I finally booked my first trip to Thailand

I'm not sure hate would be the word in regards to Tartawan Place.

Just it is old and new owners have raised prices and there are better choices. Raya is a better location for a first time visitor , probably has better rooms, showers, safes and on the dates the OP posted at least 25% less.

Seems like a no brainer?

that's true , are we coming to a situation than anything less than accolades on any subject will be considered hate ?

As for OP I will stick with those who recommend Raya specially for newcomer who considers 70$ a night budget.

Big rooms, no problem with visitors and all bars within short walk including 6 not even requiring crossing the street.

Only problem with Raya is that in most cases they will not allow you into room before 2 p.m.unless room was unoccupied the night before and is ready but don't count on it.

Two solutions are

1. book a room for night of arrival and inform them you will be coming very late

or what I would do

2. book for night of arrival cheaper option like Nantra Silom and move  next day to Raya

On your first trip and late night arrival I'd not be picking up any boys leaving  bars  as somebody suggested above as mixture of excitement , anxiety and jet lag may be costly.

Do late night stroll to feel the place and see spectacle of winding up Patpong night market - lots of eye candy to be seen but leave flesh pleasures to  a next night or go to BBB Inn around the corner from Raya and have massage there, they may have boys 7/24.

Yes , as firecat mentioned I consider BoyzBOyzBoyz in Pattaya best bar in Thailand but on the first trip and short one at that  I'd stick to BKK only.

Difficult for me to say, since UK flights arrive at a very convenient late afternoon time.

However,   unless completely knackered, I would be looking for a boy on the first night.

Just remember check the ID & put your wallet in the room safe.

I am curious why you check ID if you are taking off from Soi Twilight.  Have you ever seen someone there underage?

I have never put my wallet in a room safe. But, I don't carry massive amounts of money and normally use ATM every few days to get by.

Yes.  Only a couple of months off, but still enough to make it necessary to check IDs.

You kidding?

Pool table place opposite Dicks. All I will say. Don't get in trouble.

I am not talking about picking up guys from the street or from beer bars.  Sorry.  I should have been more clear. I am talking about taking off from one of the bars on Soi Twilight.  I have never seen one underage there. There is too much for the bars to loose.

However, if you are taking from the street or from Hornet or another App, I agree the ID needs to be checked.  And, in Pattaya I always check.

To clarify this, in the Bangkok gogo bars you still need to check IDs, as the odd 17 year old pops up.

That's what I like about tarntawan. They check and took the id. Felt very safe.

Well, ideally you check before paying the off fee and venturing to your hotel. The embarrassment of having your boy sent away for being underage is best avoided! Not to mention that it would be easier to find a suitable replacement while you're still at the bar.

When all else fails, or you simply suspect that the ID might not be legit, it's always wise to fall back on your first hunch.

If it crossed your mind that he looks too young, disregard information to the contrary and go with your instincts.

It's not a foolproof method but it's as close as you'll come.  Forget the old "Thais look so much younger than they really are." Although that may sometimes be the case, there's always another reason they look so young: they are.

And if the boy is not Thai, make sure he has his passport with him, not a photocopy.

I've had problems at the Tarntawan Hotel in the past when boys have taken out a crumpled photocopy at reception.

Now I ask you see the passport first.

On my first visit last year I stayed at Amara hotel which is max 10 minute walk to soi twilight (on the same road) and less to tawan bar.... it's a really nice hotel with great roof top pool and excellent food!

I'm planning on staying there again on my visit next month... highly recommend it!

When we arrived in Pattaya at 5 am, we had booked the night before at half-price, so it was just a very late arrival, and well-worth the money.

I agree that you should skip Pattaya on the first trip. There are enough boys in Bangkok to keep you busy. If you are absolutely into young twinks, then skip Bangkok and do Pattaya!  :)

Pattaya is also much easier on the wallet.

I check ID because I don't like the thought of going to 3rd world prison for being a dumb ass. Normally I stay at places that security will check the id for me.

I can't imagine any sane person suggesting it is okay to come to Thailand and fuck boys with out confirming age. You won't get much sympathy from anybody, you probably come from a country that may prosecute it even though you are on foreign territory, and your family is going to love it.

Get ID and have somebody else verify the age such as a hotel attendant. I can't see how any other advice would make sense.

switch to older boys perhaps ?

In answer to Michael's post, my answer would be yes.. I spent an hour in one of the bars  with a mature-seeming guy with excellent English . When I wished to off him, he told me he was eighteen. I checked his  ID  and  it showed that he wouldn't reach that age for another three months. The bar was well aware of this.

No one, and particularly newbies, should take any chances, as ryanasia correctly says.

More specificity is needed. Was that Bar on Soi Twilight? Was it a GoGo Bar?

I certainly know at least 2 Bars on Soi Twilight where that would never happen . If there is a Bar that allows that knowingly then that Bar should be called out on this Forum and others .

They should not be entered or patronized by us.

I also find it interesting that nobody seems to mention Massage Parlors and checking ID's there. Certainly I know of many boys in those places of questionable age , yet I never hear that mentioned here. Interesting?

perhaps those who are patronizing those massage parlors are not posting here.

I visited few massage parlors in LOS over the years and in very few cases I'd have doubts about boy's age. But you may have a point to some degree - I never asked to see ID in bars but twice  in massage parlors , both cases boys were 20 something.

Admitting to knowing ''many boys in those places of questionable age" sounds suicidal, I'd ask Scooby to remove that remark from your post

Why would you want him to remove that. How is that any different then suggesting you must check ID's in Bars. The only reason to check id's is that their may be be boys of questionable age . Then again there may not. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Plus the comment of questionable age has nothing to do with them being underage but reflects on all the comments here that you must check id's. Why would you do that unless the boy was of questionable age?

Probably don't have to do that in Tawan and would be willing to bet no need to do that in Dream Boys. Just my humble opinion.

Question: if you do not want a happy ending, just a massage, you naked, boy clothed, is it then also requiered to ask for ID? Or is it legal a 17 year old who is fully clothed, gives your naked body a massage?

I wonder how this is in my own country, I can't even answer this for my own country. I think its legal.

(I am sure its legal if no money changes hand, because 16 is age of consent for sex in my country, so certainly when no sex is involved a 17 year old can give you massage when no money is exchanged, but 18 is age of consent for paid sex, how is this for paid massage with no sex? Can't answer this for my country. Maybe its legal in Thailand and Europe for a 17 year old to give a naked man massage in exchange for money, on the condition the boy is clothed and no sex happens).

Else indeed also for massage parlors ask for ID.

Posted

Probably legal, but the problem lies elsewhere: whoever wants to extort money from you, can construct whatever they want from this situation (you naked with a 17-year-old in a room).

I vaguely remember a Farang friend telling me that elsewhere in South-East Asia, a foreigner being in a room with a local minor (and no-one else) can lead to all kind of accusations and is to be avoided.

Legendary and long-serving Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards, commenting once on his popularity, observed:

I suspect the meaning is "many boys who appear of questionable age".

And to know of that, it is only necessary to walk past somewhere with such people, which is not at all incriminating.

I doubt taking a foot massage in the open area at the front would test the law either.

I've also met 28 year old Asians who look so young that an ID check would be advisable if I met similar looking money boys.
