This is sad, but a reality of online forums in general.  By participating in a forum, we leave something behind when the forum closes. The French have a name: "pettite mort", which although has the meaning of orgasm, can fit here too.

What happens in Vegas, should stay in Vegas.

What happens on another forum, should stay there. Don't open topics about it here.

While generally you are correct such topic serves purpose- newcomers to a world of  gay Thailand forums may not be aware about existence of other forums like Sawatdee or Gaybutton. Let them go there and make their own mind what they like.

I don't think is any competition between forums to grab readership and quite a few posters are active on all three.

If you could make a positive contribution there, rather than just look at it, maybe you would be able to "save" it.

Just saying.....

It’s already come apart at the seams. After it fell apart, all that’s left is the Bitch Board.

dreams... dreams... but thank you for advertising of Sawatdee :)

Short report: membership at SGT expanded twice for past 1.5 years, alexa.com ranks SGT higher than any other forums of "our trio"

And the figures alone suggest otherwise.

As of 5:43 pm

"There are currently 611 users browsing this forum. (60 members & 551 guests)"

The numbers increase dramatically as the night continues as the rest of the world wakes up.

There is life in all 3 forums. They just cater to different audiences.

For a place that's said to be falling apart, SN sure attracts a lot of readers. I scan the posts there periodically and find some of the banter entertaining as I do the occasional trip reports and other info. To me it's sort of like reading a newspaper: I don't read every article but I find enough to make it worthwhile.

I was going to stay clear of this thread, since I think the place to discuss concerns on the forum where you have the concern.

However, in response to the SGT board owner posting here, Alexa may indeed rank SGT higher in terms of number of visitors or whatever measure they use.   However, it is (presumably) just that, a volume weighted metric, rather than a quality weighted one.   Fine if volume is what you chase.

There is a risk that there is some damping in the system too.

If the quality of content changes, it may take a while for the volume of visitors to assess the increase/decrease in quality and increase/decrease their visit frequency.

One thing is clear, all of us have the freedom to visit any one of the 3 main forums, which have different levels of moderation. Finally, there is the freedom to set up your own forum.
