyz boyz was certainly the best for me with a great selection of more muscular guys and many I know from previous visits. Was a bit irritating that whilst drinks on the terrace are about 160 THB for a customer, it is circa 400 if a boy joins you, reduces to customer price once you have offed them, but i got caught out one evening with a hefty bill! Took a few guys from BBB to Holywood which was as amazing as ever and if you fancy a late night and can handle some whisky a must! I love food and found this holiday that Seazone - just at the start of walking street was decent as always, I love Fra Pattaya the fairly cheap Thai place on South Pattaya Road - their Roast Duck not to mention simple but friendly service amazing, also had once again enjoyed a fantastic steak at Linda's restaurant in Jomtian just across from the main gay area on Thappraya road - well worth a visit! I was however very disappointed with one meal at Dicks Cafe in Jomtian I always quite liked their Bangkok branch but wont be visiting their Jomtian place in the future. Just as a thought for a drink with a difference, not widely publicised and not overly gay but no issue taking a friend, why not head down to the Hilton and their roof top bar, amazing views and given that cocktails and beers at a very fair price! Whilst Boyz town was undergoing some pavement refurbishment, I was conscious that as much as I love the Soi with the apparent closure of Cafe Royal now in darkness it seemed to be going down hill a little, sadly in the same way as Sunee years ago, in contrast whilst no actual gogo bars Jomtian appeared brilliant fun, lively and welcoming each night I visited and much busier and more "happening" I hope once the road repairs are complete boys town will liven up again but worried the area is unfortunately deteriorating a little! After a great week in Pattaya I headed up to Bangkok and will update on here if anyone actualy interested? stijntje, bucknaway, traveller123 and 7 others 10 Quote
vinapu Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 After a great week in Pattaya I headed up to Bangkok and will update on here if anyone actualy interested? YES WE ARE, as for Boyztown thare are rumors that Cafe Royal will reopen after renovations but who knows when. It's hard to compare it to Sunee as location for BT is much more visible and mainstream than Sunee, hidden in obscure backstreets where only people in the know find their way to. How it exactly works with reduction of drink price at BBB ?, if you don't off boy they will charge you 400 and if you off him , just 160? I see some sense in it as it secures at least some tip for boys and and hope it's the case as I'd not be inclined to tip boy extra on top of 400 drink price. In Sept I told them outright that I don't pay those prices but it did not stop me from offing boys from there 4 times.I agree that it is the best bar for those who , like me like their men better built reader 1 Quote
Popular Post paulfort Posted April 2, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted April 2, 2018 I continued my holiday as always on to Bangkok, booking in to the Raya for 6 nights, for me the hotel is great, location perfect, I like their larger "Grand Deluxe" room and the prices are good value, in addition no issue in taking a friend back! I think my rate included breakfast but understand fairly basic and I never got up in time tom try it so several morning enjoyed something at the nearby Coffee Club just a one minute walk as you exit to the right from the Raya, lovely staff and great toasted Cheese and Ham sandwich, full English or American breakfast or Eggs Benedict! With money exchange I noticed that Super Rich, think it is their main branch on Silom road next to Arena massage always offered a slightly better rate than their other branches, worth a visit if changing a fair amount and in the area, their rates clearly appeared the best on offer generally certainly for our sadly diminishing UK pound!. On my first evening I visited several bars, starting at Hotmale on the terrace, which was fine and where I almost always begin, but did appear Soi Twilight was quieter than normal, continued to Screw Boys which had a great selection, I think mainly Vietnamese boys, many pretty ripped and clearly worked out - so I had a few off's from their! The new Jupiter had a large selection off well built guys, all good looking, if your looking for a boy from their visit at about 9pm when they open is best as they all parade through the stage and that is the best time to grab your preference before someone else does. Tawan had about 20 to 30 plus guys, some just big but a lot with muscle so a fair mix and whilst that bar gets a bit of criticism I always find it one of the most friendly and helpful - so a clear favorite of mine! I also over subsequent nights visited the old Jupiter, they charge THB 400 admission and first drink (V new Jupiter 300!) I went in about 10pm and think no more than 5 boys, nothing amazing for me and certainly not up to the old Jupiter standard. Hotmale had a decent selection probably the best for me in Soi Twilight, Dream Boys OK but not amazing and the others a fair mix. I enjoyed several "massages" this trip on my first full day at V Club 7 which I love and an easy trip via the sky train, I had pre arranged to meet a guy I met in October and very much enjoyed, they have changed the entrance/lobby area a bit, whilst not the cheapest and a bit out of the way to travel a really good selection of fit boys and one of my favorites! Subsequently met the same boy at my hotel a few days later which was a lot of fun! in addition visited Arena which was OK, fair selection of about 10 mid afternoon but mainly older, bigger but not that muscular or ripped - more just big, was OK but a bit disappointing, Senso had about 8 guys, fair selection and OK and Prince another favorite of mine about 15 mid afternoon, many really well built and ticked my box! Whilst I love Thai food when there, and in Bangkok often find the small restaurant opposite Soi Twilight "Thai Garden" or something similar excellent for simple but good Thai cuisne and very friendly a change is often good, so enjoyed several meals at Gs on Soi 4 a fantastic German restaurant, amazing service, very friendly team and owner and great German but according to my Thai friends also Thai food - well worth trying! Eventually I headed back to the UK on the Eva flight which was fine but whilst in their OK Elite (premium Economy) and I get access to their lounge via my silver loyalty card cabin, how I missed that Royal Laurel (Business class) comfort, food and service - need to start saving for that soon! vinapu, bucknaway, reader and 4 others 7 Quote
gerefan Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I have flown Eva Air a lot but always Economy. How large are their Business Class seats? Are they flat beds? How does it compare with Qatar, if you know? When leaving the aircraft through Business the seats look so cramped and small, and that’s put me off a little! I was not looking at the premium economy seats in case you thought I was! Quote
Londoner Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 I fly EVA in the Premium Economy, which is about £300 more expensive than Economy. Every six flights I get a free-upgrade to Business which, inevitably , spoils me for the next five flights. EVA's Business Class does indeed include flat beds with screens that enable passengers to achieve a degree of privacy. The seats are much larger than Economy but the real plus is the space that each passenger enjoys. Food is better, naturally, but I prefer to eat in the EVA lounge in BKK and in the Canada lounge at LHR, to which my Silver Card entitles me. Accordingly I'm no expert but I am highly impressed by the wines available and regret that I don't drink on long-haul flights. Quote
paulfort Posted April 3, 2018 Author Posted April 3, 2018 Hi Gerefan I would fully agree with the views of Londoner, a lot more space and defiantly fully flat beds, compatible with any other good business class, excellent fine end Restaurant food and wine in their Royal Laurel (Business Class) if you haven't already done so get on to EVA's rewards program (infinity miles) as whilst I am unsure how many flights are needed in economy once you achieve their Silver status which is pretty quick in Elite, useful benefits such as lounge access and eventually upgrade rewards mount as Gerefan mentioned to access to the premium cabins!
