From Coconuts

It’s the third year that Thailand has been named the least miserable nation out of those ranked on Bloomberg’s Miserable Index.

The newly-released  2017 list sees Thailand ranked at 2.6 on the Index. Thailand’s score was slightly higher (as in, slightly more miserable) than last year, which was an astonishingly low 1.2, but it was still the least miserable of the 65 nations ranked.

They only take into account changes from last year (inflation) and unemployment rate it seems. Malaysia went out of the top 10 of least miserable nation at number 11. Unemployment really depends on labor cost, if they are cheap, a lot of company can afford to hire more people doing similar kind of job to finish things quicker. I know it is very simplified version but i think when inflation is low, most people have jobs, little reason to be miserable.
