Guest frequentflier Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Am thinking of staying there soon.Is it gay friendy.Any advise? Quote
santosh108 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I stayed there earlier this year and the staff was not only very gay friendly but also appeared and acted very gay. Quote
Guest Goldenboy Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 yes stayed last week. no problems at all. they take guest id and call to ensure everything ok. breakfast very average. pools pleasant. well located to action. Quote
paulfort Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Whilst I have never stayed at Agate suggest you might also want to consider Baan Souy - accept the location not central Jomtian but for me advantage between there, the beach and Boys Town, extremely comfortable, a lot of the team are gay and a real nice friendly club type resort atmosphere - well worth a try? Travellerdave Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I Stayed there in September and intend to do so during my next trip. I had a very good experience. It’s very comfortable and the breakfast is great also very convenient for the gay bars in the Complex. Being low season there were not many other guests - a mixtures of gays and their Thai boys and hetros. It’s not 100 percent gay but there was no tour parties staying. Much quieter than staying in Boystown. Quote
traveller123 Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 My partner and I stayed there last Christmas and enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly, several were gay. Saw other Farangs with different boys on different mornings so obviously no problem with guests. Breakfast was ok but nothing special - no sign of bacon on the five mornings we were there.(Perhaps they have improved breakfast as Travellerdave is saying it was great) We will definately stay there again. Londoner Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 It sounds attractive but I wonder about travel into central Pattaya. Sometimes, the queues for the bus outside the school are very long in the evening. Quote
traveller123 Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 It sounds attractive but I wonder about travel into central Pattaya. Sometimes, the queues for the bus outside the school are very long in the evening. We always caught the bus by the 711 at the corner of the main road and the walkway to the gay beach and never had to wait long Quote
Travellerdave Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I use motor bike taxis quite a lot and have never been involved in an accident. They can be a good option from Boystown or Sunee to the Complex. I’ve even had my off with me on the same bike. About 100 baht solo and maybe 150 double. During the day the walk to Pattaya is good excercise. First along Dongtan then up to Thrapraya Road and under the flyover to South Pattaya. Quote
Guest Goldenboy Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I always take a private baht bus back for me and companion - 150-250 baht depending. for me the safety is worth it and not having hetro eyes looking and judging. also fun can commence straight away Quote
Nasherich Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I've never felt unsafe in Pattaya and feel quite happy to use the public songthaew. As to the breakfasts at Agate, they have significantly reduced the offering from when it first opened. I wasn't especially impressed the last time I went (September). Baan Souy is great, and I've never found the location a problem (given the frequency of the songthaew), but always found it very expensive for anything other than very short stays. Quote
Travellerdave Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Nasherich - how much did you pay for a room at the Baan Souy. High season or low season. Is it 100% gay ? Quote
forky123 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Stayed at Baan Souy start of high season last month (my 4th stay there). It was £55 per night. It is nearly 99% gay. You do get an occasional gay-friendly couple staying if they have gay friends staying there. Quote
Guest frequentflier Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Thanks for the info.I stayed in Baan Souy during November for 2 weeks and liked it.As we always seem to end up in Jomtien complex I wanted to know about the Agate.many thanks. Quote
Travellerdave Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 The Agate looks to be about the same price as the Baan Souy for late January, when I might want to stay. It was much cheaper of course in September when I was there. You will get a better rate booking direct rather than through agencies. I suppose comparing the two hotels it depends on how much you value the proximity of tha Agate to the Complex bars. Quote
