reader
From Pattaya One Two ladyboys arrested for robbing Australian tourist on Pattaya Beach Road Tourist police have arrested two ladyboys who stole a wallet belonging to an Australian tourist as he walked along Pattaya Beach Road, in the early hours of this morning. Police heard how Bruce Lauchie McCown, 34, was approached by the two ladyboys just after 5am on Thursday morning. Originally, all was good, with some general chit chat talking place. Who knows what they were discussing? The ladyboys started hugging Mr McCown, which is a tell tale sign they are after your possesions, and is probably when they managed to steal his wallet containing 16,000 baht from his pocket. Before Mr McCown realised what had happened the pair quickly fled. However, the Australian tourist was able to alert nearby tourist police who arrested the ladyboys a short time later. The two ladyboys identified as Chaiwat Sriwanit, 24, and Thanatcha Saengsan, 21 confessed to police are currently being held by Pattaya police, and will be charged for their crime accordingly. http://pattayaone.news/en/two-ladyboys-arrested-pattaya/

vinapu
who needs 16000 on himself at 5 a.m. when most whoring is done for the night? Even at 5 p.m. this would be imprudent Some people are just asking for a trouble
Travellerdave
Definitely Vinapu. 5000 is the maximum of cash I take with me for an evening out plus one of my cards in reserve. Stupid farangs walking about wearing gold chains are asking for trouble with the motor bike snatch squads. Mind you I thought about displaying a very heavy fake gold chain, I bought in Spain, with a weak clasp to play a joke on them, walking about near the edge of the road and getting mugged. Didn't do it thankfully. Probably would have got myself in trouble.
reader
Some needs to write a special travel guide for clueless foreigners who decide Pattaya is a fine place for that carefree vacation by the sea. Maybe Pattaya for Dummies.
NIrishGuy
who needs 16000 on himself at 5 a.m. ....... That all depends on what sort of night he already had and where he'd been I guess and what he's used to spending on a night out in the company he's normally in. Sometimes when heading out if you end up in Thai company you can easily spend 10,000 in a few hours, then if he'd had other plans ( which feel through) he might have had some money tucked away for that. Personally when on holiday I'd always rather risk having a bit more on me than risk running out of cash and having to screw about going to ATM's or back to my room etc and perhaps missing out on a damned good time - normally my biggest risk is me THINKING Hmmm I'm carrying a lot of cash, I know I'll spread it out around my body, perhaps if going into a night club even putting some in my shoe even - only to get pissed, forget I'd even put it there, lose it and wake up in the morning and wonder why I've so little money in my wallet ! - Thankfully those days are getting to be behind me now - mainly lol - but I never say never :-)
a447a
I always take as much as I think I'll need, then add a few thousand more for good measure. But a few times in Pattaya I've run out of money before midnight and have had to go back to the hotel and rob the safe. On one occasion, after "entertaining" many guys in Eros, and way to many chuck -wows, tips and drinks in Goodboys I ended up across the soi in the now defunct All of Me 2 bar. I used that as a base ffor my forays into the bars. I loved sitting and chatting with Ton. However, this time I discovered I only had a few hundred baht left. Never mind -they let me put it on the tab and pay them backa the next evening. Of course, there was something in it for them, but still, I was pleased they trusted me enough to allow the fun to continue.
vinapu
My personal allowance of cash not in the safe strictly adhered to is no more than 8200 on me plus 3000 hidden somewhere in the room for easy access to tip boy in the morning without opening safe / money belt in his presence. That's ensures I will not get carried away too far so to speak. By 5 a.m. big chunk of that would be spent including at times boy's tip ( repeat companions I often tip up front and contrary to what one may think boys tipped that way never ever shortchanged me on neither the time agreed nor performance, I'd not do that for first timers though)
ChristianPFC
Some people are just asking for a trouble The amount of money in the wallet is not visible from outside. Songkran 2013, my passport was stolen. The thief probably would have preferred my wallet, and so had I (cheaper and less hassle than getting a new passport). However, the Australian tourist was able to alert nearby tourist police who arrested the ladyboys a short time later. How did that work? Did the thieves return to the same spot, and key the stolen wallet on them? "Stealing for dummies": change locations and instantly hide the stolen item. vinapu
The amount of money in the wallet is not visible from outside. but beefy wallet is, walking the streets and admiring sexy butts I can't not notice how many guys are walking with phones or wallets plainly visible through the fabric of their trousers / shorts making them easy target for thieving entrepreneurs.
