Throb-Splash - New Shows and Free Buffet - Friday, December 22

I have not been to Throb for an age. I wonder how the new owners are getting on. No doubt this new show will tell. Any observations so far?

I'm told by my ex-partner who has just returned from holiday that nothing much has changed since the new ownership took over. He said that the shows are desperately in need of updated material and possibly a new cast. They seem to be happy to rest on their laurels catering to the passing crowd and straight chinese/korean/japanese tour groups which are brought in at showtime by their guides.

He did say that he took an aversion to the new owner Peter who gave the impression of being boorish and seemed to be sampling the liquid wares far too much !

Pity if all he says is true as it used to be my favourite bar and I had a lot of time for Kevin and Tam who worked tirelessly to make the bar the success that it used to be.

If standards have slipped, I hope that it is a result of teething troubles for the new owners and nothing more permanent.

As I have known Peter Storro must be over 40 years when I use to Part own a Night Club in London in the days of Mark Fleming and Lee Sutton and Mrs. shufflewick also last but not least "Betty Bothways" who stared at BOYZ BOYZ BOYZ some time ago and many more, at the UNION Tavern, if your from those days your know if not you missed great times in the KINGS ROAD London every day and night, but that story you would never believe, he was then and still is a very colorful guy, with homes around the world, he has owned clubs also in Brighton the largest Gay area nearest to South of London.

As some say I do come over on these forums some times a bit laddish and a know-all, if you take the time to get to know him, he is one of the kindest, fun, amusing people, you could want to meet, not a plus in Pattaya, if your into his sense of humor, similar to my own, but you have to have a sense of humor in the first place.

He either is of the mind "if its not broken dont fix it"

Or he is waiting he time slowly see if he can make any positive changes he will do I would knock thru wall down in the middle 1st then redesign the room same as they have in BOYZ BOYZ BOYAZ dear i say there competition, then fade out the over weight dancers, put in plenty of very comfortable seating good Air.Con and get is a good Choreographer then your in big business.

Dont right him off so soon, he has always come up with the most amazing ideas, when others are still dreaming, he also has some Very Big Theatrical friends, one of his best friends I know of also is a guy called Paul O'Grady, if your from the Uk your have heard of him, he also goes under the name of Lily Savage, this is apart from the most amazing trollop both who were dr Barnado Ophanage Boys them self, so who knows its up to him, I know one thing he has never been poor, so Im sure he is not going to let this venture bring him down.

Bye the way 'buaseng' what interesting and exciting things have you ever done with your life you would like to share with us.

I assume that this long diatribe and name-dropping exercise was because I said my ex took an aversion to the owner who appeared boorish and drank too much - I was only repeating what I was told (and he is a very good judge of character) as this could have an influence on how Throb/Splash fares in the future.

I did say that Throb/Splash used to be my favourite bar and I hope that it succeeds under the new owner but from all reports I have read recently, the place has become stale and the shows are badly in need of a revamp.

As for your comment above, I can assure you I have had a very interesting, exciting and fulfilling life, travelling and living in Central America, Europe and Asia, but I am much too modest to brag further about it, unlike you.
