biguyby Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Dongtan Beach as we have known and loved it has gone forever. Before photo attached and preview picture of what is to come. I know which I prefer. dorayme 1 Quote
vinapu Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 somebody in charge clearly doesn't like trees and shade Quote
Guest Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 The authorities have completely lost the plot. They are ruining the beach area. Quote
worldatlarge Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Lovely sunburns we will get. This was really not thought through Quote
Guest frequentflier Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 sad to see this happen.Really trying to kill off tourism. Quote
santosh108 Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 This is so hard to believe!! I was just there in March and really enjoyed walking along the curved colored stone path under the palm trees in back of the beach chairs. It seems like a sick joke to have us walk out in the sun on a wide open characterless walkway!!?? ChristianPFC 1 Quote
Guest DThump Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Wow! The new beach rendering looks great. Quote
vinapu Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Wow! The new beach rendering looks great. good for you! Happy sunburns ! Quote
ggobkk Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I visited two weeks ago and the noise from the tree removal and the trucks coming and going was enough to drive me away. As the old growth trees were cut up, trucks with palm trees for planting were arriving. I gave up on beach time and went for a Thai massage at the blind Institute. Quote
reader Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I'm inclined to say TIT but somehow that falls short. There must be a lucrative business in destroying what nature has bestowed. Quote
a447a Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Am I missing something here? The first photo shows an uncovered walkway along the beach. The second photo shows the walkway now protected from the sun by some beautiful palm trees, Are some people saying they prefer the first picture?? Quote
vinapu Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 first photo are things to come , second one is what it is now / or was recently / Quote
worldatlarge Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Unless the trees were infested with bugs and dying it is not helping with the climate. They should worry with higher sea levels Quote
Guest DThump Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 The topic is really the gay beach, one should consider the beach not what it was years back but as it is now......No boys work the beach anymore and 4 or 5 old fat falangs getting a rubdown does not a gay beach make! Quote
a447a Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 first photo are things to come , second one is what it is now / or was recently / Oh, I see. What a disaster. Quote
biguyby Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 An update on the Dongtan Beach "improvements" First photo taken on Sunday 24 September just past the first toilet block (which remains closed) The second photo taken last year from a similar position I personally do not regard the change as an improvement. biguyby Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 I have no idea why the first photo has ended up sideways? Quote
steveboy Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 I have no idea why the first photo has ended up sideways? I agree, the "after" photo looks horrible, and not because it is sideways. What in heavens did they have in mind? Quote
santosh108 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Maybe, hopefully, they are planning to replace those lovely palm trees they seemed to have removed with nice new ones in each of those holes on the ocean side of the new walkway!? Quote
vinapu Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 I have no idea why the first photo has ended up sideways? perhaps to align with such stupid idea of uprooting all those trees ggobkk 1 Quote
Boy69 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 They turn a lovely spacious beach to a narrow ugly one same as the beaches at central Pattaya. Quote

Alexx Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 vinapu, I think it's fair to say that the TAT probably won't choose your photo to promote Pattaya. Quote
biguyby Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 hopefully not, picture of Pattaya beach taken in the morning 1 week ago MEMO0013.JPG Dongtan Beach is also left in a filthy state on the days when the Deck Chair concessionaires are not allowed on the beach. Ironic really as the original Wednesday closing was labelled as a clean up day. Quote
