Guest jones Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Hi all. I had my first ever gay sauna experience the other day in Bangkok at Sauna Mania. It was very exciting especially in the dark maze, but didn't have too many visitors there (around 20) and so would like to get more info on other saunas in Bangkok. Does anyone have recommendations on which ones are the best to visit and busiest? Preferably ones which are visited by twink guys. Also what are the best times to visit? I've heard of Babylon sauna which i may explore but get a feeling I may not find local twinks in there. As far as I understand, the only gay sauna in Pattaya is sansuk which i plan to visit. Thanks in advance. Quote

steveboy Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 I find Sauna Mania one of the best options on their nude events, Thursday and Sunday around 7PM. Also 39 underground has plenty of young guys. R3 has exciting events, if you don't have to pay the exorbitant fees seniors are charged. Babylon is a worthwhile experience in itself, very mixed public with many seniors among them, but also occasional twinks. The size and attraction of the place is legendary. For some good information consult www.travelgayasia.com under "saunas" in the "Bangkok" listings. There you find listed also local saunas not much frequented by tourists but by young Thai boys among others. Also you find useful personal information by ChristianPFC in his blog www.christianpfc.blogspot.com Quote
Londoner Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 The advantage of Babylon is that it opens early...about 1200 I believe. I've been going for years and can never anticipate what sort of experience I'll have. My trip in June was excellent, the one in February poor. Usually, it's better in the low-season when there are fewer of us about. In the high season, the few Thais brave enough to enter are much in demand. On my last visit, I'd estimate that 56% were Thai....and that's the best I've ever seen in twenty years. Quote

If opening early is the one advantage you see in Babylon, there are other saunas that open at 12PM. But Babylon opens at 10:30AM. However it also closes early, at 10:30PM, which is a disadvantage. In the many times I stayed at their barracks, after the buffet breakfast I went every day early to the sauna to work out in the gym, then had lunch at one of their restaurants that is open at noon (the main one opens at 5PM). I have been there in low and high season, and I never thought of making a precise estimation of us-vs.-Thai. Maybe because I was there all the time I didn't notice the bad days vs. good days, or I was in the spirit to remember only the good times. Of course there are always the lucky vs. unlucky days typical of any gay sauna. I would say that 56% Thai is really a good number. When it is crowded there is an increasing number of non-Thai Chinese, maybe they come in groups. They are not old, but many of them are on the heavy side (all this yummy Western food that flooded China...). On my last visit last year I sneaked into a private event they had at the pool exclusive for chubs! Many of them Chinese. They were very nice offering me free beer, but I felt looked-down by some because I didn't measure up to their size. jonzam 1 Quote

pong Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 seems you talk about BKK-that big city has around 25 of such places (bet about the highest nr in this world), though more as half are somewhere way out in the sticks and none, really none specialises on twinks. On some of christian's blog you can find a complete list, or check it on gayscout.com or the better known ones more favoured by farang on travelgayasia.com. Timing is much more imptt, as indeed many are nearly deserted for most of the time. Best times vary with place and time of year. As already pointed out, Babylon is the most populair among farang, often with over 50% farang in house. It is mildly also favoured by some Thai twinks aiming for that. (psst-they get in for free or get other freebies). After that is likely 39underground in Sapan Kwai (BTS nearby), R3 when it has its events (and you are in its age-range), or Farose2 way after midnite (way out in RamKamHaeng uni-area-dirty, strewn with litter, free food of the 12 bt variety and often guys that do not even bother to undress from street clothes). Even dear chris seems not to have too much good luck in those places and I have given up about completely-a bit strange, as out of BKK in the few towns that have them, contacts are/were much better. You best bet on having twinks in is to hire one before from any of the dozens of places offering that and go together. Go on the right day and its even 2for1 in. In general young Thai guys get a generous discount anyway. You best chance is among the deafening noise of the DJ disco in the small soi beside Robinson Silom. Quote

Unless you want to exchange personal data with his site, like passwords, SSN, credit card information, you have nothing to fear. Tintinx, vinapu and ChristianPFC 3 Quote

If you run a secure system, you will see this... and yes... you can't even go read. That's just a warning saying that the site doesn't use SSL properly, which is true obviously. I think it's good that newer versions of Chrome warn about that, but it doesn't mean that the site is spreading malware (there's another warning message for that). Note that the blog hosting platform he's using doesn't even allow you to install plugins - you probably have WordPress sites in mind. ChristianPFC 1 Quote
faranglaw Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 I tried Sauna Mania once. It was Ok, but almost entirely sticky rice, except in the darkroom. Just one experience, but it seemed mostly they weren't interested in farang. I told a Thai friend about going to Sauna Mania. He laughed and said, "the sauna for the office girls." Quote

Farose 2 has no dress code (the only sauna I know without dress code) and indeed about 10% of customers is fully dressed (most of them stay in the disco room). Indeed, I had a strain of bad luck this year with 20 (twenty!) sauna visits in a row without success. I don't know of any Bangkok sauna that offers 2for1. Did you confuse this with House of Male in Chiang Mai? I don't know of individual discounts, only varying prices based on age in some places. I'm looking for twinks as well, and after checking all gay saunas in Bangkok at least twice, I ended up with mostly going to Farose 2, Nake, 39 underground. Details on my blog. This is not the first time security warnings when accessing my blog are reported. It's not my area of expertise, there is nothing I know or can do about it. Quote

I had a similar experience the one time I went to Farose 2. I wonder why the place is not kept in better shape since it seems to have potential, but it is what it is. Attendants were friendly, and so were two twinks I joined. But I left too early before midnight because I don't like to have to depend on taxis. But in my next trip I will be there in the early morning, and see if it is true the "hundreds of people" one reads about. Yumm! Quote
Alexx Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Maybe it's not kept in better shape because it works just the way it is. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that it's a shrewd and conscious business decision. steveboy 1 Quote
ChristianPFC Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 ...Farose 2...But I left too early before midnight because I don't like to have to depend on taxis. ??? How did you get there and away? (At the time the sauna is busy, the only reasonable way to get there and away is by taxi. You can go by bus along Ramkhamhaeng road, but at night you might have to wait half an hour for a bus. And there is the Saen Saep Canal boat, which starts around 6 am, that would be an option for those who stay that long. However when I once stayed up to around 3 am - unusually late for me - there was already a decline in customer numbers, and many sleeping.) Quote
steveboy Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 ??? How did you get there and away? I walked from Babylon to Lumpini, took the MTR to Asok, then the Klan boat to the University pier (before the boats closed), then walked north-west to Farose 2. When I left the sauna around 11PM I walked back south-east to Ramkhamhaeng, took a bus to the airport line train, rode it one station to the MRT, took it back to Lumpini and happily walked back to Babylon. I get a kick out of being such an oddball making this complicated route, but I enjoy savoring the local environment instead of being a pampered tourist. Of course in my next visit I will stay into the early morning and return by taxi, or if I am in the mood I stay there and sleep (I can sleep anywhere) until normal transportation resumes. Alexx Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 That would actually work, steveboy, last time I left from there, the new day was already in full swing. I took a taxi, but all the public transport options were up and running already. Quote
Guest jones Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Thank you for all the good advice. I think I will check out 39 underground as this sounds like the most promising option to find twinks from what I have read. I have been staying in Sansuk Sauna Pattaya for a few days which has been hit and miss but had a fair bit of fun also. And it's a nice place to relax! Quote

Then you were lucky to get the last train. Farose 2 has accommodation (pretty basic rooms for 300 THB ? per night) and a friend who comes from far away occasionally stays there. But if you can sleep everywhere, sleep on their furniture in the sauna as many others do. Quote

But if you can sleep everywhere, sleep on their furniture in the sauna as many others do. "Sleep on their furniture" brings an image of something hard and elevated. But, if it is long enough and not so high that if falling down I break something, this is perfectly fine. If I remember correctly some rooms have pads on the floor, and if the sauna is near empty no one should mind if I sleep there. It would not be the first time that I have been woken up in a room like that by an attendant closing early in the morning. Quote
