Nikom
Are there any taller building in the Silom/Rama 4 area that have roof top observation posts open to the public to take a look at the city? Thanks
reader
You can get good interior bar views on top floor of Dusit Thani and 23rd floor of Crowne Plaza. Also good views (toward river) from roof-top pool of Amara Hotel on Suriwong.

TotallyOz
I was at the Novotel on Soi 20 this weekend and had a great time. It was comfortable and a great view at sunset. Reasonable prices and some good food (although not much choice of food) and a ton of choices for drinks.

Park Society may be more relaxed, so if in shorts I would try it. Bars in the list below are definitely more relaxed. http://www.bangkok.com/magazine/11-alternative-rooftop-bars.htm vinapu
paulfort
Baiyoke tower www.baiyokehotel.com isnt on this list and whilst not the most exciting of bars, but OK the actual bar is inside but you can access to revolving roof top just above and currently the highest that is open in Thailand not too far to walk from Silom if you get sky train first to Siam square. The new Mahanakhon tower that is Thailand's tallest building http://www.mahanakhon.com/observatory.php advertises its observation deck and bar as opening this year but no date as yet. vinapu

paulfort
Or as a late thought if your thinking of heading down to Pattaya - the bar on the roof of the Hilton about 35 floors up is really good fun, informal and amazing views!

faranglaw
Pinnacle hotel has rooftop pool and outdoor area. You might even be able to sneak in for free. Yes I've slipped in there for free a couple of times. Very pleasant. Had some bonus sex in the little sauna up there once, with a nice Vietnamese guy. At least, he seemed nice. We didn't talk much. :-)
