Guest yaletown605
Has anyone use the service of a private gay travel guide. I know they are guide and they are not obligated to provide any other "service". But I think after a day sight seeing and what not with the guide, (and if he is attractive and we get along), I think I would want to do more with him. Is it bad form to bring up "additional services". Do most gay travel guide sort of do that anyway.
forky123
Probably depends on the tour guide. I'd bring up the possibility beforehand and see what they say. I think the more popular guides probably won't given the expectation that may follow.
stijntje
I prefer having an excellent guide as my travel guide. And another person for the other "services". Don't mix travel with pleasure vinapu and Moses
Popular Post numazu
I think it is a bad idea to mix both services, and it’s hard to find a guide who will provide both services well. I don’t think you’ll find good guides who also advertise openly that they also will sleep with you for a fee. But if you really want to have both, in my experience, either: 1. Get a bar boy who you have a rapport with, who speaks passable English at least, and who is itching or willing to travel around Thailand (if he is Thai) or wanting to go back to their home country (if they are Khmer, Viet, Lao or Burmese) and show you around. You will find that they can tailor the tour to your liking, since they already know you in the biblical sense. Yes, it’s probably not the best tour you will get, since chances are they will not be certified tour guides and won’t know the full history, but you’ll find that you will get a different, more personal perspective, with the tour, which in itself is worth doing, I believe. Plus holding hands and subtle shows of affection during the tour is a plus, as well as having a guaranteed lay at night. My experience: I have had success with this in Chaing Mai, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Myanmar. 2. Get a tour guide who happens to be gay, maybe from Siam Roads, or try your luck with general tour companies. The good thing about getting a gay guide is, if you have sexual needs, they know where to find you some nookie at the end of the day, or even to bring with you in the tour, which is something that could be more awkward if it was with straight tour guides, especially outside Thailand. And, since they are gay and if you are cute enough to them, they may even sleep with you for free. My experience: I may or may not have luck with gay guides in the past. YMMV, and I am eager to learn if there are sex/tour combo guides out there. I feel that there is an untapped market for these sorts of things. worldatlarge
I do not know about guides going for sex after the tour but one thing for sure Siamroads guides are good at what they do.
Guest yaletown605
I have seen the guides at Siam Roads and has booked with them in Bangkok. They are quite sexy looking and the photos are all titillating. If they are good guides, that is great in itself. But looking at how handsome they are and all those shirtless photos I think I will get horny during the tour. Would be great to get together with these guys. But even they are just a good tour guides, that is good enough.
ChristianPFC
...who is itching or willing to travel around Thailand (if he is Thai) or wanting to go back to their home country (if they are Khmer, Viet, Lao or Burmese) and show you around... In my experience, there are few Thais (and other SEA) who enjoy traveling the way I do. You can probably find someone to accompany you to a prestigious place (Phuket, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai), but for off-the beaten track, probably little interest. And those few I met who showed an interest, it's rather "Can I go with you?" than "I can show you around!". By now, my knowledge of Thailand is vastly superior to most Thais I have met. But the average tourist might with some luck find a boy who can organize a trip. But keep in mind that most Thais don't like walking, whereas for me everything under 5 km is walking distance. Meet the family ("poverty porn") in the boy's hometown is mildly entertaining once, utterly boring every further time to me. After mostly so-so or poor experiences with Thai boys, I wouldn't want to depend on someone in another country (where I don't speak the language). How did you (numazu and BurBoy) arrange that trip to Burma, I mean in particular getting time off work and making a plan where to go? I have several Burmese and Lao friends, but I don't know if any of them would be interested, able and could get time off work. vinapu, Jasper and 1moRussian
vinapu
. And those few I met who showed an interest, it's rather "Can I go with you?" than "I can show you around!". I agree as this is my experience as well in both Thailand and Cambodia. It's not their fault as they really had little chance in their life to travel and have little knowledge of their countries outside of the place where they live. ggobkk

I have several Burmese and Lao friends, but I don't know if any of them would be interested, able and could get time off work. Time off work - he always takes the time off when I visit. I tell him months in advance, and it has never been a problem taking off the time. Its only week-long trips at a time so it is not that bad to take it off. Plan where to go - I got Kaung from Siam Roads for the Bagan leg of the trip, and then after booking him, BurBoy talked to Kaung through messenger and got ideas for the whole trip from the more experienced tour guide. Kaung was also able to ask BurBoy what I liked in the tour (my speed, my interests, food preferences etc). Its funny, just last week I had a Thai guy offer to give me a tour of his hometown if I was interested, as long as I paid for the fares and food etc. I think it would be a chance for him to see his family for free, that's why he asked. I may take him up on his offer down the road. I've already been to his hometown but want to find out what it was like to discover it through his eyes. Moses
"Rule #1: no sex with clients" - it is first what newcomer will hear at time of interview, when he applies to work in the team of Siam Roads. Ok, all boys are human and if temptation will be very strong then they will break this rule. But for that break his customer should be "fresh muscular white blond god up to 35 yo". Also: can you imagine how good will be sex after 14 hours of guiding, walking and talking? Can you imagine how long will be sex when guide has to wake up at morning at 6 am cuz next client is waiting for him in hotel at far end of city at 8am? SiamRoads is brilliant team of skilled and cute gay guides and companions, and they don't want to destroy everything by accusing in prostitution. Spoon for soup and fork for meat, you may try to eat soup with fork and to eat meat with spoon, but result will be very unpleasant. Advise: just pick up boy for night on Romeo or Hornet or in bar. He will be fresh and skilled in job what you need. ChristianPFC

Correct me, if it's not a spoon they use to eat ALL in Thailand, including meat )))(just teasing, Moses, just teasing) Yaletown605 - indeed, there are some guys in Hornet, who suggests "guide you around" - but nobody knows are they good as a guide or not. But you always can contact them and ask some questions to see how it's going. And it's better to decide what do you want more - a guided tour, a social interaction or a quasi boyfriend experience (in this case stick with Numazu advice)
vinapu
I've already been to his hometown but want to find out what it was like to discover it through his eyes. I know advantages of being guided by locals but wherever I go , I prefer to discover new place through my own eyes. Where local guides are indispensable are logistics as for them it's my easier to organize transport , tickets and find somebody who has a key
Alexx
I've used the services of three gay tour guides. Two of them, in the course of our time spent together, hinted at financial issues and the need to earn some extra money. It didn't surprise me. Guest whall
It's probably best to keep them separate, but the temptation to want the sex and quality tour is great. I must admit. I'm going to Cambodia this year and will hire a guide for Angkor Wat. From Siam roads.

And he knows a lot and knows how to get around. Would strongly recommend him. If I go back again next year, I will definitely hire him again. I third this, I spent a few days (well, mainly nights actually) with Sareth last November. To be honest I seriously underutilized his knowledge / guiding skills and just had him take me out for dinner / drinking most nights, but he obviously has a passion for and extensive knowledge of his countries history...as well as being cute and absolutely charming, I'd thoroughly recommend him!! ChristianPFC
Hello Moses, the prices quoted "Day - 8 h / $50 Night - 6 h / $30 Day+Night - $70" are just for the guide, or does it include car with the guide as driver, or does that (car and driver) has to be booked separately? (For places where a car with driver is the best way to get around.) Moses

Usually car for day is around $35 but it depends on season and on path (than more far is travel - then more expensive is car - Cambodia has no own fuel. And about Sareth: you may find more cheap guide (around $35-$40), but no warranty what he will be gay and know gay scene. Also if talk about quality - Sareth is in TOP-20 on Tripadviser from 500+ local guides (Over 150 5* and 4* testimonials). By the way: Angkor admission rised not far ago. You will pay only for yourself, as licensed guide Sareth has free entrance in all state museums. PS, pls find my tips for travelers to Siem Reap at Sawatdee in Cambodian sub-forum. Even if you will not use Sareth's service, tips will help to avoid most problems in Angkor. vinapu, ChristianPFC, DivineMadman and 1 other
