Trip Report - Patong

After my trip to Laos, I headed off to Phuket and specifically Patong. It's a couple of years since I've been here, having spent most of my holiday time latterly in Bangkok and Pattaya on trips. On my first visit I had nothing to compare it to, so it was interesting to see again.

 

My thoughts are that I greatly favour Phuket. From a scenic point of view, it's great. From a nightlife point of view, the scene is much smaller but very friendly and laid back. I can definitely see myself spending more time here.

 

I arrived quite late on a Friday night, and after a quick shower, went out to see what's changed in the Paradise centre.

 

My first encounter was less than 2 metres from the door of my guesthouse. A somewhat chubby masseur who basically barred my way insisting that he massage me. Not really, unless the center provide me with disposable underwear, i always go naked, even when im not looking for anything else other than good session of clean massage, especially if its the normal mixed massage parlour. The sauna is open to everyone from 2pm until 9pm ish. Nothing to rave about especially, but the steam room is good, and the roof terrace is a nice space where you can sunbathe nude (rare for Thailand). Both Jacuzzis were luke warm.

 

Breakfast at Aquarius was very good but I was disappointed with the maintenance and cleaning standard of the room taking into account what I paid.

 

Transport does appear to be expensive and scam-ridden. I found places to eat which i didn't think over-expensive.
